My heart sped in my chest as I positioned Demyan exactly where I wanted him to be. He was cold I could tell by the way he held his hands together and laced his fingers. His broad shoulders were hunched to preserve heat and I wished I had dressed him in the warm puffer before I brought him outside.
The night was terribly cold but at least the London sky had been gracious enough to expose the dark blue night. It was impossible to see the stars here because of the city lights but the fairy lights I had purposefully put across the patio beams resembled what I would have envisioned. Back in New Zealand Demyan and I would sit for hours out by the beach star gazing.
Most times we fell asleep on the beach as well but it was my favourite moments with him. I wanted to recreate it but I regretted not taking him out to the cabin. I could have been able to execute my vision better.
