Chapter 17 - From the Sky

In the depths of his mind, Murky found himself thinking about the apparent lack of intelligence that surrounded the raptors before him.

Ding!

"Do these raptors truly lack the awareness to have meaningful conversations about their plans while I'm here in front of them?"

He thought silently, his thoughts echoing through his mind.

Their conversation and language were similar to that of the real world, but they couldn't recognize that Murky was present as a player.

"Or they just really think I'm as insignificant as an ant that they could ignore my presence?"

He asked himself, his voice a whisper in his thoughts.

Murky couldn't help but be amazed by their audacity, talking about their evil plan without realizing that he was among them, observing everything they said.

"Or maybe," he wondered with a furrowed brow and a piercing gaze, "they think I have a special position in this village and is a part of it, and can't possibly come from the real world because I am riding a special mount?"

The thought made him chuckle subtly.

"Oh, how arrogant these lizards are, telling me their plan," he thought, finding it amusing.

Their plan was simple.

They acted like weak dragons, afraid of the group of giant Draugrkins Draugr warriors of this village, and to also avoid being targeted.

When the bloody battle ended, or when they have a chance, they transformed into prehistoric animals and attacked the injured, whether it's a player, Draugr warriors or dragons themselves.

They are also planning to go to the area where players usually go after being sent into this nightmare after these raptors killed a lot of people on this battlefield.

"Well impressive plan but, aren't they too confident?"

Murky mumbled in disbelief to their plans.

Did these fools really plan to go to the very place where he had defeated the first two unsuspecting players?

The idea filled him with both pity and contempt, igniting a burning disdain in his heart but still, he admit, they are commendable.

"But I can say they are not that pathetic."

Meanwhile, the three fast-running predators, their faces showing surprise, stood motionless, their leader, the biggest of them, finally finding his voice amidst his thoughts.

"Are you one of the players, by any chance?"

He asked, his voice filled with a combination of admiration and disbelief.

The predators, in their true shapes in the real world, knew they were using native languages in this terrifying realm, and they couldn't communicate in the language of dragons.

Therefore, the presence of a Draugrskin who not only understood but also spoke their language was a puzzle they couldn't understand.

At the same time, Murky found himself caught in a whirlwind of conflicting emotions.

He was astonished by his own carelessness but also felt a sense of urgency.

Engaging them in conversation was a mistake that went against the essence of his purpose in this realm. But in the midst of the chaos, a familiar cry in the sky filled the air, sparking inspiration in his clever mind.

"Ah, these pitiful creatures," he smiled secretly, barely whispering.

"I won't reveal that I'm a player because my advantage lies in the shadows of uncertainty."

With a pretended expression of ignorance, Murky opened his mouth, his voice a meticulously crafted mask of innocence.

"A player, you say? Please, explain to me what that strange term means," he asked, his voice tinged with innocence and mischief shining in his eyes.

But then, in a swift change, his eyes transformed into narrow openings resembling a dragon's intense stare.

"I can see that you three are magnificent creatures, capable of surpassing your original shapes and reaching the peak of your strength," he declared, his voice becoming majestic.

"I have eyes of extraordinary power within me, eyes that can communicate with dragons on a level beyond mortal understanding. It would be wise for you to reconsider any harmful intentions you might have towards me, so let's just have a regular conversation."

A quiet laugh escaped Murky's lips, full of arrogance like a young master from the Eastern fantasy novel stories, revealing his amusement at his own words.

Meanwhile, he allowed his gaze to shift slightly, fixing his eyes on the creature with the bewildering mix of bird, dragon, bull, and horse, the creature that was carrying him.

Watching its frantic movements, Murky nodded knowingly, a smile playing on his lips.

"Ah, this creature, scared of its upcoming end, has lost awareness of what's happening around it," he thought quietly.

"But it lacks focus…

"Doesn't matter, it's my advantage."

In the tense situation, the raptor in the middle asked his question again, his voice filled with curiosity, "You're not a player?"

His sharp gaze pierced through Murky, while the raptors on the right and left stood amazed, their eyes fixed on the young boy.

Murky, however, remained calm, knowing that this clever raptor was trying to figure out his true intentions.

With a pretend look of innocence, he tilted his head to the side, his expression showing confusion.

"A player?"

He repeated, his voice fading for a moment before he continued, "So the dragons have a word for people like me, huh?" But deep inside, he couldn't help but suppress a laugh, enjoying the idea of the raptors' minds getting mixed up as they struggled to understand who he really was.

Without warning, the raptor on the right stepped forward, his voice full of energy, "I knew it!"

He exclaimed, his excitement noticeable.

"That kid has amazing eyes, maybe that's why he can understand our language. No wonder they let him ride an impressive mount among others who are surely stronger than him. He must be really important!"

"Let's eliminate him! He realized he was in deep trouble and attempted to delay by asking us to have a conversation while being chased, because the giant humans were unaware of our plan, allowing him to leave.

"Let's go!! because he might be concealing vital information too, such as the possibility that he was sent to retrieve medicine for their injuries as well," the raptor on the right said with excitement.

The raptor on the left nodded, agreeing with his companion's observation.

After a moment of thinking, the bigger raptor in the middle spoke again, his voice carrying a newfound sense of authority,

"Maybe you are indeed important, especially in battle.

"Maybe you have the ability to understand what dragons think, helping you lead your warriors and assist them in fighting these powerful creatures.

"Am I right to assume that?"

As the bigger raptor thought about his own words, a feeling of pride swelled within him.

"With my strategic skills," he pondered, a hint of self-satisfaction in his eyes.

"Coming here, we will catch the greatest prize of all. Is there anything more deserving of pride than that?"

With a determined nod, he signaled for the others to follow, springing into action with newfound speed and solid determination.

Suddenly, Murky's eyes widened in disbelief, his mind spinning from the unbelievable conversation happening in front of him.

He stuttered, unable to find words, struggling to understand the raptors' intentions.

The three raptors noticed Murky's reaction and couldn't help but feel thrilled, mischief shining in their eyes. The raptor on the right couldn't contain his excitement and exclaimed.

"Look at that! We've hit the jackpot! The Nightmare said taking out the strongest and most important targets would bring us the biggest rewards! We got him!"

Meanwhile, Murky was left speechless, his mind filled with conflicting thoughts.

He quietly thought to himself, "Maybe they aren't as simple-minded as I thought," a flicker of amusement in his eyes.

"But have they gotten too caught up in their own assumptions?"

Shaking his head slightly, he contemplated his next move.

He raised his left hand and pointed not towards the sky, but directly at the approaching raptors.

Undeterred by Murky's actions, the raptors were determined to claim whatever prize awaited them, regardless of Murky's intentions.

Suddenly, with a swift motion, a burst of energy shot out not from Murky's hand, but from the sky, speeding towards the raptors' heads one after another.

The blast hit its targets with a loud impact, yet the raptors, focused on the source of the attack, couldn't figure out where it came from.

When they turned their attention back to Murky, their laughter filled the air, especially the raptor on the right, who found the situation highly amusing.

"Haha! What's that? A last resort!?"

Scoffed the raptor on the right, his voice filled with mockery.

"Just a little scratch, is it!?"

He taunted, a sly grin forming on his snout. But as the force of the attack registered in his senses, he realized it was more than a scratch. It was a significant power, though not overwhelming.

The raptors could endure it without being hindered or hurt.

Meanwhile, a smile spread across Murky's face as he confidently said, "That's just two."

Confusion clouded the minds of the three raptors, uncertainty evident on their wide-eyed faces.

"Huh?"

They collectively questioned.

However, before they could make sense of the situation, another energy blast descended upon them, hitting their backs with a resounding "Kabam!"

This time, the impact was much more severe.

Blood flowed from their wounds, revealing torn flesh and exposed muscles.

Pain coursed through their bodies, reminding them of their vulnerability.

That's when they stopped taunting Murky.

Still, they were running with a similar speed as earlier but he could see that everything was registering in their reptile heads.

Murky, acknowledging their resilience, muttered quietly, and with intelligence, he spoke in his head, 'Well, reptilian mutated genes.'

He then addressed the three wounded raptors, grudging admiration in his voice, "That's four."

Recognizing that Murky was not someone to be taken lightly, the raptors quickly scattered in different directions, each seeking safety from the impending danger.

The one in the center, however, employed a zigzagging strategy, skillfully avoiding any potential threats that crossed its path.

Murky's frustration reached its peak as he muttered under his breath.

"Huh?"

Beads of sweat formed on his forehead, evidence of the tension gripping him, they are still coming after him.

Suddenly, Murky's attention shifted to the raptor on the left side, who unknowingly met its demise.

A thunderous explosion echoed through the air, causing the raptor's flesh to disintegrate into a shower of small, bloody fragments.

Its back resembled a horrifying excavation site, revealing its ribs, heart, and intestines like a grim treasure unearthed from its reptilian body.

The raptor on the right side slowed down, its reptilian eyes reflecting pain and a range of emotions.

It tried to utter a warning, a desperate plea for help, "Nooo!!" but its cry was silenced by another devastating blast.

In an instant, the upper body of the raptor on the right side was obliterated, leaving behind nothing but a gruesome void.

Meanwhile, Murky should have taken pleasure in the demise of his adversaries, but he found himself stunned by the action of the lone surviving raptor in the middle.

Despite witnessing the deaths of its companions, the creature persisted in its relentless pursuit, zigzagging with unwavering determination.

"Isn't it going to stop?"

Murky wondered aloud, a sense of disbelief coloring his words.

As the creature accelerated, its movements growing even faster, a shiver ran down Murky's spine.

His body froze as he locked eyes with the creature, feeling an eerie intensity emanating from within it.
