Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: Erla's Scheme

[ The stone, or I should say the energies held in the stone, cannot be used for many things. There are only a few things that the stone can do.

There's only one thing that can make her give the stone to you guys.

That is Forceful Awakening. This stone, if held by a person with ether for a long time, starts to make that person's ether resonate and stimulate with the other energy stored in it.]

As the system's words continued, Keiran's and Luna's expressions turned colder and colder, puzzling Erla even more.

She kept wondering if they liked it or not.

The scenario of them finding out her plan wasn't even in her mind. The stone itself was known only to a select few people.

They discovered its use by accident.

A person used this stone as a lucky charm and placed it in their house. His child was subjected to the exposure of energy daily and awakened his powers, but soon he was consumed by the power itself, and his body exploded.

After finding out this, many experiments were conducted using these stones which confirmed that it can be used to forcefully awaken a person's powers.

The chances of survival were low. She was only taking this chance because of the condition Arion set for their 10th birthday.

'Well, this is the first time anyone has used this on a child of two awakeners, and a high-level one at that. Maybe they will get through this and surprise me. If not, I'll have to think of something.'

Thinking of her future actions caused her to miss the chilling light that passed through the twins' eyes as they were listening to the explanation about the stone.

[This stone, although forcefully awakens a person, the chances of that person going out of control and losing their mind to the corruption of the other energy is very high.

They will lose their control over energy and explode; if by chance they survive, they will have lesser efficiency in controlling that power.]

This explanation shocked the twins, and they also understood that Erla didn't know the full extent of the stone's power.

They had also heard her plans that she used to mumble when she was alone. They heard many things when they were in the womb, yet they couldn't make anything out of them.

Now that they have the proper knowledge, they can easily understand what the things she talked about were.

As the twins looked at their mother with expressionless faces, they once again heard the voice of the system.

[ You don't have to worry about anything like that happening to you.

Host, I can purify the energies within the stones without anyone realizing, but this will be a one-time thing and in the future, it will cost you.

No one will be able to tell that anything happened to the stone, unless they check the stone thoroughly.]

Hearing those words, Keiran's eyes narrowed. Although he had found a way to deal with the stone without arousing suspicion, he would have destroyed it even if that meant exposing their knowledge.

His mind was now in the middle of processing the cost mentioned by the system. He had understood the principle that everything comes with a price by now.

[ Host doesn't have to worry about that for now. You will understand everything once you activate the system fully.]

Keiran took a deep breath as he cleared his mind. After thinking for a moment, he understood that there was no point in dwelling on something they had no control or knowledge of.

His eyes landed on the stones in the matching necklace. The stone held a small, dark red aura with a transparent, warm aura that seemed to be battling against each other.

'Do it, remove the energy,' Keiran decided in his mind.

As those words left his mouth, the two pendants shone a little, which wasn't enough to be noticed by the naked eye.

Within a second, every ounce of aura that the locket held was removed without giving it any chance to struggle.

The stone now looked the same as before, like an ordinary decorative stone but now it was ordinary in every sense.

Under the eyes of Erla, who had just come out of her own imagination, Keiran arrived behind Luna and moved her hair, which reached her middle back, to the side as he put the pendant on her neck.

Luna also helped Keiran wear his pendant. Looking at the jewelry from a closer distance, Keiran saw something that attracted his attention. Although the pendants were made of gold, they held very distinguished yet barely noticeable black and white lines separately on both of them.

Keiran took the black one while Luna held the other.

"They look good on both of you." Erla spoke in a warm and happy tone. The happiness in her tone was very evident to the twins as they just ignored her words.

"Let's go now; we will be late otherwise," Luna said, attracting Erla's attention. "Aren't you going to apply makeup?"

She asked in a curious tone. She knew that the maids would have asked her, as they knew the importance of today's event.

"No need. I will go just like this." Her words were cold, and there was no room for negotiation in her tone.

Sighing, Erla rubbed her temples, but when she took another look at the girl, she saw that the girl had already turned out to be as beautiful as her brother was handsome, and she didn't need to apply makeup to highlight her beauty.

'If she grows more beautiful like this, there won't be any shortage of suitors for them, but the only problem will be...' As she was thinking, her gaze shifted to their interlocked hands, and the intensity of that grip gave the illusion that nothing in this world could separate them.

Shaking her head to remove her thoughts, Erla gave the twins one last look-over as she looked for anything they needed to alter in their clothes or apparel.

Satisfied with their proper dressing and attention to details, she spoke as she turned her back towards them.

"Let's go then, it's time for our appearance as well."

Both the siblings' gaze was drawn to her twirling green gown, which held many layers of similar material but different colors, each one complementing the other and forming a gorgeous gown together.

Giving a single look to her clothing, they averted their gaze and walked beside her towards the very hall where they had made their previous appearance. However, this was an official first appearance according to the people due to them gaining awareness of the world.

As they walked in the direction of the great hall, they came across a familiar pair of mother and son. Their steps slowed down as they approached them.

Seraphina was wearing a gorgeous red gown with golden detailing all over her chest area, emphasizing her curves. The lower part of the dress held very fine detailing, giving the dress a royal look.

Aiden, by her side, had already grown to a height of four feet one inch and was wearing a vine-red three-piece suit. It complemented his long red hair, which he had allowed to grow and flow down to his shoulders.

He had also put on a pair of shoes with brown and red shades that complemented the suit very well.

Upon seeing his brother, he hurried towards him, ignoring the look Erla was giving him. Seraphina also chuckled at her son's actions and turned to look at the twins.

"You both look lovely, Keiran and Luna." Hearing her compliment, their expressions warmed slightly as they replied, "Thank you for your compliment, Seraphina."

Seraphina smiled at their reply. Even though they had used her name, which even with their position should not be allowed, she and the twins were close enough for them to enjoy this privilege.

"Brother, you look handsome." Aiden's eyes were practically sparkling as he looked at Keiran. Erla's eyes narrowed at their overly close behavior.

"You shouldn't call out her name like that, and you, Seraphina, should reprimand them as well," Erla spoke in a lecturing tone that the twins didn't even listen to as Luna came closer to Keiran.

"It's fine, Erla. They just speak like that with me because i allowed them to. They won't get into the habit of it." Unknown to her, this was the source of her whole worry. She didn't want her children to be overly close with others when they didn't even properly talk to her.

"It's not just him who is present here. I am here too."

Hearing the familiar cold voice whose owner he unconsciously ignored made Aiden's body tremble.

"You t-too look beautiful, sister Luna." His head was sweating when he felt a pair of sharp eyes land on him. He knew very well that the owner of those eyes was his beloved brother.

He had received many punishments from his brother in the past whenever he tried to get close to Luna or insulted her.

Even though he liked his brother, he cried at his unfair attitude.

"B-brother, is there something wrong?" He asked in a meek voice, causing the glare to vanish as Keiran turned towards Seraphina and spoke once again, "Shall we go together to the hall?"

Seraphina looked at him and nodded, "Yeah, let's go. If we waste more time here, we will be late." The whole group started to move towards the same direction, and they reached their destination in a short time.

The gates opened up on their arrival as they saw the dazzling scene in front of them.
