Chapter 72 - Leaving

In the quiet of the night, Naruto soared to a great altitude, leaving behind the bounds of Konoha.

Seizing the opportune chaos of the Uchiha Annihilation, he made his departure. The village would undoubtedly react, mobilizing forces to collect the fallen Uchiha. However, the bodies extended beyond the Uchiha clan; it included Danzo, the root members, and the Anbu operatives.

Reflecting on the battle, Naruto acknowledged his performance but recognized his abundant shortcomings. The meticulously planned encounter with Obito showcased his strategic strength, but subsequent battles revealed his unhinged behaviour. Even the deployment of Susanoo's power occurred later than intended.

Contemplating his own flaws, Naruto admitted, "However, I still have a lot of shortcomings. It seems that I have shown all the methods I know, but it also proves my lack of experience. Otherwise, I won't mess around with my hands."

Acknowledging his shortcomings, Naruto pondered the disparity between his abilities and his combat experience. Comparing himself to his father, the legendary Yellow Flash of Konoha, he noted the stark difference in their approach to combat.

His father's mastery of kunai and the art of instant throat cuts showcased a level of precision that Naruto had yet to achieve. Naruto's was fighting like an unhinged beast rather than a ninja.

He recognized the importance of foundational training, akin to tree climbing and water walking exercises, and acknowledged that these seemingly basic exercises played a crucial role in combat. Also the importance of controlling his emotions.

Looking ahead, he felt a sense of anticipation for the growth he was bound to experience in the future. With Konoha now in the distance, Naruto relished the freedom to live life on his own terms.

Naruto, having just concluded the intense battle, looked around the vast expanse of the world. With a bright smile on his face, he called out to Kurama.

"Got scared."

Kurama observed Naruto filled with excitement despite the late hour.

"Naruto, I hope you don't fall into the clutches of evil," Kurama spoke in a deep tone.

Expressing concern, he revealed a desire for Naruto to avoid the pitfalls that befell many others due to reasons such as strength, hatred, and ambition.

Kurama acknowledged Naruto's potential for change and coexistence with the tailed beasts, expressing a hope for a different path.

Naruto, taken aback by Kurama's words, paused in the air. Was Kurama genuinely worried about him?

"This is no longer just about 'a certain work.' For me, this is the real world I live in," Naruto stated, acknowledging the complexities of his existence.

In response, Kurama fell silent, prompting Naruto to confront the harsh realities. He questioned how many people, given his knowledge of past and future events, truly remained untainted.

Naruto couldn't feign ignorance, especially after learning about the Pain invasion. The villagers' reactions and potential disdain for him were inevitable.

"Kurama, relax I won't turn into a full fledged madman. Maybe just a tiny tiny bit." Naruto chuckled.

"But you can't blame me. Who wouldn't want to growing up under their parents' care, smoothly graduating from ninja school, becoming a skilled ninja, finding a beautiful and loving wife in the village, having two children—a son and a daughter. Hokage or not, it doesn't matter. Find a good job, meet friends every now and then. Lead a wonderful life"

Uzumaki Naruto paused.

"Who wouldn't want that? But can I? Don't worry; I won't go mad and destroy the Ninja World. After all, I'm not an Uchiha."

With a bitter smile, Naruto shook his head.

Naruto said no more, and Kurama fell silent too. They resumed flying forward, swiftly leaving the Land of Fire under the cloak of the dark night.

The territory of the Fire Land belonged to Konoha Village. He knew that defecting openly staying in the Fire Land was out of the question. Even if he could fight off pursuit, it would be troublesome with a constant stream of chasing forces.

"How about heading to the Land of Water, or the Land of Thunder? Or perhaps another country? Ah, there's the Land of Waves?"

"I recall the Land of Waves is under the control of a guy named Gato, and he's quite wealthy, right?"

"Well, anyway, I've become a traitor. Why not use the ninja's professional skills to the fullest? Maybe even ask him for a loan? One that doesn't need to be repaid?"

"Let's go."

Meanwhile, in Konoha Village, chaos ensued.
