Chapter 36 - Positive and Negative

The envoy was dealt a serious blow, and their morale floored. Despair threatened to consume the envoy members, but Laksmana Bujang refused to surrender. He knew that they could not afford to give up now, not after coming so far and enduring so much. With unwavering resolve, Laksmana Bujang rallied his comrades, urging them to find the strength within themselves to fight back.

「 Laksmana Bujang 」

"We are the warriors of the Qeddah Sultanate!"

"No mere swamp dwellers will get the best of us!"

"Pick yourselves up and show them that we are not to be toyed around!"

Inspired by Laksmana Bujang's words, the envoy members shook off their despair and found a renewed sense of determination. They rose to their feet, their eyes blazing with defiance. They knew that they had to give it their all, for their lives and the success of their mission.

「 Lieutenant Ohma 」

"What's the plan, Laksmana?"

"A head-on clash is suicidal."

"We need a better plan."

"Those shamans..."

"My guess is, even though it's just a basic defense spell, a high-level Lightning Armor is as dangerous as a Lightning Storm spell."

「 Laksmana Bujang 」

"The shamans are channeling their lightning energy to the chief."

"If we take him down, I think we would have a glimpse of a chance to survive this."

「Ranger Kellar 」

"I don't think we can even reach him, Laksmana."

"The barrier is getting stronger."

"Even my arrows could not penetrate them now."

"The density of magical energy around the chief is insane."

Laksmana Bujang analyzed the situation, his mind trying to find a solution. He knew that a direct assault on Chief Gralis would be futile with the barrier protecting him. They needed to find a way to weaken or bypass the barrier and reach the craglisk chief.

「 Laksmana Bujang 」

"We can't break through the barrier head-on, but perhaps we can find a weakness."

"Archers, keep firing to keep the chief distracted!"

"I'll try to find a vulnerable spot on the barrier."

Laksmana Bujang focused his attention on the barrier surrounding Chief Gralis while the archers kept the craglisk chief's attention occupied. He carefully observed the energy patterns and searched for any irregularities.

After a moment of intense concentration, Laksmana Bujang noticed a faint fluctuation in the barrier's energy at a specific point. It seemed to be weaker there, indicating a potential weak spot.

「 Laksmana Bujang 」

"I've found a weak spot in the barrier."

"It's not much, but it might be our only chance."

"We have to try and punch a hole there somehow."

Laksmana Bujang revealed his observation to the rest of the envoy before focusing his gaze on Ranger Kellar.

"Kellar, take the opportunity to take down the chief with your most powerful attack once the barrier is breached."

The envoy members quickly brainstormed ideas, trying to come up with a plan to divert the chief's attention. They needed something significant enough to grab his focus and make him momentarily lower his guard.

「 Spearman Shakir 」

"What if we create a fake target, someone who appears to be a high-value threat?"

"We can make it look like they are about to unleash a powerful attack on the chief."

「 Spearman Tahkeem 」

"That's a good idea, let's pool up our mana and use it to cast the simplest summoning spell."

"Maybe, like the storm shamans' armor, it will become stronger."

「 Laksmana Bujang 」

"Maybe it's worth a try."

"We need a target dummy, and only have one shot at this."

The envoy members quickly put their plan into motion. Laksmana Bujang positioned himself in a strategic location, making sure the chief could not see him. He adopted a combat stance, his blades gleaming in the dim light.

Meanwhile, the rest of the envoys who still had some magical energy started pooling their mana as they getting ready to cast a Summon Familiar spell. The basic spell of which normally used to summon eidolons to reside within Gears.

With their mana combined, the envoys channeled their energy into the Summon Familiar spell, accidentally pouring their collective strength into summoning a single eidolon. As the spell took shape, a figure wrapped in its own wings materialized.

The amount of excess mana skyrocketed as they were collected and desperate at the same time. At that very moment, the envoy managed to achieve the perfect balance of their black-and-white emotions, the gray spot, hence unleashing a tidal surge of spirit magic.

「 Raf il-Cul 」

"Well well well..."

"What do we have here?"

"Mere humans?"

"Managed to summon me..."

"The Lord of Anguish?"

"Hahaha..."

The envoys looked in awe and trepidation at the powerful being they had summoned. Raf il-Cul, the Lord of Anguish, radiated a palpable aura of darkness and power. His eyes glowed with an otherworldly intensity as he surveyed the battlefield.
