Sebastian looked around him still startled by Seraphina's sudden outburst and he silently wished he had just let her go and didn't involve himself but now this strange, weird girl that he had never seen before was crying in front of him with his hand still grasping hers.
And he had to do something before someone noticed them and assumed he did something to her.
He slowly cleared his throat, still cautiously looking around.
"Are you okay?" He asked calmly.
Seraphina's loud wailing reduced a little as she looked up at him, her face covered with tears, she burst out crying again startling Sebastian even more who now just wanted to get out of this uncomfortable situation.
Sebastian sighed loudly, and he slowly let go of her arm. He contemplated just walking away but he couldn't bear to leave a crying girl all alone. So he just stood there, hands in his pockets, sternly gazing at her.
" I'm so sorry," Seraphina said sobbing as she slammed her palms to her face.
" I'm so sorry. Please don't leave. Please." Seraphina said as she continued to sob loudly.
She took a deep breath as if trying to stop herself from crying. She took several deep breaths and she finally did stop herself from crying even more.
At that moment, Sebastian stretched out his handkerchief to her.
She smiled faintly as she took the handkerchief from him and dried her tears with it.
Seraphina slowly looked up at Sebastian, his gaze still fixed on her.
"Hi." Her voice trembled slightly as she said.
Sebastian chuckled slightly " Hi. "
He sighed.
"So are you okay?" He asked softly.
Seraphina nodded. " I'm Sorry I made you uncomfortable." She said,
Sebastian smiled faintly. " It's okay. No worries. I guess I signed up for it when I chased after you as you tried to leave."
Seraphina faintly laughed out loud.
"Thank you". She said,
Sebastian nodded.
There was a complete moment of silence for a few seconds.
"Um...here." Seraphina suddenly said with the handkerchief pointed towards Sebastian.
"You can have it," Sebastian said calmly.
"Okay. Thank you." Seraphina said.
Sebastian nodded.
Seraphina slowly turned around and proceeded to walk away.
She had nowhere to go but she just kept walking.
Sebastian turned and started to walk away too but there was something about this whole situation just urging him to stop and talk to her more.
Reluctantly he turned around and stood still and stared at her as she slowly walked away, her head facing down like someone whose world was crumbling.
"Hey!." Sebastian called out, this was something that happened before his senses could wrap around it.
Seraphina stopped and turned abruptly as she heard him.
"What's your name!?" He asked.
"Seraphina!"
"Hi, Seraphina. I'm Sebastian, Do you mind coming in for a cup of coffee!?" Sebastian asked.
And with a bright visible smile on her face, Seraphina rushed back to where he was standing, continuously nodding her head.
Sebastian welcomed her with a soft smile.
"Come in," he said and led her into his home.
The moment Seraphina stepped foot into Sebastian's home, it felt like all her worries and troubles faded away. It was like a dream but it was real, she felt completely at ease. A bright and wide smile appeared on her face as she continued to look around the paintings on the wall.
A feeling of contentment washed over Sebastian as he stared at her lost in the artistic paintings in his sitting room.
"They are so beautiful," Seraphina murmured completely amused.
"Thank you," Sebastian replied.
Seraphina turned to face him.
"Don't tell me you painted these?" Seraphina asked anxiously.
Sebastian chuckled " Well I did.." he said and a look of disbelief appeared on Seraphina's face. "That's amazing. You are so talented " she said, staring at the paintings again.
"Thank you," Sebastian smiled.
"Have a seat " Sebastian said, directing Seraphina to a couch backing a big beautiful painting.
Seraphina smiled at it before sitting down.
"How do you like your coffee?" He asked
"No sugar," Seraphina replied.
"Ah. I see," Sebastian said as he walked over to the kitchen.
Minutes later, Sebastian came out with two cups of coffee. He handed one to Seraphina who carefully took it from him with a 'thank you', he then sat down at the single sitter opposite her.
They both took a moment of silence to enjoy the coffee.
"Okay, now do you mind telling me why you were crying in someone's yard? My yard?" Sebastian asked softly and calmly.
Seraphina was quiet for a few seconds as she tried to arrange her thoughts, the whole episode of the hurtful experiences refreshing in her head. She really needed someone to talk to and now someone kind was willing to listen to her, she wanted to voice them out but the uncertainty of how he would react to all of it was discouraging.
"Whatever it is, I promise not to judge, " Sebastian said calmly, it warmed her heart and she gave in. Tears formed in her eyes before she could even start to talk.
She quickly wiped them off with the handkerchief Sebastian had previously given to her.
Sebastian stared sternly at her, with a very visibly concerned expression on his face.
He suddenly felt like he could see through her and all he could see was a girl who had been through a lot but was still trying to hold onto life.
Seraphina slowly dropped the cup of coffee on a table close to her, she sat upright with her two hands In her lap like she was ready to pour it all out.
"It all started when I was in high school, in Grade 11, I was this 18 years old girl with pure Bliss living an ordinary happy high school life just like every other normal teen, I had friends and I was truly happy until he came into the picture." Seraphina began
"At first he looked and behaved like a normal teenage guy that just wanted to make friends, he insisted I be his friend and I agreed out of pity for him because he always looked so lonely but he turned out to be a manipulative selfish bastard that only crept into my life to ruin it".
Seraphina took a deep breath in.
Sebastian slowly dropped the cup of coffee on the table, his attention all on Seraphina.
"And before I knew it, I had no friends, they had all stayed away because he told them to, I even became an outcast because of him. My used-to-be happy high school life turned into a nightmare that I badly wanted to get out of.." a tear dropped from her eyes.
