RIVERVILLE PACK
Sebastene and Chlyde took a walk round the pack for the third time since he became the alpha.
A usual activity for other alphas but for Sebastene, it was a taboo.
They walked pass a wolf trotting around in excitement and he couldn't help but admire its ebullience, even in the midst of their imprecations.
"Man! He turned last night." Chlyde followed his line of sight and explained.
Sebastene raised his brows meaningfully. "Facing the north?"
To another, it was only a harmless question, but Chlyde felt the chunk of ridicule imbedded in his words.
"Does it matter? He turned, just like us ."
Everyone faced the north when they turned as that was their ancestral home and the part where they could sight the moon.
Sebastene nodded in agreement. Facing the north to discover ones wolf for the first time was a usual occurrence in their pack.
"Yeah, just like us."
And he suddenly realized how unique they were in the world of werewolves. A group of people with special wolves and unique lifestyle.
Even the death at fifty seemed not to be distasteful, after all everyone would be grasped by the tentacles of death at some point.
At the thought, a small smile crawled out his face and rekindled Chlyde's spirit.
"And who said the handsome face of my alpha despises smiles?"
His plaudit fell on Sebastene's face and stretched his lips into a broad smile.
Several bubbles of excitement ruptured in Chlyde as he gazed at his alpha whose face flushed in happiness.
"And a broader smile would lighten the entire pack."
Sebastene who had surrendered to bliss gave him a playful thump on his arm.
"I got no gift for flatters beta."
"I asked for no gift for sincerity alpha."
And they burst into chortle, dived into the pool of exhilaration as they rambled along the path.
Those who saw their stolid alpha laugh heartily were astounded that they gathered in groups to watch in euphoria shock.
Perhaps the goddess took a look at them that day or their alpha encountered her in dreamland.
They greeted him politely and cheerfully as they passed and some would giggle away in excitement.
Their actions piqued his curiosity.
"Why is everyone smiling today?" He peered behind quizzically as everyone who passed them had lingering smiles on their faces.
Chlyde grinned and shot an excited glance at him. "Because their alpha smiled today."
But Sebastene wouldn't buy his facetious remark which he believed was a ploy to conceal the event that had ignited a flame of exultation in his pack.
"Isn't that false Chylde?"
And the sincerity in his statement made Chylde gasp in disbelief.
So his alpha presumed the wind of bliss blowing in his pack was as a result of a fanciful event conceived in his head?
Chlyde glared playfully at him. "You're quite hilarious Seba, to think you didn't set off these pleasant emotions."
Just as Sebastene was about to respond, a woman stopped before them.
"Very pleasant to witness the beautiful smile of my alpha. The day holds beautiful things."
Then she bowed and walked away with a radiant smile glinting on her face.
Chylde glanced at her back, his lips curled into a smirk. "I think I need an apology alpha."
"Alpha's don't apologize."
What! Chylde squealed in excitement. For the first time, he regarded himself as an alpha. "Yeah buddy! They don't."
Then a wolf ran over to them and laid in submission before Sebastene, who bent over and rubbed its head gently before it trotted away.
"You know Chylde, I'm beginning to think we look unique in our forms."
He glanced around in admiration as he watched wolves trotting around.
"Don't you think so beta?"
Chlyde felt a swell of satisfaction and his eyes glowed with excitement and delight.
For the first time in years, his friend and alpha praised their pack and was in a happy mood.
"We've always been alpha." Then he shifted into his wolf and loped off.
Sebastene gazed fixedly at his beta wolf in amusement.
When was the last time he let his wolf out? It was a long time ago. When was the last time he communicated with his wolf? That should be a year after he became the alpha.
It wouldn't be bad to let his wolf out after such a long time, so instantly transformed and loped after his beta.
His wolf drowned in felicity as it felt the light breeze brush its furs.
"So good to be out." It mumbled in excitement.
"Catch me alpha!!"
The elated beta wolf, Seiko challenged the alpha wolf to a race and readily, It took up the gauntlet and sped up in its greatest speed.
Soon, it caught up with Seiko, pounced on it and they rolled playfully on the ground, sniffing each other happily.
"The goddess left you with a greater speed and strength, Hugo."
Seiko crawled out of Hugo's body which was a bit taller than it.
"I haven't acknowledged that name yet." Sebastene spoke inside his wolf.
It would be correct to say he was the only one in the pack who blatantly refused to name his wolf.
"Then give it a befitting name."
Sebastene shrugged. "Well, Hugo is not a bad name."
And they let out a deep belly laughter, but froze when they sighted a good number of wolves running happily towards them.
Chylde felt a bundle of kindling in his gut when he realized what was happening.
"You hold their happiness alpha."
And Sebastene nodded in agreement. Truly, he held the key to their happiness.
An inner light ignited in him as he watched them roll over each other.
The scene looked beautiful and heartwarming. He couldn't think of a time they'd ever been that joyous.
Giving them an acknowledging growl, Hugo loped off into the wood with Seiko keeping pace with it.
"Sssh!! Look at that deer, we can catch it " He nudged Chlyde and pointed at the deer grazing peacefully.
Quietly they scuttered to it and before the animal realized what was happening, it was already in their grip.
Just like that, they embarked in an unprepared hunt and caught many games to their amazement.
Was it that the animals wanted to be caught, or they had pity on them? Strange how they could hunt down many games in such a short time.
Tired they transformed to their human forms.
"How should we carry them?" Sebastene realized the difficulty before them.
"We can't return to the pack bare with our peckers dangling for all."
Chylde released a hysteric laughter. "Dirty mouth alpha. But that would be great!! Imagine all the females crowding you, then you will finally get laid."
Another odd topic for Sebastene, who with stealthy footsteps, glanced around looking for solution to the problem they were faced with.
"You're the real dirty-mouth. Sorry, your plan failed dear beta."
"Won't you ever get laid? You're 27 Sebastene!!"
Does he want to be celibate? At 27, no mate, no child.
"Must everyone get laid? I can't imagine myself naked before a female for an activity I have no idea if it would come with pain."
Chylde laughed out loud. Pain indeed. "It isn't painful but pleasurable."
Was that his fear? It wasn't his fault, if only the goddess mated them, his friend would have been obligated to experience an intercourse.
"Don't worry, when the time comes, you won't know when you will strip yourself and groan in pleasure."
They finally cut some twines and tied the games tightly together. Back to their wolves, they gripped the ends of the rope and pulled it along to the pack.
Once they arrived the pack, they dropped it for others to carry, then trotted to their chambers to freshen up.
That night, the usual quiet pack was bustling as a mini feast was ongoing. The meals were prepared with the games they caught earlier.
Have they ever had so much meat in the pack at once? No!
Sebastene stood at his usual spot, the window gazing at the bustling pack which had its air filled with aroma of food.
And right there, he took the decision to ensure his pack was happy till the day he would breath his last.
