Lucifer was surprised to see Skyler calling his phone by this time of the night. He raised his hand up for Jared to stop talking to know what she wanted to tell him.
" Hello " he said in his sweet voice.
" Hi....Uhm " Skyler said.
" How are you " he said with a smile on his face, even Jared was shocked to see him smiling happily like this. This was the second time for him to witness Lucifer smiling like this.
" I'm....I'm fine " Skyler said and Lucifer could hear the sadness in her voice and he frowned, the smile on his face fell.
" Are you alright " he asked.
" Yes I'm fine, I just wanted to apologise for not replying to your text earlier today "
" It's alright " Lucifer said even though he wasn't happy about it but as he heard her voice now, he was more than happy but then why was she sad.
Did something happen ?
" I... I " Skyler wanted to say something but she hestitated.
" What is it my angel " Lucifer asked, he knew she wanted to say something and he knew what she wanted to say.
" I..... Uh we will talk later, bye " Skyler said and ended the call.
" Why didn't you say it " Maya asked when she saw Skyler staring at her phone blankly.
" I.... I can't now Maya "
" Why "
" I will tell him later, but not now when Chris is still like this "
" But it doesn't.... "
" Maya please, I already heard what you said but not now okay "
" Okay " Maya agreed and didn't bother her again.
" You should get some sleep it's late " Skyler said.
" You too, good night " Maya said and slept on the couch provided for them as Skyler had refused to leave Chris side and she decided to spend the night in the hospital too.
" Good night " Skyler said.

After the call ended Lucifer still stared at his phone with a blank expression on his face.
" Well, what did she say " Jared asked.
" She wanted to say it " Lucifer answered.
" Say what "
Lucifer sighed as he dropped the phone back on the table " She wanted to tell me that she accepted but... "
" She wanted to tell you or she accepted already " Jared asked confusedly.
" Aren't your ears working anymore " Lucifer glared at Jared.
" Of course, it's working perfectly " Jared said and touched his ears as if to check if it's still working.
" Something happened to her, I can hear the sadness in her voice "
" What happened, is she hurt "
" I don't know, I need to see for myself "
" Huh..... You want to go see her in her house "
" What do you think "
" Shouldn't you just check how she's doing with your powers " Jared said forgetting there were still in dinning room and the servants could accidentally hear them.
" You better watch how you speak " Lucifer warned and Jared understood.
" I want to see her with my eyes "
" Hmm, I'll go to my room then "
" No, you're coming with me "
" What? No....Go alone I want to enjoy my beauty sleep " Jared didn't agree to go with him but when he saw Lucifer glaring daggers at him he had no choice but to follow.
" Do you know what the time is "Jared complianed.
They both left the dinning room as the servants came to clear the table, Lucifer took the elevator with Jared to his room. They couldn't disappear while the servants were still awake.
When they got to the room, Jared sat on the chair and watched Lucifer entered his walk-in closet to change his clothes.
" You know the servants will be suspicious about us going out in the night and coming back late in the middle of the night " Jared said.
" I know that, that's why we have to wait for them to fall asleep first before we go idiot " Lucifer said from his walk-in closet.
He wore causal clothing of loosed pants and a black hoodie over his head to cover his face while Jared didn't change , he was still in his blue pajamas.
When they were sure the servants were all asleep, the left the mansion as they pleased. Lucifer and Jared appeared in front of Skyler's apartment.
As they were invisible and can't be seen with the naked human eyes. Everywhere was quiet as every living breathing soul was asleep.
" Are we going to get inside her room, you know she can see you and not me "
" Who said you are following me inside her room, you wait outside here till I get back " Lucifer said.
Lucifer didn't want Jared by any chance to see Skyler sleeping with her night dress, he didn't want Jared to see a glimpse of her skin.
" Huh, you want to leave me all alone here "
" You're a demon, you can't die " Lucifer said with a smirk and left Jared standing outside.
Jared could do nothing but wait outside as he took his time to look around the place, observing it.
Lucifer came to stand in front of Skyler's room, he was inside her house and was standing in front of the door which leads to her room.
But then something doesn't feel right, he couldn't feel her presence in the room. The first time he had visited her in her house, he has felt her presence.
But he couldn't feel it now, he decided to go inside and check on her. He didn't forget the fact that she could see him so he had to be careful incase she was awake.
He didn't wish to scare her in the night and made her think of him as a spirit. When he got inside her room, he was greeted with the sight of an empty bed.
He could see perfectly in the dark as he didn't need to turn on the light. Before he could take another step he saw traces of blood on the floor.
Was she hurt ?
Where was she ?
What happened here ?
He didn't waste any time and opened his palm and a bright white light appeared out of thin air. He searched for her location and found her sitting on a chair while resting her head on her hand.
She was sleeping... sleeping next to someone laying on a bed fixed with so many devices.
What was she doing there ?
Lucifer checked the place she was and found out that she was in a hospital, he then searched the name of the hospital and the light on his palm disappeared.
He appeared right behind Jared who was shocked as he hadn't expected Lucifer to appear behind him.
" Jeez, you scared me " Jared said holding his chest.
" She is not in her room " Lucifer said ignoring him with a frown on his face.
" Where is she ? "
" In the hospital "
" What is she doing there.... Is she hurt " Jared asked.
" I don't know if she's hurt but I saw blood in her room on the floor, but when I used my powers to find her location, I found her in the hospital but she seems fine to me " Lucifer explained.
" What is she doing there in the hospital then "
" I need to go there now " Lucifer said and disappeared leaving Jared not caring if he was following him or not.
" Wait.... Jeez " Jared quickly followed him immediately.

EVERGREEN HOSPITAL
Lucifer and Jared got to the hospital not long after, it was in the middle of the night but some nurses were still patrolling about and checking on the patients.
They were unaware that the devil was walking in their midst. Lucifer didn't need to find where Skyler was as her scent took him to the particular VVIP ward she was.
" Remember she can see you " Jared reminded him.
" I know, shh be quiet " Lucifer said and stayed still as listened to Skyler's steady breathing and realized she was asleep. He got inside the ward and saw her sitting on a chair close to the patients bed.
He got close to her to observe her body searching for any sign of wound on her skin but she was perfectly okay.
His eyes then caught sight of Skyler holding Chris free hand and his face darkened instantly. He then looked at Chris whose eyes were closed with a thick bandage around his neck and shoulder.
This must be that Chris of a guy who sent her those texts ' thought Lucifer to himself.
He didn't like the way Skyler was holding his hand but then Chris looked terrible, he understood that she cared for him.
His mind calmed down a little when he remembered she had told him that he wasn't her boyfriend, just a close friend to her.
Was it because of Chris she didn't say what was on her mind to him on the phone ?
Feeling her move a little on the chair he quickly left the ward before she wakes up and see him as he noticed that she also feel his presence.
He was relieved to see that she was perfectly okay but it was Chris who was injured. But was it his blood that was in her room on the marble floor ?.
He would ask her later, she had said she would call him again later, he just hope she wouldn't forget or else he will call her himself, he wouldn't mind what Jared will say.
Jared who sat on the chair outside the ward saw that Lucifer was out " So? Is she hurt ? " he asked. If anyone were to pass by, they would meet an empty chair not knowing someone sat on it.
" No " was Lucifer's reply " Let's go ".
Jared could feel the change in Lucifer and decided not to ask him anything else again.

When the morning came, Skyler woke up due to someone shaking her shoulder gently. She opened her eyes to see Maya.
" Hey, good morning " she greeted.
" Good morning, sorry to wake you up. I wanted to tell you that I'm leaving for work "
" Oh, thank you for accompanying me "
" It's alright, you should take care of yourself too " Maya said.
" I will thank you "
" I'll come back to check on him, I just hope he wakes up soon " Maya said glancing at Chris who hadn't moved an Inch on the bed.
" Me too "
" I'll be leaving now, bye "
" Bye, be careful on your way "
" Sure, take care " Maya said and left the hospital.
Soon after the doctor came in to check on Chris " Good morning ma'am " the doctor greeted.
" Good morning sir, how is he doing " Skyler greeted back and asked about Chris health.
" I will check on him now " The doctor said and proceeded in checking Chris condition with the help of the nurses.
Skyler waited to hear the results and after some minutes, she saw the doctor took off the stethoscope from his ears after he finished checking Chris heartbeat.
" Well, he's responding fast to the treatment giving to him, we just have to wait for him to wake up. As for the broken bones in his body, it will take some time to heal "
" Will he be able to walk " Skyler asked.
" Yes ma'am, actually he broke two ribs but we have fixed it, as for the bullet holes it will heal up in no time. He was lucky you had brought him on time, he suffered from blood loss in his body but I can assure you that he is fine " the doctor said.
" Thank you so much " Skyler said.
" No problem ma'am "
" What about the payment we.... "
" You don't need to worry about it ma'am, Mr Kendricks already did that "
" Oh, okay "
" I'll leave now " the doctor said and exit the ward with the nurses.
Skyler glanced back at Chris, his face was better than yesterday, he was looking brighter. Thankfully the doctor said he was okay and she sighed a breath of relief.
