Alrik's fingers teased the straps of my thong, and he grabbed a handful of my hair, jerking my head back until my eyes met his.
"Do you really think you're going to be rewarded after all that?" he asked, his lips twitching into a cruel sneer as he studied the wistful look on my face for a moment.
I rolled my eyes, and he responded with a swift smack on my behind, saying, "Face the wall."
I opened my mouth to say something sharp to him, but he stopped me by pressing his finger against them and said, "The longer you take to do as I say, the more likely it is you'll be wobbling around bow-legged for weeks."
The words stuck in my lips as his broad, mischievous smile widened. "Face the wall, Jaslynn."
I huffed and retreated into the vacant area besides the table, pivoted, and only turned my head to observe Alrik searching through the shelf.
