Alaric POV:

Adrenaline rushed through me, and my instincts flared as I slashed through my enemies with a normal sword in one hand the other cleaved right through a group all at once with a mighty shout of "luminous nova!!"

Blood coated my armor I panted slightly from using so much energy consecutively some of the other knights cheered "amazing!" "he cleaved right through them," "a magic user he must be Merlin's apprentice," "isn't that the squire of Sir Lancelot?" were some of the words I heard I smiled underneath my helmet.

I ducked under from a strike that came from behind I then rammed the back of my head into the Saxon behind me causing him to stumble turning around I used my iron sword to slash the Saxon's unprotected leg in half since I wasn't quite tall enough to strike his neck with my right foot, I slammed it into his unprotected jewels making everyone nearby wince from the sound alone.

The Saxon kneeled down squealing in pain I finished him off via decapitation with sword unbeknownst to me though there was another Saxon sneaking up behind me at least that was until someone stopped him via stab to the chest "how dishonorable striking when your opponent has his back towards you," said a voice that I could practically describe as chivalry itself.

I turned to see who it was the corpse of the Saxon warrior fell revealing my savior a blond-haired man with blue eyes "your Lancelot's student right," he said extending a hand in greeting I clasped it back in return "indeed I am...your Sir Gawaine right?" I asked he nods clasping my hand back "you would be correct Alaric," he replied bringing his hand back to elbow the Saxon that was trying to sneak behind him.

"I must say your sword skills are quite impressive Alaric, his majesty might make a knight out of you yet," he said bringing his sword up to block another Saxon and stabbing them in the gut. I sidestep the Saxon that charged at me with a war cry causing him to tumble down I quickly stabbed his neck insuring his death.

"Although Sir Lancelot never did mention you could use magic," he said with a grunt killing another Saxon with a twist I send another wave with my ethereal sword taking more energy out of me I dismissed the ethereal weapon to save up on my energy "probably because his majesty forbade him from telling," I reply dodging an arrow that was aimed at me I picked up the random spear that was next to me and launched it forward using my magic to increase the strength behind the throw.

The spear flew through the air piercing the Saxon Archer right through his head "that's a good aim you got there young Alaric at this rate we might just make them retreat back," Gawaine praised looking at the decreased number of Saxons.

Suddenly a loud roar echoed out through the battlefield all combatants paused slowly I looked up only to be met to the sight of a large white dragon "what in the name of God" I mutter the white dragon roared again this time it inhaled before unleashing a wave of flames that instantly killed a bunch of the knights.

Gawaine shouted "everyone retreat back! His majesty wills it," he commanded soon enough everyone followed the order I retreated back picking up a nearby spear to equip myself with the sword I had was placed back onto my hip.

I could see some knights that were injured "God damn it," I mutter running to them I helped them up lifting three of them with my reinforced strength with a grunt I began to run back but the strain of lifting three full adults equipped with armor was still heavy for me even with magic still I continued until I made it back with the others placing them in the far back away from the battle "stay here I'll be back with medical aid when I can," I said the one that was half conscious nods his head.

I patted him on the shoulder and ran back to the main battle where there were still more injured knights I saved a couple of them, but I was starting to run out of energy the constant use of my luminous technique took quite the amount of energy from me.

I go to save the last two only to get knocked back from a sudden burst of wind that destroyed the two knights while launching me back. The white dragon landed its body shifted to a more humanoid form the appearance it took on was that of a tall male with dirty blond hair, piercing yellow eyes with slits in the pupil, and lastly armor that was a mix between white and dark blue.

His gaze lands on me "so you are the so-called mage warrior who has been decimating most of my soldiers although I never knew that fool of court mage actually managed to find an apprentice," he said his voice sending shivers down my spine I felt an incredible amount of pressure on my body forcing me to kneel down from the sheer weight alone while the spear that was in my grip dropped to the ground.

The man sneers "pathetic you have so much potential in you I can sense it and yet you can't even take a bit of my killing intent hahahaha you're not even worth dirt beneath my boot...go on boy for even Vortigern is merciful," he said but I was still stuck not from the pressure but rather fear Vortigern shook his head with a sigh and launched his foot out ready to kick me away from his path when a brilliant sword with a golden and blue handle blocked it my eyes widen.

"A-arthur your here," I stuttered out forgetting formality for a moment Arthur glanced back her green eyes burning with determination and...something else that I couldn't quite decipher "go Alaric retreat back with the others you cannot handle Vortigern!" she commanded.

Vortigern smiled insanely "ahahahahaha so you've appeared at last spawn Uther the so called once and future king," he mocked with his body engulfed in pure utter darkness I open my mouth to speak "A-arthur we need to r-run now h-he's something else something different I can't even begin to comprehend it-" she cut me off halfway through "Alaric!" she exclaimed making me pause with widen eyes having never heard her take that tone with me.

When I looked up at her I could see her giving me a smile of pure confidence and reassurance something she never gave before preferring to remain stoically emotionless "...it'll be alright Alaric I am more than strong enough to combat Vortigern on my own or could it be possible that you have little faith in your king and teacher," she said with her own aura manifesting as a pure emerald green cloak for a moment I could even see an image of a crimson dragon roaring at me.

I swallowed and finally I shook my head "no I-I have complete faith that you can fight him off my king," I replied gathering my courage together "good now go I shall hold him off here," she said getting into a ready stance.

Shakily I stood gritting my teeth in frustration I began turning the other way walking slowly for a mere second until I started running with what little energy I had.

Today I had learned the meaning of fear.

Today I had learned what being a coward felt like.

Today I had learned that I could not save everyone.

Today I had finally learned...what real strength looked like.

-end of chapter six-

Hope you all enjoyed this chapter.

I changed the appearance of Vortigern because his fgo appearance did not look intimidating or threatening to me at all, so I went with the looks of an altered Proto Arthur appearance.

My main character has a vast amount of magic due to his heritage but has little control over it hence he's always overpowering his techniques which is why he ends up being so exhausted in this battle.

My second semester as a freshman college student has started as of two days ago meaning my time will once again dwindle so updates might not be as frequent.
