Ethan pushed her away,
"What do you think you are doing?" he barked at her with his eyes widened.
"I'm so sorry" Serena began to beg and went on crying again.
Ethan stood, his eyebrows rose, perplexed, and stared at her.
---
Sebastian, Seraphina, and Gabriela sat around the table in Sebastian's home. Sebastian had his arms folded over his chest, he was in deep thought and it was obvious from the way his forehead puckered.
"Is it going to affect your plans in any way?" Gabriella wondered, referring to the revenge.
She had just told them about the conversation Ethan, his father, and Serena had this morning.
Seraphina stared at Sebastian, her eyes flickered with curiosity, she wanted to know too.
Sebastian noticed their hard gaze on him. He sighed and sat upright, he placed both his hands on the table.
"We need her on our side" he hinted, to Seraphina and Gabriela's surprise.
They both exchanged confused stares.
"What do you mean?" Seraphina asked, a line appearing between her brows.
"Edward is clearly using Dorcas as bait to marry Serena. And right now she probably only has one option, to marry him" Sebastian uttered.
"But what does he have to gain?" Gabriela asked.
"I don't know that," Sebastian replied.
"But what I do know is that Serena won't be at the same level as she is now. As the wife of Mr. Edward Sullivan, her level will drastically upgrade and it's obvious that she will be given some of the company's shares and be placed in control of some things that Ethan wouldn't be able to get his hands on" Sebastian replied.
"Then how do we get her on our side?" Seraphina inquired, quietly.
"Through her sympathy" he responded and watched as Seraphina's face carved into a slight frown, her brows furrowed.
"I'm sure you know what I meant"
"Tell her your story and gain her sympathy"
Seraphina scoffed, she did not like the idea.
"Well, will that even work? And it's not like it's fun talking about it!!"
"Then I can do it if you want" Gabriela insisted, but Seraphina shook her head to her.
"So?" Ethan inquired
"I will do it" came Seraphina's reply.
—
Ethan with a furrowed brow, occasionally stole glances at Serena through the rearview mirror.
She had refused to sit in the passenger seat.
Ethan was reluctant to ask but he did anyway, "Are you okay back there?"
Serena slowly looked up to stare at him, her brows snapped together. "do not talk to me, please" she said in a plea.
Serena was utterly disappointed in herself.
In fact, disappointment was an understatement to how she felt right now.
How could she kiss the son of the man she was having an affair with?
Ethan must think really poorly of her.
Serena's thoughts raced through her head, she felt guilty and confused.
"I guess you have a thing for married men, huh" Ethan wheezed.
Serena's eyes squinted at Ethan's statement.
She groaned loudly as she rested her head on the seat.
"And just a fair warning, young lady" Ethan started to say again.
Serena's eyes darted to him, With a visible frown on her face.
"My father should never ever find out about the kiss, or else, we are both doomed" Ethan professed.
Serena ignored Ethan, who just kept on driving and didn't utter any more words.
—
It was night.
Everyone was home except for Charlotte who was still in the hospital.
Seraphina sat idly in her room, she made sure to lock the door to her room this time.
Her phone buzzed with a text. It was from Sebastian. "Talked to Serena?"
She stood up from her seat and paced around the room, she really did not see herself sharing her worst pains with Serena, just to earn her 'sympathy'.
The thought of it all, made her feel uncomfortable.
She felt suffocated, she needed to breathe. Seraphina picked up a big blue hoodie from the wardrobe, she wore it before stepping out of her room, and outside, for fresh evening air.
Outside. Seraphina sat on a wooden bench. She inhaled and exhaled deeply. The air felt nice on her skin, it almost felt like it was taking away all her problems and distress, but that was realistically impossible, she was stalked with them like an invited guest that came to stay.
Just then, Seraphina froze and furrowed her brow as she heard noises coming from somewhere around her,
She wasn't sure exactly where.
Seraphina's curiosity rose as the little noise persisted. She stood up and followed where she thought the sound was coming from.
It was Gabriela!
A phone was placed on her ears, and her back was facing Seraphina,
"So how is my son, is he okay?"
She heard Gabriela say.
A small gasp escaped from her mouth.
Gabriela had a son!
