Ren and the others all gathered in a room after leaving Alyndra in order to discuss a strategy to handle the politics of the world.
"So how do we handle things with the Queen?" Serenity asked.
"It seems like there are some powerful people that want to dethrone her; the question is: who has the power to do that?" Lily asked.
"Well, first I think of Alyndra and Caestrianna." Eleonora said. "They are next in line and have the most to gain."
"True. Okay, Scarlet and Laelli should look at Caestrianna and Alyndra for any signs of them being suspicious." Lucilia said. "Meanwhile, who's the other top suspect?"
"The head guard." Ren said. "He is always around them, and the royal family trusts him completely. It wouldn't be hard for him to backstab them without them knowing it."
"You have a point..." Ashastha said. "Who else?"
"We need more information about the top people in the government on this planet; without that, our suspect pool is too wide." Lily said.
"Then I have an idea." Ren said. "Best way to get information is from the common people."
"You're right." Lucilia said. "Okay, Serenity, Eleonora, and you should look around the city and find out anything that could help us shed a light on what's going on here, and that should help."
"I'm on it." Ren said. "I'll head out now."
"Alright, be safe. I love you, Ren." Lucilia said it with a smile.
"I love you too, Lucilia." Ren said.
"What about me?" Scarlet asked.
"And me." Ashastha said.
"And me..." Lily chimed in.
"Me too." Serenity said with a smile.
"And...me...." Eleonora said shyly.
"Of course I love you all. That's not even a question." Ren said it with a smile.
Ren soon left the room and headed towards the city with Serenity and Eleonora. They found a city that was very... normal. Ren expected more, but everyone was doing well with everyday things like shopping and walking around. However, he knew that some of the others had an eye on them.
"This will make it difficult to walk around," Serenity said.
"Yeah, we're being watched by a lot of eyes at the moment..." Ren said in agreement.
"Well, we'll just have to be more stealthy when walking around." Eleonora said while nodding. "Now, where's the best place to get information?'
"Well, there's the town square, which will have the most people, and then there's taverns and bars; drunk people just love saying things they shouldn't." Ren said.
"Alright..." Eleonora said. "Serenity and myself will head to the town square. You should head to the bar."
"Why me?" Ren asked.
"Well, you have a knack for getting information out of people." Eleonora said.
"Alright, just be safe." Ren said. "If you need me, hit the distress button that Lucilia handed you. I'll rush right over."
"We won't worry." Eleonora said.
"Bye Ren! Stay safe!" Serenity was said as well before the two left.
"Now...where too...ah, I see." Ren said as he spotted a sign.
"Green Dragon Tavern"
"There's nothing like listening to drunks in the afternoon..." Ren said, sighing.
Ren put up a hood over his head and walked inside the tavern.
He saw a number of people already drinking their problems away, and everyone seemed to be in a good mood. Ren sat down at the bar, and the bartender walked over. She was a beautiful girl, with white hair and blue eyes.
"What can I get you, darling?" The bartender asked.
"Just a water for now, thank you." Ren said.
"No problem." the bartender said as she poured him a cup of cold water. "Anything on the menu you'd like?"
"What's good?" Ren asked.
"Well the Wyvern steak is a local favorite." she said.
"I'll take that then." Ren replied.
The bartender wrote his order down and walked to the kitchen. Ren took his time to listen to the conversations around the room. First was a pair of two men who were in their older forties and wearing armor.
"That bitch queen...she constantly makes us work and doesn't give us any vacation time..."
"It's because of the threat from the Mountain People...it's seriously a pain in my ass."
"Then we should get wartime benefits or something! Instead, all she does is overwork us."
Ren stayed silent "Seems like the soldiers aren't too happy..."
Then Ren focused on a conversation between a man and what seemed to be his wife.
"Honey, are you okay?" the woman asked.
"I just heard some things at work today." the man replied.
"What kind of things?"
"Some of the guys...they were talking about protesting soon."
"Protesting? Against the Queen?"
"Yeah, there's even been talk about some...more radical ideas."
"Honey, don't you dare do anything that could harm either yourself or our family."
"I won't, but it does concern me."
"More radical ideas? I don't like the sound of that..." Ren thought to himself.
"Here's your Wyvern!" the bartender said, coming back to Ren.
"Thank you." Ren said. "Well, time to try to flying lizard..."
Ren took a bite of the food and was surprised. "This just tastes like peppered chicken... It's good."
