Chereads / Return Of The Vengeful Heiress / Chapter 11 - Such Generousity?

Chapter 11 - Such Generousity?

"Patience is a virtue. Impatience leads to instinct led actions that do not take consequences into account. To master the formation of magic elements, the most important skill is mastering one's own emotions. Staying calm, steady is the only way to make the spirits willingly submit to you. Regardless of the condition one has to be able to remain aware of the consequences the tiniest of their actions will lead to. True freedom is the essence of conquering elements."

Concise and apt - Lanying had the thought after going through the letter. But why does it seem like the person is trying to insult her by saying that she is too arrogant and impatient? She pouted before folding the letter and putting it back inside the drawer.

Controlling her own emotions? Hmm..what can she do to achieve that? Meditation? She has tried that already. No sage is willing to teach her. What else? A walk in the greenery to calm her mind? No..that won't work, every time she visits either snippets of the past come up in her mind or her mischievous side is triggered. Nevermind she will just ask the advisors and teachers over there. For now she will just focus more on creating a few potions which might come in handy in the near future.

"How can a princess accuse me like that? I had something to discuss with the princess, but you didn't give me the opportunity to do so." Ji Fenhua spoke slowly with a doting look, baffling Jiyanyu who couldn't help but feel aggrieved.

He didn't even behave in an inappropriate manner and invited his fury, however he behaved so politely with Huqing who actually indirectly insulted him. He isn't a prince but he still holds enough authority in the kingdom, shouldn't he deserve a better treatment?

"Young Duke, your presence is needed in the hall room. I don't think you should make Elder Yan wait for you." Ji Fenhua said, turning to him. His tall stature was blocking Huqing from his view.

Jianyu felt relieved. He couldn't wait to maintain his distance from this weird tempered sickly pale mysterious prince. But Qing'er…..Never mind, she is bold enough to deal with it, unlike him. He will just let her grandfather call her back.

"Then I shall take my leave." He shot Yan Huqing a comforting look before leaving.

"So? What is it that you want to discuss with me?" She asked impatiently.

"You are skilled in preparing healing potions." He said casually.

"Yeah, so? Can't you say everything at one go?" She retorted. She was finding this conversation to be anything but pleasant.

Fenhua looked at her annoyed expression which she was trying hard to suppress. He didn't want to annoy her anymore. What if she refused to accept his proposal? No! He couldn't give in to the temptation to continue teasing her.

"I have the herb you have been searching for. I can give it to you." He said.

Huiqing was suspicious. Such generosity? That also from this person? Wait he didn't say that he would just give it to her for free. He said he 'can'. That means he definitely wants something in exchange. But what can it be? He could just ask her brother in that case. She doesn't have much say in political matters of the court to begin with.

"What do I have to do in exchange?" She asked, straightening her back.

"Accompany me to the camp in the outskirts and provide healing potions to the injured soldiers."

She had always been passionate about researching various healing potions, formations as well as herbal therapies. However, she had never thought of being able to actually help people with her skills. Her eyes glowed with happiness. Isn't it a double reward? This prince isn't as bad as she thought of him to be initially.

"Sure!" After nodding her head excitedly she questioned again,

"Then can I leave now?"

Her voice this time was way softer than before. She decided to not hold his previous behaviour against him. She has been searching for that herb for years now. She was on the verge of giving up and thinking of trying to come up with a new formula that won't require that herb.

"You trust me?" He was surprised by her quick agreement. She is by no means someone naive. He thought she would ask him to hand out the herb first and then start asking him questions such as, how he got to know about what herb she has been searching for, what camp, how long it would take to return e.t.c. Now that she got convinced so easily he felt both satisfied and unhappy. She must have found him trustworthy enough to not ask him any questions. But on the other hand he no longer has any excuses to continue talking to her.
