Chapter 39 - The Visit

After his brief encounter with Kakashi, Naruto realized he had been called back from his training session. This prompted him to question why Kakashi hadn't come to his house in the morning to notify him, instead of waiting for him to make the trip back. He complained, assuming that Kakashi's tardiness was the reason for this inconvenience.

He mused that Kakashi might have inherited Obito's habit of being frequently late since Obito's death. Naruto believed that the reason behind Kakashi's lateness was the time he spent at the Memorial Monument in Konoha Village, where the names of fallen ninjas were inscribed.

Returning home, Naruto disbanded the Shadow Clones and found that none of them had successfully shattered the balls. He was aware that the time was too short for them to complete the task in a single outing. Frustrated but determined, he created ten new Shadow Clones and set them to practice.

Back at his home, Naruto continued his physical training regimen, which consisted of push-ups, sit-ups, squats, and leapfrogs. He didn't require any fitness equipment, making it easy to maintain his exercise routine.

Outside his home, the village was abuzz with preparations to welcome the Cloud Shinobi Village's mission. The sunny weather and cleared snow made the festivities more vibrant. The arrival of the Cloud Shinobi Village mission symbolized the end of the Third Ninja War and the return of peace, much to the joy of the villagers.

While Naruto chose not to participate in the festivities, he used his sensory abilities to keep an eye on the event. He especially paid attention to the Chakra signature of the Cloud Shinobi Village's leader. Additionally, he asked Kurama to help him remember the leader's scent.

Kurama proposed a unique idea. While he couldn't detect smells, he had an innate ability to sense changes in people's emotions, particularly when they displayed hostility. By combining this ability with Naruto's perception, they could potentially detect when someone harbored malice towards them.

This fusion of their abilities might not enhance the perception itself, but it could provide unexpected advantages. When Naruto's perception couldn't pinpoint an individual's identity, he could gauge their intent by sensing hostility. This allowed him to prepare accordingly. If the person turned out to be an enemy, it was a straightforward matter to eliminate the threat covertly. If not, Naruto could use the element of surprise to his advantage, making it quite a handy combination.

While these thoughts occupied Naruto's mind, the grand demonstrations outside continued. This diplomatic matter between two major ninja villages and countries had significant implications for the impending Ninja War, making it a matter of great attention and celebration.

The delegation eventually arrived at the Hokage building, where the audience surrounded them.

Atop the building, the Third Hokage and his two advisers, Koharu and Homura, were prepared for the event.

Danzo, who had originally been a Hokage consultant, had been disqualified from that position due to his involvement in the assassination attempt on the Third Hokage three years ago.

The heads of several prominent Konoha families, as well as some Jōnin, were also in attendance. In the hierarchy of ninja villages, Jonin represented the upper echelons, functioning as both top combatants and political leaders.

Despite Cloud Shinobi Village's aggressive image, the war had taken a toll on them. Their Third Raikage had perished in battle, but he had single-handedly held back an enemy force of 10,000 alongside Iwagakure.

His sacrifice had saved a significant portion of Cloud Shinobi Village's strength and extended the duration of the conflict. Sometimes, events had two sides, with complexities that couldn't be easily summarized.
