Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 The Macquoids

The large and magnificent carriage rode up to the top of a hill far from the village where the fair was taking place. The carriage stopped in front of a huge gate with the family's name perched up on the left top corner of the wall supporting the gate.

'Macquoid's Mansion'

The guard quickly got down and opened the door of the carriage. Daemon got down from the carriage and just then, the butler of the mansion walked up to him and bowed. "Welcome home, master Daemon."

Daemon gave him a nod of acknowledgement and the butler helped him take off his coat.

Immediately Daemon got into the mansion, he was welcomed with a loud scream.

"Daemon"!!!! Screamed his little sister who was only four years old. She ran up to him and embraced him tightly as if it had been a thousand years since they saw each other. Daemon smiled and rubbed her head.

"How have you been Marcie?" Daemon asked her lovingly. "I'm fine but I was bored without you. How was the fair? Was it fun? Did you make friends?" Marcie rumbled on and on excitedly whilst pulling on the sleeves of Daemon's dress.

"Mhm...."Daemon hummed as he remembered the fair. But what he remembered too was the little girl he bumped into.

"How many times have I told you not to scream like that?" Both the children turned to see where the voice came from only to see it was their mother. Marcie ran up to her and exclaimed, "brother Daemon said the fair was so much fun. Can I go next time? Please?" She pleaded with her large doe like eyes, trying to convince her mother.

"It's dangerous out there Marcie" Margery, their mother tried to talk her out of it. "And besides, didn't I put you to bed a while ago?" She looked at Marcie with a stern face who in turn laughed and looked at her sheepishly.

"Run along now. I'll be there with you shortly." Margery said to Marcie who nodded and bid her brother a good night. She then started running when her mother scolded her.

When Marcie was out of sight, Margery then turned to Daemon and asked him how his first experience was at the village fair.

"It was okay" replied Daemon with an expressionless face. Margery sighed and bent down to look him in the eye. "Did you meet someone there? Margery asked and his eyes widened. 'How did she know I met someone there?' He asked himself when he noticed the smile on his mother's face.

"Don't be surprised. That's the face you make when you get annoyed by someone. Now tell me, who is it you met there?

"I didn't meet anyone there." He lied.

His mother only smiled at him and nodded.

"It's best if you get some rest now. Your uncle and aunt will be visiting tomorrow with your cousins." He heard his mother say and then he finally smiled. He was happy to hear that his cousins were coming over.

........

When morning came, the Macquoid mansion was busy as always with maids going up and down. Daemon was up early. After getting ready for breakfast, he suddenly remembered it was the last day of the village fair. He wasn't really interested in the fair but was interested in the girl who bumped into him. On the outside, she seemed ordinary but he could feel that she wasn't really ordinary. He wanted to see her again.

When he got to the dining room, his father, Jaime was sitting at the head of the table reading a newsletter. He greeted everyone present at the table and then took his seat.

Mr Jaime said, " Your uncle Peter and Aunt Alison are on their way here. They'll be staying over till the work they came over for is complete."

"Will Grace come too?" Asked Marcie, who was trying to reach over a cup of blood but her hands were too little to reach it.

"Of course she will." Said Mrs Macquoid, who in turn picked up the cup of blood for Marcie

The Macquoids were one of the few good pure blooded vampires in Aston. It wasn't that they were tolerant of humans misbehaving but compared to other pure blooded vampire homes, they were nice.
