"Lucy," John called out to the cat, who was still sitting on the bed.
Lucy hopped off the bed and approached the desk where John sat, then jumped onto it.
"Can you teleport long distances?" John asked, hoping that she would understand.
Lucy raised her small paw and nodded her head in agreement.
John decided to ask her yes or no questions, since the cat still couldn't speak human language.
"Can you only teleport to locations that you have seen or been to?" John asked further.
Once again, Lucy nodded her head. John frowned at Lucy's answer, as this meant that he couldn't be directly transported to the location of the base of RED.
John shrugged off the thought and decided to ask the next question.
"Would you be able to teleport me?" he asked.
Lucy seemed to hesitate, but after a few seconds, she nodded her head.
"It would be difficult, but possible?" John asked further.
Lucy blinked her vibrant blue eyes and nodded once again, confirming John's question. John sighed with relief, feeling a glimmer of hope. To be able to teleport directly to the location would save him a lot of time and effort. He thanked Lucy for her willingness to help and pondered his next question.
"Can you teleport me right now?" John asked, his voice filled with anticipation.
Lucy paused for a moment, her tail swaying back and forth. She then nodded her head, indicating that she could teleport him at that very moment.
"Are there any limitations to your teleportation?" John inquired, hoping to gain a better understanding of Lucy's powers.
Once again, Lucy raised her paw and nodded, signifying that there were indeed limitations. John furrowed his brow, curiosity urging him to ask more specific questions.
"Can you teleport only at certain times of the day?" he asked, wondering if Lucy's abilities were time-restricted.
Lucy shook her head, indicating that time wasn't a limiting factor for her teleportation. John pondered for a moment, considering the possibilities. He then voiced his next question cautiously.
"Is there a limit to how far you can teleport?" John asked, his voice tinged with both anticipation.
Lucy hesitated for a moment, seemingly contemplating her response. She then nodded, indicating that there was indeed a limit to how far she could teleport.
John took a deep breath, processing the information. Lucy's teleportation abilities would be incredibly helpful, but he would have to strategize and plan accordingly. He thanked Lucy once again for her honesty and willingness to help.
"Can you teleport me over 200km of distance?" John asked.
Lucy denied by shaking her head.
"150?" John asked.
"100?" John asked once again after Lucy's negative answer.
Lucy hesitated but nodded her head. Though her expressions told that she was a bit unsure about it.
"We need to find a way to train your teleportation ability," John wondered aloud, to which Lucy nodded in agreement.
John had no idea what limitations she had on this ability, as he had only asked her yes or no questions. However, John believed that he could figure out the best way to utilize her abilities.
Deciding to embark on their first mission together, John made plans to go on a hunt for a base with Lucy. He thought it would be best to rent a car for the journey. The location of their first target was near a dense forest next to the city of Osya Chernoff, which was approximately 200 km away from Sokovia.
John chose to wait until sunset before leaving, as he preferred not to stay overnight in a hotel in that particular city. His goal was to arrive at the location and complete the task quickly.
If he were to leave after sunset, it would take him around four to five hours to reach their destination. This timing was ideal for destroying the base, as it would be in the middle of the night.
As planned, John left Sokovia after sunset and drove towards Osya Chernoff. He couldn't help but feel a mixture of excitement and trepidation as he embarked on his first active search for bases. With Lucy's teleportation abilities, they had a significant advantage. As he made his way, John noticed two cars following him from a distance.
John desired to keep these three spies following him without losing their tail. He wanted to uncover the intentions of both SHIELD and HYDRA. John possessed the strength and confidence to resist their attempts to control his actions.
He simply wanted to understand what had prompted these organizations to send their best members after him. Was it an infinity stone? A rare metal? Or something else entirely? John's curiosity drove him to allow the three spies to continue following him. Otherwise, it would have been easy for him to lose them.
As John continued to drive, he kept a close eye on the two cars following him. He wanted to ensure they didn't lose sight of him, while also not raising suspicion that he had noticed them.
Upon reaching the city, John parked the car in a secluded location and consulted the information he had obtained about the possible location of the base. According to SHIELD, it was hidden deep within the dense forest, making it difficult to find without any guidance. However, with John's system map, this part of the task became much easier.
"Lucy, do you think you could teleport us to the outskirts of the forest?" John asked, remembering that they had seen it while driving toward the city and he had asked Lucy to memorize it.
Lucy nodded, her expression determined. She hopped into John's arms, closed her eyes, and in an instant, they were both standing at the edge of the forest.
"Wow, that was incredible," John exclaimed, marveling at Lucy's teleportation abilities. John felt a bit dizzy after the process was over but he recovered within a second. This was the first time John had ever teleported and this ability gave him quite the thrill.
Lucy also purred with happiness at John's compliment. They were standing on a small snowy hill, surrounded by tall trees. The air felt crisp and clean, and the silence around them was almost deafening. John could see his breath in the cold air, creating misty clouds that dissipated quickly. It was quite cold here, but that was not a problem for John. He looked down at Lucy in his arms, who too was unfazed by the cold. Her white fur and golden eyes seemed to be shining in the dark.
John had noticed a few things about Lucy. She was physically quite strong and had heightened senses. Yesterday, she had no problem following John through the dark night. The only reason she couldn't remove the collar and cuffs around her paws was because of the sensors in them. If she had tried to remove them herself, the collar and cuffs would have exploded, killing Lucy.
But as fate would have it, with a bit of system interference, Lucy was rescued by John, and she was eternally grateful to him for it.
