The coach bus was moving at a moderate speed, it belonged to the medical faculty of Hamilton University, Abuja. The medical students of the department of nursing occupied the bus dressed in their team uniform. The bus was headed to Hamilton's hospital for their practical classes.
The bus was somewhat quiet as everyone minded their business; just a few who sat by each other chatted; focused on the phone, headset on, sleeping. Everyone kept themselves busy somehow.
Skylar Maverick sat by herself on the last row occupying one of the seats at the back. It was just her there, she had a novel over her face, and earphones plugged into her ears. Her attention suddenly shifted from the book to get the phone from her handbag which started ringing a second ago. She got it and the caller ID read 'BSTFRND'. She swiped the green button and spoke first.
"Xup best,"
On the other hand, Ryan Christian was walking down the flight of steps, he had his messenger bag crossed across his shoulder, his drawing storage tube hanging on his shoulder, he held a large sketch pad and T-square in his right hand as he spoke into the phone. "you guys there already?"
"Nah, still on the way,"
"Really? The bus left about an hour ago, did something happen?"
"We had to make a stop for gas, the station was filled up and that delayed us a little"
"Aight. Done with architecture practical for the day, just leaving the faculty"
"Lucky you, studying what you want and love "she sighed. "Here's my pathetic self studying medicine when what I wanted to be was a military special agent"
A guy in front turned to look at her "You wanted to be an MSA?" he asked
She gave him a cold shoulder "Mind your business" that heard, he looked away.
Ryan sort of giggled, "You're the only child of maverick Anthony and the heir to everything he owns, what would happen to the family's business; the hospital? I think you're where you should be, best friend. Think about it, if you don't take over the family's business, who will?" he was already close to his car at the faculty's parking lot "Besides, you're doing well in medicine," he added.
At that moment three vans with tinted glasses screeched in front of their bus. The driver was quick to hold the break; his adrenaline didn't fail him. Were those people high on cheap drugs? Do they have any idea who the parents of the students on the bus were?
"Best are you still there?" Ryan asked but no response came, "Sky!..."
Armed men emptied the vans and marched to theirs. Skylar was scared as hell when the bus screeched but got even more scared when she saw the armed men approaching. The phone already left her ear so, she couldn't hear Ryan calling.
There was only one explanation for this; they were about to be kidnapped. She ended the call and her eyes went shut, she was probably going to say her last prayer.
"Sky! Can you hear me?"
Kelvin Kenshin(kk) pressed the keyless entry remote as he reached his car which was parked just next to Ryan's, it unlocked. Kelvin's car was a one million dollar worth Lamborghini; a limited edition at that. He was from a pretty wealthy family; his parents owned an airport and had other side businesses too, he was well known in school and a student no one messed with, he didn't keep friends and was nonchalant, rude, and a player who messed around with ladies but none ever came from Hamilton, he was part of the basketball team which Ryan captains. To sum it up Kelvin's a gorgeous man with a bad, stinky attitude but still, ladies wouldn't stop dreaming about him and drooling whenever he passes.
"Keep it down, this is not a marketplace Captain Ryan," Kelvin said rudely and nonchalantly. He tossed his architectural materials on the passenger seat, entered his car, and zoomed off.
"Asshole," Ryan cursed and dialed Skylar.
"What's going on ?" The students were so scared.
"They're gonna kill us all" A girl stood up and ran to the back, some followed.
"I don't wonna die yet, I'm too young" This person was in tears.
The door was automatic and could only open from inside. the next sound they heard was the sound of glass breaking; one of the armed men used the but of his gun to break the driver's window pane and pointed the gun at the driver, "open the fucking door," he yelled. More men were waiting by the door. The driver pressed the button and the automatic door slid open.
Skylar could hear the students scream but still kept her eyes shut, they were being dragged into the van, her phone began to ring and her eyes flung open.
"Who has that phone? Bring it over here!" she heard one of the men yell.
Skylar didn't move an inch yet and then the unexpected happened; she saw an angel come out of a portal with blinding white lights, his wings were amazingly large and strong, and he held something that looked like a sword but different in a heavenly way. The Angel picked up the first armed man and threw him out the window. He fought the bad guys; every single one of them, no one survived.
It seemed it was just Skylar who could see the being that looked so beautiful and strong, the others could only see the kidnappers being dragged, killed, and tossed by the invincible.
Blood was all over but they couldn't hear the sound of anyone, sword or gun. It was a pretty strange scene. When the Angel was done eliminating the bad guys, he walked from outside through the bus to Skylar. While everyone was looking around waiting to see if the being would show itself, he was there right in front of Skylar.
"The savior's gone? Why didn't he show his face?" Dylan said still a bit afraid.
"I wonder what black magic he used to conceal his identity" Everett added
"We don't even know if it's a he," Ruby said
Dylan scoffed "Do you think a lady could have done that, it can only be men"
"I can't do this with you right now. I can't believe I almost got kidnapped, I still can't believe it" That was Ruby
"I wonder who was behind this attack, I'm glad we're all safe now," Everett said looking around
"Skylar" Angel called her name
She was surprised "How do you know my name?" turns out she was the only one left on the bus.
"You summoned me here" Angel replied "I don't know how you did it but you created the portal that led me here"
"You didn't answer my question; how did you know my name and who are you?"
"I am your guardian Angel" that said, he flew away through the roof of the bus.
"Wait..." Before Skylar could get to thank him, he was already gone.
"Thank you for coming to our aid invisible being!" Everett yelled and others thanked the being too.
"Where's Skylar?" Ian who just noticed she wasn't out there asked loudly. Everyone looked around at each other but Skylar wasn't there. "Skylar" he called out her name.
"Where's Miss Maverick?" the driver asked
"We have no idea Mr.Amir" Ian replied
"Skylar!"
"Sky, where are you?" Ian called
"Look around for her, be careful not to stumble on dead bodies," Mr Amir said
They began looking around for her. Meanwhile, Skylar started walking slowly out of the bus, she was still stumped by what happened earlier, she wanted someone to wake her up from this dream, she'd only seen such a thing happen in American action fantasy films.
"Check in the bus" Dylan suggested. Ruby and Ian ran to check. They almost bumped into her at the doorway.
"Skylar? She's here" Ruby announced
"She's here, everyone gets back. Stay close" Dylan announced.
"Skylar, are you okay?" Ruby asked
Skylar didn't utter a word, the record of earlier kept replaying in her memory. She sat down in the doorway. "I'm fine, I was just very scared earlier"
"Don't worry we're all safe now thanks to the invisible being. The police are on their way here, Mr. Amir already informed the school authorities and I'm sure our parents must have heard by now, you'll be back home soon, okay?" Ruby embraced her.

Ryan was having brunch at the architecture faculty's cafeteria, he had a table all to himself when his coursemate rushed to him carrying her materials
"Ryan, have you heard?" Remi quickly took her seat opposite him
"What?" Ryan asked
"The nursing medical team was almost kidnapped earlier"
"What!"
"Few meters from Hamilton Hospital"
"Did anyone get hurt? Are they alright?"
"I don't have the whole update"
"Oh my God! Sky!" he stood up and hurried away
"Wait up, I'm coming too, my best friend" Remi followed.
Ryan found a spot to park his car, there were so many cars there already, police vans and ambulances from Hamilton Hospital. Parents were leaving with their wards, the ones that couldn't make it had their chauffeur pick them up. Ryan and Remi stopped out of the car almost at the same time and started walking their way to find their best friends.
Remi saw Ruby already leaving with her mum "Bestie" she called and they went into each other's arms.
"I thought I'd never see you again Remi, I was in the front seat, they dragged me to their van first"
"It's okay, it's all over now" Remi let go "I'm glad you're safe," she said to Ryan "Ryan, I'll leave first with them, thanks for the ride"
"Welcome" he was about to run off
"My stuff, in your car" Remi reminded
Ryan opened his car with the keyless control and ran off to find Skylar.
He found her, she was standing there, a towel on her shoulders."best"
"Ryan" they went into each other's arms.
"Aunt and uncle aren't here yet?" he asked after they disengaged.
She shook her head "But I got a call from the chauffeur, he's on his way here"
"Let me drive you home instead"
"I can't go now, the cops haven't taken my statement yet"
Ryan nodded and sighed "I was so worried...what the hell happened here?"
"You won't believe it but an Angel saved us"
"That person must be the master of martial art," he said, his eyes on the body of the bad guys the cops had lined up; about nine of them.
"It wasn't a person, it was an actual Angel best, I saw him but I think I was the only one that did 'cause I listened to the statements of those who had given and none of them mentioned anything about seeing the invisible savior," Skylar said almost in a whisper.
"Do you plan to say this in your statement?" he asked "'cause I think it's nuts. An actual Angel?"
"I'm being serious here" Ryan saw that Skylar had her serious face on "I saw him, he knows my name, he said I summoned him and I still can't figure out how ..."
Ryan cut in "Take a deep breath best" They took the breath together "I believe you but you can't say this to the cops they're sure gonna think you've gone nuts"
"I know... let's keep this between us, okay?"
"Okay," Ryan gave the okay sign with his fingers.
