Chereads / Hunter of Artemis / Chapter 7 - To the Survival World, Yaros

Chapter 7 - To the Survival World, Yaros

After a good night's sleep, Jake is ready to dive into the Survival World. It is the name the people of Tarro have given it but the locals of that world call it Yaros.

Yaros is mainly dominated by humans and demons. The other races though powerful than these two, have a lesser population and so lesser presence.

When the citizens of Tarro first appeared, many fights broke out between the citizens of Yaros and Tarro. At first, the rulers of Yaros believed that they were winning, after all, they outnumbered Tarro citizens but only to later learn that the dead Tarro citizens return from the dead after a time.

The rulers believed them to be immortal and tried to capture them in order to study but it backfired. The awakeners of Tarro fought and killed whomever they laid their eyes on. Yaros kingdoms lost people too much and so after a bloody two-year war, they came to an agreement.

As long as these 'Immortals' follow the rules properly, they are free to roam as per the laws of the kingdoms. The Tarro representatives accepted the deal. After all, they have their own crisis to deal with back at home. They can't prolong the wars here any longer.

As part of the deal, the Tarro representatives should take care of any criminal activities committed by those from Tarro.

In due time, most people of Yaros accepted the visitors as long as they didn't create problems.

Some peak powers of Tarro also got permission to establish themselves in unexplored lands. Now most Tarro awakeners would enter the world in these lands. Very few still enter the world in the lands directly controlled by Yaros kingdoms, and those few are the races with lesser population presence.

Ding! Ding!

Jake woke up from his stupor when he heard his house bell. He ran to the entrance and quickly opened it. There was a man standing on his front porch with a packed box in his hands.

The man spoke, "Excuse me, Is this the house of Jake Black?"

"Yes, I am", Jake answered.

The man immediately handed him the box along with a sheet to sign as confirmation that he got the order. Once Jake signed, the man took the sheet and left.

Once Jake got a hand on the box, he locked the door. He immediately went to check all the doors and windows to verify that they were bolted properly. After verifying he opened the box which contained his new virtual reality helmet.

The device comes with instructions on how to operate it. He immediately plugged into the power source thereby activating it. Once activated, Jake put on his helmet, which started to do its thing.

"Yes"

Though Jake wanted to keep out of the guys from his world, spawning in outside villages would definitely attract some attention. If it was years ago, then it was a common practice, but now spawning away from New Bastion would lead to suspicion.

Spawning in New Bastion wouldn't be suspicious. Though every log in and log out might be recorded, they would just see you as a new awakener and wouldn't place much attention on you.

Even though, the spawning time is recorded when one spawns in a city controlled by Tarro, they still can't detect the person's identity easily. The most they can do is to detect the level using the detection artifact or skills. This can be easily blocked if one has item to obscure detection or anti-detection skills.

Every government would try to get as much as information and that means spying on everybody that enters Yaros. So these Anti-Detection skills would be sold like hotcakes if they were ever found.

Obtaining one was Jake's aim, but that was for later time. Once he gets his hands on one of those skills, no one can scan him and get results.

There is one little problem with spawning here in New Bastion. Awakeners can gain experience either by hunting or completing quests and quests can only be given by the locals of Yaros.

So to take any quests, they have to travel to local villages. At first, this was a huge problem but a small solution was found.

Anyone who has a land deed registered in their name can give out quests but that too comes with certain limitations. For example, a blacksmith who owns a smithy can give quests regarding the profession. Moreover, the one who issued can't help the ones to whom they issued the quest to. They also can't give out quests unlimitedly.

The representatives found a loophole within the restrictions in the form of a mission hall.

There are quests placed in the name of the city lord. These are usually to clear dungeons which are available always. There are also one-time hunts like clearing certain areas of monster infestations.

The restriction of not helping applies here unless it's a war or a beast tide. Only then can the quest givers can intervene in the quest.

"New Bastion", Jake chose his spawning point.

A white light illuminated blinding Jake's vision which slowly disappeared, showing the magnificent city of New Bastion.

The place where Jake spawned is an open courtyard belonging to the Temple of Life. For reasons unknown, they can only spawn or re-spawn after death in an open courtyard, and that too belongs to the Temple of Life.

Top researchers attributed that the god associated with the Temple of Life is the one who facilitated their arrival to this world. Some postulated that open grounds is to indicate that it is happening under the eyes of the heavens.

Whatever the reasons are, many didn't pay attention as they have much bigger concerns.

Jake was fascinated by looking at the buildings. Unlike back home, these buildings are built in accordance with the local architecture.

As he already decided to take it slow for the first week, Jake walked through the outer district, watching the shops and people who were busy doing their things.

Unlike him, most new awakeners are in a hurry to gain as many levels as they can. Only then do they have chances of gaining entrance to good academies. This is especially true for the ones who only awakened F and E Class professions.

A good hunter needs patience, a lot of patience. This is what differentiates an Inferior one and a Superior One.
