An old blue Cadillac pulled up in the parking lot of a small family owned pizza shop called Papa Peter's Pizza. The street was busy outside in the run down strip mall. Some classic car event was going on nearby in the parking lot. Davey and Cora climbed out of the Cadillac and looked around.
" What a strange place to have to meet someone" Cora said as she pulled her jacket tighter.
" I know" Davey responded." You would think they would want to meet somewhere more top shelf than this dive".
" I just hope Germ will be awake by the time we get back. I get bad vibes all around from all of this" Cora confided.
" It'll all be good. Germ has dealt with worse and when we get all of this over we will have enough cash to do whatever we want." Davey shrugged. " I know well enough how tough he is and besides dealing with the craziness of the dragons it's mostly win win".
The pair spotted the red sports car they were told to be on the lookout for. They were making their way towards the pizza place when someone bumped into them and fell over on her ass. The young woman wore rainbow colored hair in the form of two braids hanging down both sides of her shoulders. She had a black leather jacket covered in patches and pins and ripped up jeans .
" Oh my, I'm so sorry I didn't even see you at all" Cora stated and held her hand out to the woman who took it and helped herself up.
" It's my fault really" the woman said. " I wasn't paying attention and walked right into you guys like a doofus".
" It's all good" Davey said. " No real harm at all done. My name is Davey and this is Cora" he smiled at her.
" Nice to meet you both. My name is Erin." She looked around a moment. " You both seem like you aren't from here. I don't recognize either of you anyways".
" We were just passing through and decided to get a bite" Davey said quickly.
" You two sure make a cute couple" Erin chuckled. " Enjoy the pizza. It's definitely not the best place here , but the atmosphere is fun" .
" Oh we aren't a couple" Davey laughed a little. " We are good friends. Been mates since we were kids".
Cora secretly flashed him a little look and nudged into him playfully. " Yeah he is like my brother".
" Sorry I wasn't aware. Just thought you were a couple" Erin grinned at them. " Maybe we will run into each other again" she said as she slowly walked off towards the car show.
" Nice to meet you" Cora said loudly as her and Davey walked into the pizza place.
In the corner of the pizza place a man in a nice white suit sat at a table with his feet kicked up. He had gold trimming to the suit and long blond dreadlocks which was definitely out of place with the rest of him. Sunglasses sat on his head and he grinned from ear to ear at the pair walking into the pizza parlor. Holding up a bottle of wine aloft and waving it at them. Davey and Cora both shrugged and walked over to him.
" You two are the salt of the Earth" the man said. " Just seeing you both tells me old Apollo chose correctly. He sure knows his people".
Davey stared at the man for what seemed like minutes in a confused state. Than he finally spoke up " What the hell does that even mean , man".
" Nothing. Nothing. " The odd man laughed. " I assume you are here for the package. I have it right here. First come and have a drink with old Nysus. Life is so much better with love and laughter" he winked. " And alcohol of course".
Cora chuckled a little bit. She definitely liked the man and somehow that Erin girl knew the atmosphere was great in here. Did she mean because of this man or just in general? Didn't matter really she thought to herself as she took a seat and a cup. Davey joined in and took a drink himself. Why not he figured, it was an added reward.
The man who called himself Nysus pulled a backpack from beneath the table and slid it over to Davey with a nod. He himself then took a long savory sip from a cup. " Best alcohol ever , and who would have thought it would be made at some little hole in the wall parlor".
" Damn that is good" Davey said surprised after his own sip. " Best I've ever drank ".
Cora took a sip herself and just like Davey had enjoyed the drink more than any others before. She had moved her arm and felt something odd in her jacket that she knew hadn't been there before. Pulling the odd tube out of her pocket she began to study it " How strange . This wasn't here before".
Nysus looked nervously at the tube and in a flash jumped across the table and snatched it from Cora " Don't touch that" than with a quick arm he flung it across the room where luckily no one else had been and it exploded into odd green mist and glitter. " We all need to leave right now . Just trust me on that. Grab the bag and go".
Nysus glided across the room with his speed as he ran out the door. Davey and Cora followed quickly behind. They weren't about to get caught up not listening when they had no idea what was going on.
" You two head out and go back where you came from and don't talk to anyone at all. Let one of the twins know what happened and they will explain it. I need to escape and go hide now" old Nysus said hurriedly and ran off down the road faster than anyone either Davey or Cora had seen.
Davey and Cora jumped in the Cadillac and were both quite puzzled and scared. Neither said a word as Davey quickly drove off with the backpack in tow back towards the house they were sent from which was a few states over. The ride was going to be long and hopefully they wouldn't run into any more craziness. Davey was beginning to think none of the money offered was worth this kind of madness.
