Chapter 9 - Demy Boy

Demyan

"Pa wanted me to apologise so I'm here to apologise," I clasped my hands behind my back as I stood at the foot of her bed.

She rolled over onto her back then looked at me with a pout, "You're great at apologising lad."

"Oh Vasilisa, cut the shit and tell me what is going on," I sighed, "I thought you liked Malia."

"Well I thought so too."

"Are you upset about Christina not calling? You know she can go radio silent for a few days. It's kind of her job to be untraceable," I sat down and gently shook her leg, "Come on Lisa, I know you're feisty but it's normally justified."

"You must be properly chuffed that you're having a baby, with a beautiful girlfriend and a beautiful little family and that you left your twin sister behind," her face grew redder by the second.

I tilted my head to the side and brushed my long curly hair behind my shoulders, "What do you mean that I left you behind?"

"Well you've been a hot shot in Russia and France. You forgot all about me," she huffed, "We've always been Demyan and Vasilisa."

"And we've never stopped," I frowned, "I thought you were happy because you were chasing after the CEO title for the company."

"I was," she looked up to the ceiling with a blank expression, "But it didn't go so well."

"What do you mean?" I frowned. "Dad told me you were proper smashing it."

"I was until I messed up the biggest contract for the enterprise by being sassy. Imagine fifty billion flushed down the toilet because I told off some executive who was being proper rude. I made a whole mess of it. Dad tried to fix it but it was too late. No one wanted me to handle things afterwards and I didn't want to bring down the Coleman reputation so I let Dad give the title to Ethan."

"Why didn't you voice this concern?"

"I realised I didn't want the CEO title anymore. I think it was a dream and once I got there I absolutely hated it. At least I'm COO."

"You're still young Vasilisa, there's no rush to figure things out right now."

She sat up and shrugged, "You're my twin brother and you're killing it."

I let out a chuckle, "We both know it wasn't a clean path, but I never left you behind Vasilisa. We're a family and even if I'm kilometres away you know if you call I'll hop on the jet and come straight to you. Christina is safe because she is just as good as Uncle Vlad. She's literally worse than a damn cockroach."

That made her smile softly, "I'm sure of it."

"I love you," I kissed her forehead, "And we shouldn't fight each other. I'm home now and I promise I'll make up for lost time."

"I love you too."

We hugged for a few seconds as I shook her about, "Come on let's have dessert. Pa is going to kill us if we don't."

Eventually we went back downstairs and continued with dinner like nothing happened. We stayed together well into the night and until we were all tired we finally went back to our rooms.

My bedroom had not really changed much over the years. I guessed because my style had always been as bland as it was now. Obviously a few sentiments and photos had been removed but everything was still the same.

I had my bags laid out on the floor as I unpacked. A knock on the door caught my attention.

"Come in."

Dad peeked in with a small smile and a cup of hot chocolate with a bunch of marshmallows on top with whipped cream. It was my favourite treat that he would spoil me with when I was younger and it still was.

I beamed as I made grabby hands then gladly took it from him, "Thank you Dad."

"My pleasure," he plopped himself down next to me on the floor and sifted through my clothes, "You don't wear skirts these days."

"I don't think that's much of an option in Russia," I laughed before I took a sip of the delicious sweet treat.

"That's true," he chuckled, then rested his back against my bed, "I'm sure you've heard the news about Ethan."

"I have," I nodded, "He deserves it. He has worked hard."

"We are throwing him a party this week to introduce him to our business clients and partners. All the family will be there. I would like for you to come. It would mean a lot to me. I know you haven't seen each other in months but I would like for us to have a family unit you know."

I pursed my lips and stared at the bags in front of me. "Wouldn't it be better if I didn't come? Won't it make things awkward?"

"Only if you make it awkward," he smiled, "Plus I've already told him you're coming."

"Dad," I gaped.

He let out a hearty laugh, "He paled for a second. It was funny to see. You two are grown now and you've moved on. Just be mature about the situation. You're practically brothers as well. You don't have to stay for too long. Just for an hour and you'll make me the happiest father in the world."

I looked at him with a tired expression but decided to not argue with him once again. When Dad asked you something it was simply out of courtesy. He had long made up his mind that I would attend the party and all I could do was go along with it for his sake.

"For you Dad I'll go."

He clapped and kissed the side of my head in excitement. "I knew I could rely on you. You're a star, Demy boy."

"Goodnight Dad," I smiled as he stood up and headed for the door.

"Goodnight son, see you in the morning. We're taking a jog in the morning and you'll be joining us."

"Wouldn't miss it for the world."
