Chereads / The Blind Swordsman. / Chapter 9 - [Dreams Academy]

Chapter 9 - [Dreams Academy]

After returning to his room, Mark sighed as he packed his things to head to the capital.

'Fucking disgusting bastard, if you didn't have your use, I would have slit your neck this very instance!' Mark thought inwardly while a pleased smile was plastered on his face, since;

– Even walls had eyes and ears –

'Hah! And what did I expect? Wasn't Alfred one of the main characters of the game's story line? I had forgotten him since he was a third-rated cringey villain at the early stages.' Mark remembered.

Mark had declined to join Slade's personal knights order when he was asked to join thanks to his prowess, though the news was buried between Mark, Slade, and the knight order's commander, it was still a dent to Slade's bloated aristocratic ego.

Since then, Mark had been assigned to the [First Defence Wall] whenever the monster wave began from the [Tower Of Wrath] which harboured the south of the Dasiris Empire, in hopes of getting Mark killed, but he always survived and came on the top, getting stronger than ever with each disaster thrown at him.

To Mark, Slade was like a Demon King who unknowingly and egoistically helped the Hero to grow stronger to later kill his own ass, while wouldn't even understand how the Hero grew so strong.

The current Mark could easily kill Slade and usurp his position as the Lord of the South, but what comes after was too troublesome which was the reason Slade was alive till date; of course, that wasn't the only reason Slade was kept alive.

Anyway, it was finally time to head to the academy which was the most important factor of the game's story mode.

'Let's check the status window before I leave this shithole...'

KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK-!

'Son of a man-whore is here....' Mark thought as he turned to face back at the door with a "bright," "almost radiating" smile, which was so fake that her/she could easily understand it if he/she wasn't an idiot.

"Come on in, Mr Alfred."

"Are you ready to leave, Mark?" The idiot, ahem! Alfred asked while he stood in front of Mark's room door with an excited grin.

Mark channelled his Ki into the spatial ring that adorned his left thumb finger which sucked in Mark's luggage before he turned in the direction where Alfred's heartbeat was heard and nodded his head in affirmation to Alfred's question.

"I'm ready."

*

A week of travelling through the teleportation gates and the speed carriages;

Marken and Alfred had finally arrived at the [Dreams Academy].

The academy was exhalant-ly extravagant and seemed to be easily able to top any other fantasy academy with its beautifully artistic structure alone.

The entry to the gates of the [Dreams Academy] was crowded with millions of trainees and examinees walking in and walking out of the academy gates laughing and smiling as they spoke about gossips and topics of their lives in the academy. The trainees had different weapons and artefacts adorning their waists, fingers, and necks; including a few spatial rings on the fingers of a few with enough gold to afford them.

The weapons were hung around waists and backs of the trainees even when the weapons could be held within the spatial ring was because of the time it takes to take out the things placed inside the spatial rings.

Mark's pale complexion, red blindfold, and the sheathed sword hung on the waist garnered him more attention than required, while Alfred's pale complexion, unique white-hair, and blue-eyes were enough to give away his identity as the son of the Duke of the Eternal Winter in the south.

Which helped them assume and conclude Mark's identity to be a knight assigned to guard the southern front's successor.

"Well, bye then?" Alfred said as he glanced at Mark, who stood calmly and confidently.

"Yes, goodbye it is, Young Master Alfred." Mark nodded his head without glancing at Alfred and began to walk into the crowd which was entering the academy.

"How will you get inside!?"

Alfred asked in a yell but got no reply from Mark, who want invisible in the crowd.

*

Mark had used his footwork and had already entered the academy gates; although he heard Alfred, he just didn't care enough to answer him.

CLICK-!

Mark unclipped his sheathed sword hung on his waist and swung it as it came to a halt behind his forearm while he held the sheathed sword in a reverse grip.

BUMP-!

"Hey! Can't you see where you are goi-" A monotonously rasp voice of a young woman nearly deafened Mark's sensitive ears, but when the woman seemed to have turned to face him, her words got stuck in her throat as her heart skipped a beat, not in a romantic manner but in shock.

"Why? Do you want to give me your eyes if I can't see?" Mark's cold and husky voice sounded threateningly in the woman's ears, but before she could speak Mark continued.

"Watch where you are going next time..... Stupid bitch..." Mark said and cursed under his breath as he began to walk away.

Leaving behind a shocked and dumbfounded crowd and a young woman who had triangle body shape, unruly crimson red flames-like hair, blood red and tears filled eyes adorning her beautifully puffed up, angry, pouting face.

"Hey!" The young woman yelled at the blindfolded man walking away and rushed towards him when she noticed that he wasn't stopping. What she didn't notice was the heat her body was oozing thanks to her fiery personality.

'"Hey!" She placed her arm on Mark's right shoulder while he contemplated on whether to behead the annoying woman or not and decided against it because the academy may not accept his killer-like behaviour.

"..... What?" Mark asked after heaving a deep sigh as he thought 'How troublesome and difficult everything is....'

"Apologise to me this instance! Do you know who I am!?" The woman asked in yell, but Mark merely turned to face the direction of the young woman's voice and heartbeat without a change in his expression which gave off an impression of; 'how would he know when he was blind?' and then tilted his head slightly as if asking whether the woman was stupid.

Trying to control her raging anger, "I'm Elfrida von Algere!" Elfrida exclaimed in disbelief and rage.

"Is that so? Hmm.... So? I still haven't understood why I should be apologising to you, right now." Mark said in his same husky cold tone.

"That's because!! That's because..." Elfrida turned silent in utter disbelief.

"Return when you have a reason; till then, don't bother me." Mark said as he began to walk towards the academy once again.

"H-hey!!" Elfrida yelled as she followed after him.

"You should introduce yourself when you already know my name!!" Elfrida yelled.

"What bullshit is that?" Mark mumbled under his breath before he began to walk away ignoring her.

"Hey! Hey!!!"

After a few seconds, "Are you alright, Elfrida!?" Elfrida's friend, Huxley Crawforde, a young woman of the Crawforde County, asked from a distance.

"..... Why are you standing so far away?" Elfrida asked with a frown.

"Because of the heat you are releasing!" Huxley said while pointing around herself where rest of the trainees stood.

'Oh!' Elfrida exclaimed inwardly and controlled the heat surrounding her, before her disbeliefs heightened to a new level as she snapped her head to gaze at the walking away back of the blind man, who held a sheathed sword in left hand.

'How did he not even flinch at the amount of heat surrounding me?! Didn't I touch him!!!?'
