The sweet smell of noodles woke Skyler up with a sweet smile on her face. She opened her eyes and closed them back due to the bright light emmiting from the window.
She sat up on the bed and yawned using the back of hand to cover her mouth while stretching the muscles in her body.
She glanced at the couch to see no sign of Chris, she got up from the bed and slipped her feet into her slippers.
She walked lazily to the kitchen and saw Chris just finished cooking, he had an apron tied to his body.
She thought she was dreaming about eating noodles when in truth Chris was the one preparing it, how sweet of him.
" Good morning " she greeted with a smile.
Chris who was yet to notice her turn around with two plates of noodles in both his hands and nearly bumped into her " Oh... You're awake, good morning " he said and smiled back.
" Yeah, I greeted you just now but I guess you didn't hear me "
" Sorry.... I was focused on cooking, did you sleep well " Chris said and started making his way to the dinning table.
" Yeah I slept like a baby " Skyler said and followed him behind.
" Here, drink this " Chris said and gave her a cup of coffee after he placed the two plates on the table.
" Thanks " Skyler said after accepting it and took a sip.
" Are still feeling pains "
" No, I'm fine now, thank you Chris "
" For what "
" For always been there for me " Skyler said
" What are friends for "
" You're more than a friend to me, you're my family " Skyler said and they both gaze at each other until Chris broke the silence between them.
" Come sit " he said.
" Just a moment " Skyler said and went to her bathroom to brush her teeth.
When she was done freshing up, she came back to the dinning room as Chris helped her pull her chair out to sit like a gentleman.
" Thanks "
" Enough of the thank you already I'm just doing my job " Chris said and went to sit on his own chair.
" So, what are we going to do about Reed and his men " Skyler said.
" We just have to be watchful and careful, I'll still need to ask Mr Ken about Reed as he had said he was his old friend "
" Old friend ? "
" Yeah, but don't you remember "
" Remember what ? " Skyler said.
" About giving Reed a scar on his face, cause that what he said that you're the one who gave him the scar on his face. When I saw it the scar, it looks pretty deep and it even changed the color of his left eye "
" Hmm I don't remember, maybe when I see his face I might remember " Skyler said while trying to remember if she had gone for any mission before and had given anyone a scar on the face.
" You want to meet him "
" No, I'm just saying maybe mr Ken might have a picture of him "
All of sudden Chris stretched his hand forward to Skyler's face and she stared at him wide eyes.
" What happened " she asked.
" Oh, you got noodles stuck on your chin " Chris said.
" Oh "
After they finished their breakfast together, Chris helped her do the dishes.
" I'm not pregnant Chris, I can do it myself " Skyler said as Chris didn't let her do a single thing.
" I know but I want to do it....So "
" So what ? "
" How is Lucas "
" Oh Lucas, he's fine we talked yesterday " Skyler said.
" When, cause I didn't see you making a call with anyone " Chris said with furrowed brows.
" No, when you were asleep he texted me "
" Oh "
" Gosh, do you believe he wanted to come over cause I told him I was having sleepless night "
" You had sleepless night ? "
" Yes, but after a while I slept off "
" So why didn't you tell him " Chris said, he was done with the dishes.
" Tell him what "
" To come over "
" What ? No "
" No ? " Chris said with raised brows.
" Lucas is so jealous he won't be happy to see you here in my house "
" Hmm I see, a jealous boyfriend "
" Who wouldn't be "
" Moi " Chris pointed to himself and Skyler laughed not aware that Chris was saying the opposite.
" I won't believe that "
" Mh -hmm " Chris hummed.
Later that day Chris and Skyler went to their SA base to meet Kendricks to know if they can get any information about Reed.
When they got to the base, they got in to see their people gathered and pointed their guns at a particular man and some other people who came with the man.
Kendricks stood facing the man, while the man had his back facing them.
" What is happening here " Skyler whispered to Chris as they couldn't get pass the crowds.
" I don't know but I think it's something serious " Chris whispered back.
" Is this how you greet your old friend " the man said.
" What are you doing here Reed " Kendricks said.
" Wait, is that man Reed " Skyler asked with wide eyes.
" I don't think so, wait here don't move " Chris said.
" Where are you going "
" I wanna confirm if he's really the one " Chris said and moved into the crowds.
" Can't I come to see how my friend is doing " Reed said with a smile.
" I don't need your visit and I'm not your friend. We stopped being friends and you know why "
" Oh, is that why your men have their guns on me " Reed said and looked around.
" It is him " Skyler gasped and covered her mouth as soon as she saw the scar on Reed's face when he looked around.
Suddenly she remembered one of the mission she had gone to kill Reed as per Kendricks order but she failed as Reed was a skillful fighter.
The fight between them had been so fierce, just when Skyler had wanted to escape as she saw that she had loosed the fight.
Reed had held her back " let me go you idiot " Skyler struggled and tried to get out of his grip.
" I don't think so young lady " Reed said.
As she saw that Reed wasn't going to let her go, she clawed his face with a skeleton hand crusher weapon which she wore on her left hand.
" Arrrgh " Reed screamed and let go off her and held his bloody face.
When he looked around he couldn't see any sigh of Skyler as she had escaped.
BACK TO PRESENT
Skyler couldn't believe that he was the one she had fought back then.
The scar on his face was so deep, she couldn't see him clearly as she was at the back of the crowds.
" They have their guns on you incase you tried to do anything stupid " Kendricks said.
" Hmm, is that how you treat me now " Reed said and the smile on his face fell.
" Reed drop your facade, you hurt one of my people. You tortured him and gave him a broken ribs "
" Atleast he didn't die, he escaped " Reed said causally.
" Easy for you to say " Chris suddenly said as he also pointed a gun towards Reed.
" Oh you're alive, you look better than I thought " Reed said with a smirk.
This made Chris angry as his blood boiled he moved his finger to the trigger, he wanted to shoot Reed dead and remove him out of existence atleast he wouldn't have to look for Skyler anymore.
" Chris put down the gun " Kendricks said.
" Oh that's your name, I'll keep that in mind " Reed said
" Put it down " Kendricks repeated " ignore him "
Slowly Chris lowered the gun and moved back and stood behind Kendricks.
" Reed, I'm going to let you go this time and don't you ever come back or else we won't be standing like this next time " Kendricks said.
" Oh, you're threatening me now Ken I was your best friend "
" I'm warning you "
Reed chuckled " I'll leave but not without the girl "
" What girl " Kendricks pretended not to know what Reed was saying.
" Oh don't pretend like you don't know what I'm saying Ken, that was how Chris pretended not to know what I was saying and I gave him what he deserved " Reed said and looked at Chris with a smirk.
Chris just ignored him, one day he will do his own payback to him.
" I don't know who you're talking about, I just need you to get out of here before I lose my patience with you " Kendricks said as he was already loosing his cool.
" What do you mean you don't f*cking know, you sent that young girl to kill me " Reed chuckled.
" A young girl, come on Ken. What do you see me as, she was just lucky to escape from me but then she gave me this parting gift on my face. Look. At. My. F*cking. Face . "
" You deserve it " Kendricks said.
" Just make sure you hide her well, cause when I get my f*cking hands on her I'm going to do worse than what she did to my face "
" That's if you succeeded which I know you never will "
" I will succeed Ken, watch and see it nice meeting you again " Reed said.
" I don't wish to ever see your face again " Kendricks said.
" Let's go " Reed said to his men and left.
" Make sure to watch his every move , dismiss " Kendricks said and everyone in the hall went their ways leaving only Skyler still standing.
" Skyler ? " Kendricks was surprised to see her when Reed was asking about her whereabouts.
If Reed had seen her he would have created a ruckus and many will be hurt.
" Mr Ken " Skyler said and ran to hug him.
" What are you doing here " Kendricks switched from being boss into his father mode.
" I came with Chris, it was actually because of Reed I came here. I wanted to ask about him from you "
" Reed was my old friend, we were friends since we were in school "
" Really "
" No way " Skyler and Chris was surprised to hear this.
" Yeah, Skyler you need to limit the way you go out. I know Reed and he meant every word he said about you " Kendricks said like a worried father to his child.
" I'll keep that in mind " Skyler said.
