Huiqing felt a cool breeze over her face instead of the harsh Foehn she was expecting. This was the Jade Mirage Dunes. It hasn't rained here for countless millennia. During the day the sun was so hot that it could burn one's skin. Even the horse was made to wear soles made of jade silk grass.
Surprised, she looked back, craning her neck slightly only to see the man looking ahead with his sharp eyes narrowed, his face indifferent.
"Thank you." She spoke gently in an almost inaudible whisper before turning back to the front again.
'He probably didn't hear me.' She thought to herself, unable to notice the man's softened expression with a smile lingering on his face.
From the south to the north east was a long journey. Fenhua had taken the shortest route possible and yet they had to cross the jade mirage dune, the whispering willow lake and the bamboo cloud woodlands before finally arriving at the long road leading to the palace.
