Following a string of affirmative answers, Dario arched an inquisitive eyebrow, asking, "Is it fair to presume that everyone is on deck at this point? I am fully aware that Mr. Daxton only recently became involved, and the only persons who have been involved from the start are Ms. Jaslynn and Alpha Alrik."
Though I tried not to listen, Wilbur seemed to be muttering something unpleasant under his breath that instantly drew the attention of Dario and Alrik.
"Mr. Wilbur, do you have something to say?" With a tone of caution, Dario enquired.
"Nothing, Minister Dario," the sneering grifn said. He glared at me, saying, "I was just acknowledging how all of this could have been avoided."
I didn't say anything, but beneath the table, my hand was securely holding Alrik's, trying to soothe him as his anger began to flare.
"How do you think that, Mr. Wilbur?" Dario asked, narrowing his eyes and giving me a quick glance before turning back to Wilbur.
