Chapter 5 - SUDDEN REALIZATION

SUDDEN REALIZATION

Xavier seemed paused for a while, reminiscing on the warning Ryder had just given him, before turning to Ryder with a raised brow.

He sneered.

"Why should I stay away from her, is she a plague or something?" he asked with a raised brow, obviously trying to annoy him more.

Although he sensed the meaning and warning behind his initial order, he still tried to pull his legs more to get his reactions.

Ryder turned to him with a raging glare, his original golden eyes had turned like that of the depth of a burning fire, and his expression was like one that could kill Xavier at that moment.

"Okay, fine, fine. I heard you!" He relented, with his hands raised in a surrender position.

"But why making a fuse about me talking or staying with her, I mean, she's single, no one had laid claim on her" Then he exclaimed exaggeratedly, "Don't tell me you like her already"

Ryder sighed, frustrated.

"Stop talking nonsense, you know I hate it when someone is interested in something I already laid my possession on. And also, you know the main purpose why she was brought here"

Xavier sighed and nodded.

He had forgotten about the main reason for her being brought here after he laid his eyes on her when she walked down the stairs in that green dress, matching her green eyes, and her bright flawless caramel skin, that shone under the light, resembling that of a fallen angel.

Ryder shouldn't know about his thoughts if he still wanted his head intact. He knew he shouldn't be having these thoughts about his brother's pet, but he couldn't help it, adding to her beautiful small face.

"Are the goods off-loaded?" Ryder asked after the long silence, then continued sucking in and puffing out smokes from his tobacco.

"Yes! And that reminds me, I got a report a rogue secretly hid and followed the truck that brought the goods and he entered the warehouse to steal some but was caught" Xavier reported, his eyes were fierce and serious, not the normally cheerful and flirty looks he usually shows.

Ryder smirked dangerously, "I guess it's time to have some fun"

With that said, he opened the car door and stepped out, Xavier followed suit, and they walked away through the darkness, to the backside of the mansion.

As they walked further, a building that looked old but big came into view. Wails and groans of a man could be heard from the building as they approached the large door, guarded by two guards.

They both bowed their heads at their master and second in command before opening the door to the warehouse.

When they both walked inside, Ryder sighted a bloodied man on his knees, clutching his belly and five muscular-bodied bodyguards surrounded him, each holding a rod.

A guard was about to hit him with the rod in his hand when Ryder raised his hands, signifying for them to stop.

Ryder strode slowly but elegantly to where the kneeling man who was bathed in his blood was, his hands in his pants pockets.

"You dare sneak into my den to steal from me?" he looked down at the man who cried silently.

"Answer me!!" Ryder growled and then kicked the man on his stomach.

The man fell to the floor, holding his stomach and groaning in pain. He coughed out blood and then tried to get up.

"I...I...did..didn't steal any..anything. I was...I was sent to come... "

"Who sent you?" Ryder asked calmly.

The man was quiet, not ready to spill out the name of the one who had sent him.

"Talk!!" this time, it was Xavier who ordered and then sent a slap to the man's face.

"Ahhh!" The man held his face, tears rolling down his bloodied face.

"It was...it was McDon who sent me" the man finally spilled the messenger's name.

Ryder had a knowing smirk on his lips.

"I knew it, he never fails to impress me"

Then his face turned cold and he turned to a big-bodied muscular guard.

"Amputate his two hands and send him back to his master to relay my message" That said, he turned away, towards the door.

The man's eyes widened.

"No...No...No...please don't do this to me, I promise to never come here. Spare me!!" His pleas were on deaf ears as Ryder and Xavier walked out of the building.

And in the next few seconds, screams could be heard from the building, disrupting the silence of the night.

Meanwhile, in Alyssa's room, she was still wide awake lost in thought lying on the bed when she heard a faint scream from the outside.

Creasing her brow, she sat up on her bed, thinking she heard the sound wrongly but it came again and she intended to go look out of her window.

But then she halted her steps when she heard the sound of her ringtone.

Thankfully, he had allowed her to use her phone when she needed to.

She quickly ran to where her phone was and when she saw the caller ID, her eyes widened in shock and excitement.

It was Kyle!

She quickly answered the call and she was the first to talk.

"Hey Kyle!" she called excitedly, already forgotten about the strange noise she had heard earlier.

"Aly! Oh my God! Thank God you finally answered. How have you been? You never showed up at work again. Is everything okay?" Kyle asked worries and anxiety laced in his words.

Alyssa blushed feeling his concern for her, butterflies buzzing in her stomach.

"I'm fine Kyle. You don't have to trouble yourself..."

"Why shouldn't I? Your parents told me your aunt from country A came to take you there so you can get a more paying job and you never told me about it." He cut her off, feeling disappointed she never told him before flying out of the country.

He had only learned about her departure three days later after he didn't see her at the bar.

Alyssa sighed feeling sad and grateful at the same time.

She was feeling down because he didn't know the real truth behind her disappearance and that she was still in the same country.

And she felt grateful because her parents made it easier for them both by lying to him. She didn't want him getting mad knowing she was for another man. Also, she could go back to him anytime she was finally relieved from Ryder and she could go back to him, without him knowing what transpired.

"I'm sorry I never told you. It was urgent and I didn't get the chance to tell you." She went with the flow.

"It's okay! It's just that...I missed you Aly" He said in a whisper, his voice hoarse making her heart flutter.

She smiled biting her lips.

"I missed you too" she also whispered back.

Then she realized something, she was never gonna see him, for God knows how long!!
