Chapter 3 - Day 1.3

"Let's get out of here first!"

"Where are we going?" Le Fey regained her composure. Her face was still pale. The sudden event left them shocked.

"Mark? Your house is the most secure one and it's also closer to this place, right? Can we go over there?" Syko turns his head to Mark.

"Yeah, We could go over there. I have plenty of bodyguards in there to help us." Mark nods his head.

"John, and Nat, call the others or drop them a message that we will meet in Mark's house. I hope they are alright." Syko with his sharpened as he watched the events happening outside, helpless. Fortunately, the monster did not see them as the glass in the store was tinted. "We also can't go out in the front. Let's go back door."

John and Natasha nodded as they took out their phone, calling their other friends.

Syko and Co. Got out using the back door, some customers also accompanied them. But the group ignored these people. Right now, they can't afford to worry about others.

Mark picks a spear, John a gauntlet, Anne a bow with 20 arrows in her quiver, Natasha a short sword, and Le Fey a staff.

As they got out the back door, they were greeted by a green small creature with a bulbous pointed nose. Yellow slitted eyes. A hideous-looking green goblin appeared before them.

[Goblin lvl1]

Syko was amazed by the fantasmal creature, As a veteran player, he rushed towards the creature and swung his sword without hesitation. Making the goblin surprised by the sudden action from Syko.

Syko already observed the surroundings and saw nothing but the goblin. The goblin with the dagger hastily tries to parry the sword but it is too late.

The sword hit the wrist of the goblin. Unfortunately, it did not severe the goblin's wrist but only cut a deep wound showing the bone. Even if it wasn't cut clean, the goblin received a great deal of damage. Its dagger was thrown away as the goblin screamed in pain.

It looked at Syko with hatred.

"GREeeaK!!" Its hysterical cries were annoying.

"Fuck! I thought it would cut!" Syko gritted his teeth. "Shit! I'll end this quickly before troubles appear."

With another swing, this time, Syko aimed at the goblin's head. After receiving a hit on the head, The goblin finally became silent.

[Exp: 10%/100%]

"Wow, how did you do that without hesitation?" Le Fey and the others looked at him with awe.

"I receive a hidden skill called Gamer mind." Syko truthfully said. "I'll talk about it later after we reach Mark's house."

"WHAT!" Le Fey's eyes widened from shock. "That's unfair! No wonder you did not flinch earlier."

"What's a Gamer Mind, Fey?" Natasha asked her.

"Come on guys! Hurry up, we have no time." Mark said as he saw at the other end of the alley. Three zombie dogs appeared.

The zombie dogs growled as they sprinted towards the group.

"Ready yourselves, don't let it bite you. Girls, stay behind our back and cover us." John ordered as he stepped forward. John is a boxer, that's why he chose a gauntlet.

The zombie dog leaped towards him. John squinted his eyes readying his stance. As the dog was about to reach him, he sent a powerful jab to the dog on the head, sending it flying.

"Hmph!" John harrumphed.

Mark chose spear as he trains spear as a hobby. As a rich handsome guy, he was not lazy. He keeps his body lean and firm. He also does judo and other stuff to protect himself.

Usually, he would be accompanied by group bodyguards but today was a special day where he did not like to be a bother to his friends.

With a strike of his spear. It accurately penetrated the eye of the zombie dog, ending its life. Zombies' weakness is their brains like in movies.

Syko slashed towards the leaping dog. It only cut the dog and bounced back. As the zombie dog landed hard on the ground an arrow came after it. Piercing its neck.

"Nice!" Syko gives Anne a thumbs up.

[EXP:20%/100%]

"How much Exp did you receive?" Syko asked Anne.

"10%" Anne replied briefly, her eyes focusing on the last zombie dog. Placing another arrow on the bow.

"That's weird, I thought the EXP would be halved as it's shared kill. Is the leveling broken or something? Wouldn't it become a loophole?" Syko said loudly.

Ding! [EXP receives from monsters slain is 10% of its full EXP.]

"Ah! I get it..." Syko finally understood.

If you slay a monster, you will get the 10% of the monster's exp. The remaining 90% will disappear but if there is another player, they will both have 10%. Then the remaining 80% percent will disappear. So that means, 10 people will get 10% percent each from 1 monster. If more than 10 people are killing 1 monster, that's where the equal distribution starts.

"Wow! This leveling system is great! I'm always puzzled why a player in the game only receives minuscule exp from a monster slain when the monster is higher level than them." Syko wondered.

"Everyone hit the last zombie dog," Syko shouted. The other people who came with them already ran away. Their group are only remaining... No there is another girl, a waitress whose face was pale.

Syko also shouted at her, "Hey you! Hit that dog too. We can't waste EXP."

As his mind became a gamer, he only thought of farming EXP plus his OCD making it worse.

"W-W-What!? Hit that! M-M-Monster!" Tears running down from her eyes.

Mark, John, Le Fey, Natasha, and Anne did not doubt Syko. They hit the last dog one by one.

The waitress girl was afraid but she was more afraid of the guy whose eyes looked serious and scary glaring at her. She hit the dog with the staff like Le Fey. Syko was the last one who struck the dog and killed it.

[EXP:30%/100%]

Syko nodded in approval. "Let's go."

"Wait! C-C-Can I come with you?" The waitress shouted. Her hands clutch on the hem of her skirt.

Syko turned his bead to Mark who shrugged his shoulders. "Come!"

...

On the way to Mark's mansion. The group did not have an easy journey. Thankfully, they only encountered small groups of zombies, goblins, and kobolds. Also, some lone monster whose level is higher than theirs by a small margin.

"Hap!" Syko shouted as he swung his long sword hard. He doesn't know how to use a sword even with a gamer's mind. It may look easy to handle a sword but Syko proved otherwise. Sometimes the sword will stuck in the flesh, making it harder to pull.

It will be a hindrance when fighting. The slight mistake is fatal. So the only way Syko came up with is to swing it as hard as he can.

Halfway through their goal. Syko killed his 10th level 1 monster and leveled him up to 2.

Ding! [Level up!]

Ding! [+10 attribute points, please allocate.]

Syko allocated his points. +3 STR, +3 AGI, +3 INT and +1 INT.

Mark, John, and Anne level up to 2.

Le Fey, Natasha, and Tina the waitress earlier remain level 1.

As they got nearer to their goal. They encountered a powerful lone monster. It was a level 4 werewolf.

"Fuck! A high level!." Syko cursed under his breath.

"What do we do?" Le Fey beside him said worriedly. Anxiety creeps over her. Even tho. The difference in level is just small, they know it will not be an easy opponent.

The enemies they fought were on the same level as them, yet they already had a hard time coping. Not to mention a high-level one.

"Syko and I will distract it, Nat and Mark should find an opening and strike it. Fey and Anne should do the support. As for you lady just stay for now until it's weakened." John's eyes squinted as he formulated a basic formation.

His friends became amazed by his sudden transformation. His ability is also amazing, He came up with a wise tactic on the spot.

"Okay, let's do this." John and Syko looked at each other and nodded. The two sprinted towards the werewolf. John is on the left and Syko is on the right side.

The Werewolf notices an approaching threat on either side. John has more speed than Syko as he reaches first. The Werewolf wasn't slow either, it growled menacingly, and it swung its claw so fast, making John surprised.

John twisted his body, dodging the incoming claw. However, the tip of the claw was able to scratch his cheeks.

Blood trickles down. Yet John remained unfazed. As a boxer, he receives so many hits on the face, that a mere scratch is nothing. But John still felt dread a bit, seeing such a fast response from the monster.

Even if the Werewolf is strong, it's still a stupid monster. Syko swung his sword horizontally, grazing the waist of the Werewolf before retreating when the Werewolf swung its claw at him.

"This bastard skin is very hard. I only graze it." Syko clicked his tongue.

As the Werewolf attacked Syko, it was enraged that some puny insect was able to scratch it.

John wasn't lazy either, He struck the other side of the wolf. As he struck, John felt he was punching a stone wall.

"How do we defeat this thing?" John asked Syko as he evaded the Werewolf's attack.

The two of them repeated strike and retreat tactics.

After his INT stats rose, Syko felt his mind break its shackle. He can now solve the formula he cannot answer in his mind. Syko contemplated, he attacked the Werewolf's possible weaknesses, but to no avail.

"Although, We only scratches it. Its HP is still decreasing albeit slowly." Syko shouted. "Mark! Nat! Come!"

Mark and Natasha were waiting for the opportunity to attack and heard Syko's voice.

"Change of Plans, this bastard is tough we need to slowly reduce its HP!" Syko shouted. "Anne! Fire your Arrows when there's an opening, I'll give you a signal. Fey, use your ability to heal us, in case some of u us get injured."

"Roger!" Fey shouted and Anne placed an arrow on the string of her bow, aiming towards the Werewolf.

Tina worriedly watched the situation unfold. She felt a sense of guilt, she was useless. She was very afraid. Gripping her staff tightly, she read her Unique Ability.

"I'll Help!" She shouted. She pointed her staff towards the Werewolf and cast her ability. She prayed that her ability would work.

"Wow!" Syko whistled. "Great Job!"
