Vivian exclaimed and got so excited on the room that they got.
"If only you do not give what we earn to those families who came to war, then we might be living in luxury"
Estelle coldly said and sat on sofa and rest her head since she is having a headache to all the stressful events that just happened.
"Having less means having more"
Her sister replied.
"So? What are you scheming?"
Estelle asked and stared at Vivian who is nonchalantly eating the food on the table like a barbarian.
"What do you mean?"
She asked with her mouth full of meat.
"Don't act dumb. I know you. What is the reason for staying here?"
Estelle asked and Vivian's eyes changed. It is firing with determination.
"The war is over for the four Empires but not for us. The Posse of the Unseen exists because it is our responsibility to chase, absorb, and destroy the soul of 'the evils' but we are also considered witches because we have the highest possibility to become the Greater Evil because of our blood. It even got worse when one of us, that damn Hailey, even aided the previous tyrant Emperor of the Nothern Empire because she was bewitched by that cunning man"
"So? What does that event do anything with this damn Empire?"
"Three years ago, the Ancient Evils appear in this Empire and we all know that the disappearance of the Ancient Evils will also free us since they are our ancestors by blood. But what bothers me is that, there are six instead of five"
Vivian explained.
"In short, you want us to become an ordinary human by annihilating the Ancient Evils"
Estelle commented and Vivian nodded her head excitedly.
"First, did you already informed the others about your plan? Second, how will we lure out the Ancient Evils? Lastly, how sure you are that this Empire is where the Ancient Evils live?"
She asked after she saw her older sister's excitement.
"First, those guys already agreed. Second, we just need to convince the Empress. Lastly, I am sure of it because I accidentally heard it from our own father when he last visited the island"
Vivian replied all her sister's questions in order.
"You are a very calculative person and I do trust your decisions, but... why does the Empress must involve?"
Estelle asked and her sister smirked.
"Because she holds the power of the Caller"
Vivian confidently replied.
"F-Father also said that..?"
She asked and the elder nodded her head to confirm.
"After we convinced the Empress, let's call the others to help us"
Estelle said but Vivian's head drooped.
"I am sorry Estelle"
She said which made her sister shocked because this is the first time she heard her apologize to anyone.
"W-Why are you apologizing?
Estelle asked.
"Only the two of us can do this mission
The others should not be involved"
Vivian replied with sadness in her tone.
"W-What..? Why...? That's fuckin' impossible! We are already freakin' dead before we could kill the third Ancient!"
Estelle reasoned out in a rush knowing that fighting the Ancient Evils with just the two of them is suicidal.
"Please calm down, Essie. The reason why only the two of us will do the mission is because we are the strongest. Getting those weaker than us in this risky mission will lead to their definite deaths and that would make me guilty for the rest of my life. Also, I have plans"
Vivian calmly replied and her sister who was just agitated awhile ago slightly calmed down.
"All we need to do for now is stay here and earn the trust of the Emperor and the Empress"
She added.
"Alright..."
Estelle hesitantly replied.
"You earn the trust of the Emperor and I will earn the trust of the Empress through their child"
Vivian excitedly said but Estelle looked gloomy on what she had said.
"In the past three years since you first came to the island, you usually hang out with men than than with the ladies"
She added.
"That's because I want to improve my combat skills"
Estelle just casually replied.
"And because of that, you earned their respect. Do what you did to those men to the Emperor. You do not need to earn his respect, you just need to earn his trust. I believe you can do it, my dear Essie"
Vivian said while smiling but behind her smile is full of schemes and calculations that Estelle liked and trusted ever since she met her.
"You are the most cunning person I've ever met"
Estelle replied and her sister just giggled.
The next day, the two sisters from the Posse of the Unseen started to move as they planned. Through their father, Giovanni, they were able to get a imeprial attendance with the Emperor and Empress of the Eastern Empire.
Present in the Imperial Hall is Emperor Nicolaus, Emperor Victor, Empress Camilla, Crown Prince William, Chief Priest Giovanni, Duke Jerome, and Duke Dwayne.
"Your Majesties, please postpone the monetary award to us"
Vivian said while she and Estelle are standing straight before the Royals.
"Why?"
Nicolaus asked and even looked at Camilla who just shrugged her shoulders.
"My sister will tell you the reason"
She replied with sadness on her tone and Estelle stepped forward. Her emerald eyes stared at the Crown Prince full of worries and then sighed.
"W-What is it this time? Tell us"
Camilla courageously asked despite the negative reaction that she saw from Estelle.
"It is one of the principles of the Posse of the Unseen that a reward must be received once the mission is completed, however..."
Estelle calmly said while removing the bandages on her right hand. To everyone's surprise, her right arm is terribly burnt.
"Why did you not tell me that you got injured?!"
Giovanni worriedly asked as he immediately grabbed the burnt arm of Estelle but she hissed because of the pain she felt.
"Be gentle on your own daughter, you freakin' old geezer"
She was clearly annoyed and punched Giovanni in the stomach using her left fist.
"Sorry... let me heal you first"
Giovanni said while holding his stomach and then healed her daughter's arm.
"Look. One of the Ancient Evils already took their revenge on me"
Estelle said while staring at Camilla who immediately carried her son.
"Are you saying... my son is still not safe?"
She worriedly asked and Estelle's silence means a yes to her question.
"Nico...!"
She exclaimed and Nicolaus immediately consoled her.
"That is why, we humbly ask that my older sister and I will stay here in the Imperial Palace of the Eastern Empire for the meantime until we finished our goal"
Estelle firmly said.
"What is your goal?"
Nicolaus coldly asked.
"Destroy the souls of the Ancient Evils"
She replied while putting a new bandages on her right arm.
"How?"
He asked again.
"Find the Caller who appeared three years ago in this Empire and lure those Ancient Evils out"
Vivian answered since Estelle looked hesitant in answering.
"That will just risk my entire Empire including my family"
He coldly said and the hall was filled with silence.
"Leave"
He coldly said and Estelle already turned around to leave but Vivian did not moved an inch.
"Leave while I am still kind!"
He furiously repeated when he saw that Vivian did not heed to his words.
"Estelle Montcroix!"
Vivian shouted and Estelle stopped walking.
"Please bring back that cheerful, kind, gentle, and righteous Estelle Montcroix! Stop lamenting...It is not your fault what happened on that war!"
She added with desperation in her voice.
"That Estelle Montcroix is weak, so no. If the Royals do not trust us and so do I, they are filthy. In fact, since the very start, I do not give a damn about that imbecile useless royal kid who cannot even protect himself against those evils and on top of that he is a son of the O' So Great Divine Priestess and yet"
Estelle replied and shrugged her shoulders with a smug on her face. All the Royals fumed out in anger on her answer.
"Watch your mouth, you damn witch!"
Nicolaus warned her and she turned around to look at him with her emotionless eye.
"You do not even know me, so leave me and any of the members of the Posse of the Unseen alone, you damn filthy Chili-Pepper-Royal"
She replied him with a warning and left the hall. Everyone was shocked that for the first time, someone talked back and even insulted the cold-blooded Emperor of the Eastern Empire without losing her head.
"Eh? What happened to our plan?"
Vivian thought and just stood there dumbfounded.
