Oda turns to Enki and says "You have a month to break every block in this building, there are over two hundred blocks of various sizes and difficulties. You can use any item you find within this building. If you cant complete even that then you probably don't belong in a sect" with that he shrugs his shoulders. "I have other business to attend to, come here daily for the next month, I'll check on you occasionally. If you want meals come to where we ate earlier, every day meals are after sun up, when the sun is this highest in the sky and also at the end of the secular work day at seven."
He gives a crisp wave to Enki and departs before he can even voice his concern or ask any questions about his assignments...
---------------------
In another area of the sect Oda was joining the other 'Elders' and their 'Leader' at a table to play cards. "Dang this kid makes me so anxious! I can barely keep up this charade, I told him to crush cement blocks for a month just so I barely have to interact with him..."
"It's a good thing your wife still thinks you have a job and packs your lunch Oda!" Ra Kitza the sect leader said with a smile. "Otherwise we might have been exposed from the start, until we get the supplement money for our disciple it seems that we are still pretty hard up for money."
As Oda imagined telling Enki the sect had no food, he imagined that the boy would want to run back to town laughing in their faces. He had to ensure that Enki would stay in the sect, what was better than a free meal ticket? He was resolved to compliment his wife's cooking for the next century if it meant he didn't have to work construction again!
"It's a good thing we had all those leftover scrap blocks that we threw in the warehouse out back, otherwise I wouldn't have known what to tell the kid to do. I thought about teaching him how to use a sledgehammer, there are at least five of them in the warehouse I left him in if he can find them. Otherwise he is going to be spinning his little mental wheels for the whole next month" Oda thought that's more than enough time to come up with more busy work for Enki to occupy himself!
-----------------
"HAAAAAAA" Enki shouted as he postured his body, cocked his fist back and threw it in a somewhat straight but sloppy manner like the old karate films they played in the free theaters of the city. Smack! The meaty sound of flesh hitting stone made a faint smacking sound as Enki felt his hand fold and give way to the block and pools of blood opened up on the backs of his knuckles dripping slowly down his hands and wrists.
"I don't know if there is some secret he didn't tell me but I've been at it punching this block for at least two hours now and my hand keeps giving way to the stone." Enki thought in desperation, he imagined if he failed the task he would be kicked out of the sect and sent back to the streets. How could he realize the truth, if he wasn't in the sect none of the 'Elders' or the 'Master' would be part of a sect either as it was a scam in the first place for all of them to avoid 9-5 jobs.
***Punch*** Whack! ***Punch*** Whack!
Enki continues pounding away at the only stone block he has touched since entering the room.
