The furious roars of the wolf snapped her back to reality. By now, one was right in front of her. It was far too fast for her to block or dodge. She made a blowing motion and blew a ball of fire from her mouth.
It hit the straight to the creature. Another one tried to rush up to her, but it was crushed in powerful jaws of the great grey wolf who by now has arrived.
Unlike the Sif from her memories, this one held no sword. And most of all, she did feel a broken heart from it. Sif was the legendary companion of the great knight Artorias and survived against the horrors of the Abyss itself.
She knew that the Great grey wolf wasn't so easy to kill. The reason he was easily killed by the Chosen Undead was because he was awkwardly using a sword and had already held the heart to follow his master to death.
The behavior of the Great grey wolf told her a lot of things. It was in the prime of its life at this moment. The mere fact that it is still in the Abyss meant that the Great knight Artorias was still here, probably alive and fighting against the Abyss.
She felt excited at this prospect. When she was young, older firekeepers had told her stories of the great knight Artorias, the hero of Oolacile, one of Gwyn's knights who saved the princess Dusk. Of course, she now knew them to be false tales and that to be the work of another champion.
However, that did not dampen her enthusiasm one bit. Every little girl once held the dream of being a princess saved by a knight. Artorias was the knight who saved that little girl who had her eyes taken out. It was his tales that kept her going when she wanted to end it all.
Even now, when she felt hopeless, she thought about the great knight Artorias. How hopeless he must have felt when he went into the Abyss alone with his great grey wolf. Yet, he still held enough strength to send his wolf out.
A great knight who accomplished nothing yet tried everything. And most of all, even when all of his humanity was consumed by the Abyss and nothing was left of his former self, he still tried to benefit humanity in his way.
A demigod fighting not for the sake of gods but for the sake of humans, he was the greatest being in her heart. A hero in her heart until the Ashen One came along. It was his tales who gave her hope when she was nothing but a young girl.
Now, they have dealt with two of the creatures. The other two spilt up and went for the wolf. They seemed to think that the wolf was an easier opponent than her. She knew that they planned to kill the wolf first before teaming up to take on her once again.
It won't happen. They overestimate themselves. The wolf was no easy prey. Using his large paws, Sif slapped down on one, but they dodged it. They jumped to his face intending to destroy it. It only went to his jaws right away.
Another one down. The last one was easy prey. She stepped on the ground and came straight at it. using her scythe, she sliced it in half. It was way too easy. But the flames she used had attract attention.
She looked around to see that monster of the Abyss has slowly started creeping to her. But now that she has attract attention, she might as well destroy them all in a fanfare. She raised her palms as fireballs form in the sky. She then pointed downwards, and they all fell.
She then looked at the great grey wolf. She did not like the gods but just for creating this magnificent creature, she wanted to thank them. He was magnificent with intelligent eyes. His grey fur gleamed in this pit of pure darkness.
Morris started whimpering from atop of the head of the wolf. How he got up there, she doubt she will ever know. But she understood what he was trying to say. He want her to get on top his head too. She stretched out her hands as she watched the wolf approached closer.
"I will sit upon thy head. Will that be okay, dear wolf?"
It lowered its head seemingly in a hurry. That is right. Artorias finally fell when his companion was no longer with him. So, she did not waste time by saying anything and went on top of his head right away.
The wolf turned back the direction he came from and started running in full speed. Of course, the monsters of the Abyss would not just watch a grey wolf run around. They try to surround them. But, she burned them all, making a smooth path for the wolf.
The great grey wolf continued running and did not stop for anything. Slowly as they approached, she started hearing sounds of battle.
She always remembers the sound of a sword separating flesh from a decaying body.
She always remembers the sound of a shield blocking something that would kill you in an instant.
She definitely remembers the sound made by armor when one rolls around.
She remembered the screams of monster when you kill them.
This has always been her dream since she was young. Soon, she will meet the great knight Artorias for the first time. She knew not to idolize anyone, but she still hoped that he was not a die-hard loyalist of Gwyn.
She would rather believe that the great knight was kind out of his own heart and not because he represented the Lord of Light. Most of her answers concerning her idol will soon be answered. At this moment, she did not feel like the first flame.
She felt like a little girl once again. All she could say was that its pretty good.
