A black cat rests on his lap, purring satisfied, in a calm sleep. Everything is crystal clear before his eyes, not hazy, not cloudy. Everything is clear for him to see. Looking ahead, a large hospital bed, someone resting in it.
Her face is older, old enough to match his. Pearly white hair and an emaciated face brimming with life. A content, happy, forgiving smile on her face as she stares back at him.
