"Thank you for granting my wish."
"I'm doing this because you have changed. If you make a mistake again, I won't allow you to return.
Brugh!
"Damian!" Seraphina opened the door to her husband's room without knocking. "Are you pretending to be deaf?! I've called you so many times, but you didn't come! Are you on purpose, huh?!"
Damian did not respond. He remained sitting cross-legged with his eyes closed, ignoring the girl's ramblings.
The room was so dark.
"Where are you?! Why aren't you answering me?! Why did you turn off all the lights?" Seraphina pressed the light switch, but it didn't work. "Shit!"
Damian slowly opened his eyes and turned towards Seraphina. "There's–" he widened his eyes when he saw she only wore a bikini. "Why don't you ...." he stopped his words.
Seraphina frowned in surprise. "Why are you suddenly silent? What did you want to talk about?"
Damian just shook his head.
"Say it quickly! Don't make me curious."
Damian was on edge. There was no way he could say he had regained his sight and accidentally saw Seraphina's innocent body because she would surely go berserk and hate him even more.
"I just asked, 'Why did you call me? Do you need anything?"
"Where's your favorite nightgown? Didn't I tell you to wash it?"
"It's not dry yet."
"Damn! Can you wash it properly? Aunt Sarah is even smarter than you!"
"I've never done laundry, so I don't know."
"Fool! You should have told me from the start so I could take my clothes to the laundry!" Seraphina rushed out and slammed the door.
Damian gave a small smile. "She's so sweet and pretty despite her fierceness."
★★★
The next day.
Knock! Knock! Knock!
"Your clothes are dry."
"Come in."
Damian opened the door and was immediately treated to a beautiful sight. Namely, Seraphina changing her clothes.
'Why does that woman keep changing in front of me?'
Seraphina observed Damian silently for a while.
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
Damian stiffened but tried to remain calm. "What do you mean?"
"You've been looking at me."
"I'm blind. Did you forget?"
"But your eyes... ah, never mind." After changing her clothes, Seraphina left the room and went to the office.
Damian smiled. "Seraphina must not know that my sight has returned so that she won't hate me even more."
"Guto."
Damian immediately looked around anxiously. "You again." He said curtly.
The mysterious man's voice chuckled mockingly. "Give up. No matter how long it takes, you will not succeed in getting true love from that woman because she is mine."
"Nonsense."
"I'll kill her so that you won't come back."
"I won't let that happen."
"How annoying!"
The voice suddenly vanished as Seraphina was at the door.
"What's wrong? Who are you talking to?"
"N-no. I just-"
"Shut up! I don't want to know! Now, quickly change your clothes."
"What for?"
"Hurry up, don't ask too many questions! I'll wait for you in the living room!"
Damian snorted softly. "Can't she speak more softly to me? I'm not deaf."
Damian went to his room and changed, then met Seraphina in the living room. She was busy playing with her cell phone.
"I'm done."
"I'm so beautiful tonight, darling."
Seraphina blushed. "Really?"
"Of course. You're always beautiful to me."
Damian clenched his fists tightly in a fit of rage.
'How dare Seraphina make out with another man before me!'
"Where is your husband?"
"My husband? You mean... that loser?" Seraphina's expression turned stern. "Can you stop questioning him when we're together?"
"I'm sorry, darling. I don't want him to find out about our affair because I don't want your father to hate me and withdraw all his shares from my company."
"You don't have to worry about that, darling." Seraphina stroked Jacko's jaw with a sweet smile. "It won't happen because Damian is blind and stupid."
"I'm done." Damian smiled as if he knew nothing.
"What took you so long?"
"Sorry, I had a stomachache."
"Why are you wearing those ugly clothes? Are you trying to embarrass me in front of my family?!"
"But I was wearing the best clothes I had."
"How annoying! Hurry up and get in the car to buy clothes."
***
Damian sat at the back of the car while Jacko drove while making out with Seraphina. They smiled and joked silently so as not to make any noise. However, their efforts were in vain. Damian could see their affair.
"Why are humans so cruel?" She suddenly muttered sarcastically.
"Who are you referring to?" Seraphina glanced at Damian sarcastically through the rearview mirror.
"You think?"
"Are you insinuating me?"
"No." Damian smiled sweetly.
The car pulled up to a fancy restaurant. Seraphina pushed Damian's wheelchair towards the VVIP room, where his extended family had gathered.
'Where's Jacko? Is he not coming? Ah, why am I so stupid? There's no way Seraphina would take her mistress to meet her extended family.'
"Hello, everyone. Sorry, we're late." Seraphina smiled politely at the twenty people who were chatting.
All pairs of eyes immediately looked at them.
"So that man is Seraphina's husband?"
"I didn't expect him to be blind and disabled...."
Victoria snorted softly. From the beginning, she knew Damian's presence would cause scorn in her family.
"So he is the husband of my granddaughter?" Elizabeth, the 80-year-old woman, glanced at Victoria sarcastically. She was Victoria's mother. "Didn't you choose the wrong son-in-law? Why would you set up a disgusting man like him with my favorite granddaughter?"
"I'm sorry, Mother. But Damian is Lucius' chosen husband, so I cannot refuse him."
Seraphina and Damian sat beside each other, facing Victoria's extended family.
"It is a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Damian. I'm William, Seraphina's cousin." The blond man extended a hand to Damian.
Damian only smiled slightly, reluctantly accepting the greeting.
Embarrassed, William pulled his hand back. "It turns out you're arrogant, huh, brother." He chuckled sarcastically.
"Sorry, I can't see. Did you extend your hand?"
"I'm sorry. I thought you were just jobless, not blind."
Seraphina's cousins stifled their laughter while Victoria and Seraphina could only hold back their embarrassment. If it weren't for Lucius' request, they wouldn't have bothered to invite Damian.
Damian chose to remain silent because he was too lazy to argue.
"You'd better shut up before I hate you even more," Seraphina whispered.
"Oh, yes. I heard you will be named CEO of Magas, that prestigious company. Is that true?" Victoria's eyes lit up as she said that.
William nodded. "That's right, Auntie. I've been chosen to lead the company."
"I'm so proud of you, darling. You're still so young, but you're already a CEO."
"Of course I am. Because for me, a man must be successful and never be a burden to his family. Especially in his wife's family. Right, Damian?"
Silence. The atmosphere suddenly became tense. Victoria's extended family turned to Damian to see his reaction. They expected the deformed man to be angry, embarrassed, or offended.
"I agree with you." Damian smiled broadly. "I'm also proud that Seraphina has a great cousin like you. Because you could become CEO at a young age, even if you had to become the mistress of the company owner's wife."
William was wide-eyed.
"Asshole! Watch your language!" Jennifer, William's mother and Victoria's sister snapped at Damian.
"I'm sorry for exposing him, Aunt Jennifer. But I did it so he wouldn't be too proud of his accomplishments."
"I know you're jealous of me, but can you stop talking nonsense about me? Because I can report you to the police." William asked with a smile. He tried to be calm even though his heart almost stopped beating.
"If I can't, what then?"
