With everything that had been going on, Mika and I (Autumn) were finally excited to get things settled and make our place feel more like home.
Mika and I had moved into my mom's apartment with her while she was still there, because of some personal issues where we were previously staying. And then, my mom found somewhere to move too. Into her very first house; I was so proud of her, and, beyond excited for what was to come for us. Her lease wasn't up until February though and she moved out in the beginning of October, so we went ahead and took over the lease to save her the consequences of having to break her lease and to give us our own place. We couldn't continue to live with other people it just wasn't working out.
Our first two months on our own, we were never home. We were working our lives away to our minimum wage jobs and we were just barely scraping by. But, for being 18 and 17 - we were so proud of one another and how no matter what happened we continued to make the effort to give ourselves a better future.
Finally, two months later….
Mika and I had plans to go out with his aunts and uncle to IKEA for his birthday. Their plan was to buy us the things we were still in need of and wanted so we could go home and get settled and stuff. Basically, the idea behind it (which was SUPER nice of them) was to make our apartment a home for us.
So, Mika and I celebrated his birthday a few days earlier that week since the day before we were going out with them. And we had planned to split his birthday with his mom and my mom so that everyone got to celebrate with him. We exchanged the gifts and card that I had gotten him, and we went to Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner the Wednesday before his birthday.
