I rested in my modest room, furnished with a simple wooden bed and a study table beside my wardrobe. Mom seemed unable to speak; she acted strangely after mentioning my pink eyes. I didn't believe her words and thought she might be hallucinating. With a flushed face, she retreated to the kitchen to prepare dinner. I couldn't comprehend what had just transpired with her.
My home consisted of only one floor, adjacent to the kitchen and my mom's room. Curious about the events of the past two weeks during my absence, I picked up the newspaper. As I scanned the pages from left to right, my expression shifted dramatically upon reading the headline: "A strange portal opened, and monsters emerged from the other side, coinciding with the time of my summons by Aurelia."
Continuing to read, I turned to another page. "During the sudden monster attack and the portal's opening, the government swiftly responded by deploying military personnel equipped with advanced weapons. However, despite their modern armaments, the soldiers failed to halt the advance of every single monster." Images of the monsters, captured by people and CCT cameras, accompanied the article. They depicted creatures standing at 8 feet tall, with overweight frames, two horns on each side of their heads, pig-like faces, and axes made of stone.
It didn't take long for me to recognize these monsters. "Orcs! What in the world are they doing here? Their skin is as tough as iron, nearly impenetrable. They possess the strength of ten warriors and typically require many casualties to bring down just one orc. And now they're emerging from these portals. These must be dungeons somehow opening in this world."
I contemplated the valuable items that could be found within the dungeons, but my thoughts were abruptly interrupted when Erina called my name.
"Evan, dinner is ready. Come quickly or I'll have to come fetch you," Erina's voice carried both sweetness and flirtation as she called out to me.
"Okay, I'll be there," I replied. I sensed that she had been through mental anguish during my disappearance, likely searching tirelessly for her lost son and questioning if she would ever find him.
As I entered the dining area, where dinner should have been set out, I witnessed something so bizarre that I couldn't believe my eyes.
"Mom... What are you wearing?"
"My son, I made the dinner, come sit beside me, and I will feed you~" Erina was wearing a pink bra that could be seen through her white t-shirt and dressed in very sexy attire. I was clueless about her strange demeanour and speaking gestures.
"Mom..."
"Don't just stand there come! Meals are getting cold" Erina pulled me inside and started to feed me the meals with her hands.
"Say ahhhhhh~"
I opened my mouth and swallowed the meal from Erina's hand, It was so delicious after tasting the food made by my mom's hand. Indeed, you cannot forge food at home, even if you are in another world. Erina noticed a tear dripping from my eyes and asked.
"Evan, why are you crying? Is the food is bad?"
Wiping my tears I look at her and reply "No, Mom I'm not crying it's just I feel so elated after eating the food made by you! It's been so long time since I last tasted your meals"
My gentle words were like an arrow that penetrated through Erina's heart, her face flushed and froze in one place. At that moment Erina once again witnessed my eyes turn pink pupils heart. She could not help but stare at my face with the obsession of complex love.
Erina then squeezed my hands between her breasts and lay her head on my chest. When I realized that things had gone far from the limits I asked her "Mom, what are you doing? You know I'm your son"
"I know you always will be my son, Evan... Do you have a girlfriend? The kids around your age often spend time with younger girls" Erina's voice turned hoarse when she spoke about whether I had a girlfriend.
My breath caught in my throat, and I stared at her, leaning leisurely on my shoulders. "Girlfriend? Should I reveal the truth? That I had a fiancée, a princess of the Human Empire? But she betrayed me... No, I should keep it a secret."
"Mom, I don't have any girlfriend—"
Suddenly, I paused in the middle of my sentence, sensing a very familiar yet unrecognized presence. "A demon? No, it's different... It's coming from the southwest, around 1.8 kilometres away. And there are multiple auras. How can I sense this without my powers?"
"Evan, you don't have any girlfriends! That's good you shouldn't waste your time and money for b#tchs," Erina's facial complexes changed into joy, but her next words were like a stab in my heart, remembering that I always walked behind Victoria and treated her as my wife despite she never loved me and end my life brutally.
"Yes, Mom. I will never drool after b#tchs again," I affirmed before heading towards the exit of our home. Erina watched me go, her expression filled with shock and concern.
"Where are you going at this hour? And what do you mean by 'again'?" she called out, her voice tinged with worry.
"I'll explain later, maybe once I return," I called back as I left the house, my pace swift and determined. As I ran at an incredible speed, far surpassing human limits, Erina stared after me in astonishment, rubbing her eyes in disbelief. "What was that? When did my Evan run like that... Huh! Is my son one of the Arcane Awakened?"
Erina's mind raced with questions as she watched me disappear into the distance, concern weighing heavily on her heart.
Since the moment she saw my pink eyes and embraced me, she had been feeling increasingly strange. Despite her initial joy upon hearing that I didn't have a girlfriend, she now found herself experiencing unfamiliar emotions, even contemplating spending the rest of her life with me, regardless of the distance.
Her face turns entirely flushed thinking of something that she never dreamed of "What am I thinking? He is my son, he would rather like younger girls than me an old widow. I should stop myself from thinking these unforgivable things, I'm his mother in the end!"
Erina resolute and helpless waited for Evan at the door.
I ran straight toward the strange aura's location meanwhile I didn't realize my incredible speed leaving everyone in the vehicle behind and pedestrians couldn't see what just passed them.
"What was that I felt something passed me?"
"Maybe a gust of wind?"
The people look around and glance at their surroundings before walking their path.
"It's coming from there, what is this? I never come before" My gaze fell on the old abandoned factory, judging by its condition it appears that this building has not been maintained for decades. I wasn't sure what to do I didn't have any weapon nor I can perform any spell to defend myself from danger.
"Shoot! Shoot!"
As I was in my thoughts I heard two loud gun shorts coming inside the factory. "What is happening inside? Are those were the sounds of gunshots? The military doesn't seem to be present here then who is using the gun? There is only one way to know that"
I climb over the fence and reach the other. I could hear the screams of the people in pain but I was focused on the aura emitting from this unknown being coming from the inside.
A few moments before my arrival
In the building, 30 male bodyguards were lying on the ground some were dead while some were unconscious, each of them dressed in formal black suits. Among them was a young beautiful girl, holding a sword in her hand, her black long hair was dishevelled with mud and she had cuts all around her body. She was panting with exhaustion and barely able to stand. In front of her stood many bats with human-like shapes and features, but their height was around 4 feet like a dwarf. Each of these bats holding a small curvy dagger dripping red blood from its stiff.
"Ehehehe! This weak human thought she could scratch us? What does she take us for? Some mere stray monsters?" A giant bat sneered, its grinning face bearing a menacing appearance as it watched the young girl.
"Now, my patience has run dry. I'd love to play with your body in my cave and hear you scream with every breath," the bat spoke with a lustful smile, advancing toward the girl.
"Mis, Valerian... please, leave this place... I will hold these bastards off. Save yourself!" One of the bodyguards approached the young girl, pleading with her to flee.
But the girl stood resolute. "No, I can't run like a coward. I need to prove to my mom that I'm stronger and can look after myself. My fate depends on me now!" With a determined shout, she summoned her remaining strength, readying herself for battle against the bat.
Refusing to relent, the bat gritted its teeth and hurled a dagger at her head. Just before the deadly blade could find its mark, the bodyguard leapt in front of her, shielding her from harm.
"What? No! Why did you do that?" The young girl's shock was evident as she watched the bodyguard sacrifice himself to protect her.
"Ehehehehe! That foolish human gave up his life for a weakling. You all piece of dirt, kill everyone except that woman. She's mine!" The bat leader's sinister laugh echoed as he commanded his flock to attack the remaining bodyguards.
"Get away from me, you f#cking bat!" A bodyguard drew his gun and fired at the bat.
"Shoot! Shoot!"
"No! Don't! Don't! Don't eat me! Ahhhhhh!"
"I don't want to die! Aaahhhhh!"
"They're everywhere! We can't fight against them! Run! Aaaahhhh!" Panic and chaos ensued as the bodyguards were overwhelmed by the bats' onslaught.
With each passing second, the bodyguards fell at the hands of the bats, some being eaten alive. The young girl couldn't bear to witness her bodyguards' deaths, feeling defeated and powerless as they sacrificed themselves to protect her. "No, no, no, no... They're all dead! They died while protecting me, and I couldn't save them."
She couldn't hold back her tears, overwhelmed by her perceived weakness. As the giant bat approached with a lecherous gaze, she resigned herself to her fate, her mournful cries filling the building.
But just as the bat was about to reach her, she was suddenly whisked away by a boy.
"Who are you, and where did you come from, you bastard?" The bat spoke in surprise, seeing the girl rescued by the unexpected arrival of the boy.
"You okay? Open your eyes!" I said to the young girl shaking in fear, but judging by her looks she was older than me. The girl soon stopped trembling. She felt warm hands cling to her safely as her fear fads, she opened her eyes and was stunned to see that she was being princess carried by a boy.
"W-who? Who are you and how did you save?" Her curiosity escalated seeing the mysterious boy looking at him. She doesn't know where he comes from nor how he has her from the giant bats.
When I looked at the very beautiful girl in my arms inquiring answers from me "I should be asking the same question, who are you and what are those creatures?"
I shifted my gaze toward the creatures resembling bats with human faces. I stared at them for a few seconds and recognized this creature "Batman? No, Alan! They are a highbred of vampire and low-ranking demons, they usually live in cold moisty caves and aren't considered demons but rather evil creatures how that attack women and children"
I pondered as my eyes fell at Alan whose height was greater than the other small flock "You f#cking human trying to take away my pray! Kill him now!" He shouted. His minions jump at me with their open mouths to eat me.
I quickly jumped with the girl avoiding their attack, they fell onto the ground and crashed into each other, "That Alan could talk! Only high-ranking demons could communicate with other races but evil creatures like him speaking our language is something which I can't let it go ignore!"
