Chapter 2 - Solarion

Two days have passed since I was reborn. At this moment, I do not have school since I just finished junior year. My senior year does not start till August 29th, giving me plenty of time to reacclimate and catch up with my studies. The plan now was to ensure that I did not attract their attention.

I refuse to be in that family again. I do not want to be lonely again.

I was down at my desk and began to write down key points. I know that my journey is going to be a lot tougher than ever before. Now isn't the time to be the blase eighteen-year-old I was in my previous life. I am not going to let myself walk down the road of wrong choices again.

As I noted, the order of events that took place after entering the Czarino family, I heard footsteps along with giggles. My lips curled into a soft smile at the sounds.

I knew who was going to enter the room. I put my pen down and closed the notebook. I spun the chair around, facing the door. The door burst wide open, and two blurs raced into my arms, shrieking in laughter.

They were none other than Jo Ann Lawson and her younger sister, Kimberly Clair Lawson. They are currently the youngest in the foster home at ages nine and seven, respectively. In my previous life, they were adopted by a wonderful couple.

As my arms wrapped around them, I pulled them close and lightly hugged them. The girls hugged me back. I pulled away to see them grinning. " So, tell Big Brother who you pranked and on a scale of 1 to 10 how mad they are going to be," I spoke so matter that, factly, the girls pouted in mock upset.

" Big Brother Solar, we did not prank anyone. We are good girls." came Jo Ann's voice. Just as I was about to reply, a loud shriek resounded. That was enough to tell me that the girls before me were involved.

" JO ANN AND KIMBERLY LAWSON !!!!! COME DOWN HERE RIGHT NOW!!!!!!" came the voice of our foster home parent, Peyton Jonas. My eyes darkened in quiet rage as I remembered her cruelty. Getting up, I gently herded the girls to the door. They looked scared. I squeezed their shoulders gently.

"Don't worry. I am here. It's going to be alright." I reassured them. They gave shaky smiles.

We left my room and headed down the stairs to the room where our foster mom yelled from, which was from the living room. The spacious living room gave off a cozy atmosphere with beige walls, a brick fireplace, cherry-tone bookshelves, boucle couches with afghans on the arms, and a huge cream rug, for added warmth. Sitting on the couch was a middle-aged woman with long hair, green eyes, a taut body, and an angry look on her face. Her hair, however, was a different story. What used to be a blond color was now neon pink.

I struggled to hold my laughter at the sight. The girls did a good job. Peyton looked ready to go to war when the door opened and trooped in our social worker, Caspian Ferdinand.

This man will forever have my utmost respect.

He tried to save me from the Czarinos, but it was futile as they pulled strings to relocate him. He had an air of approachability along with a muscular body, charming face, and grey eyes. He took one look and knew what exactly happened. His lips twitched, and his eyes conveyed the laughter he was holding back.

" That's quite a nice color you are sporting, Mrs. Jonas. Whoever did your hair has my utmost compliments." Caspian spoke, making Peyton scowl. She was about to retort when a boy around my age entered. He had golden brown hair, blue eyes, and an athletic build. He had a butterfly tattoo on his neck. I felt tears well up when I saw him.

Jax Reyes - Romonava.

My brother of my heart.

He was one of the only few who saw the real me. When I got adopted, he disappeared. I looked for him, but I soon realized that he was involved in the Underworld. I never knew what happened.

Jax noticed me and grinned. I gave a small smile back. He turned to see Peyton and stared. I snorted at his expression.

He gave a once over and grinned slyly. "Hey, Mrs. P. Nice hair color. I did not know that rave colors are your favorite. I shall introduce you to a friend who does some crazy styling. You don't mind, right ?" he asked, whipping out his cellphone.

Peyton paled and zipped out of the room without a backward glance. All of us burst into laughter. Jo Ann and Kimberly giggled. Caspian had a fond look in his eyes at the sight. Jax looked proud.

" Alright, ladies. I need to speak with your big brothers for a moment. " Caspian spoke, looking at the me and Jax with a somber look on his face that told me whatever he was going to tell is bad.

Jax and I looked at each other and nodded. The girls pouted but made their way out under our watchful eyes. Once the door was closed, Caspian spoke to us.

"I am going to be completely honest with you both. The so-called fundraiser that you are attending tonight is infact dangerous. I can guarantee the safety of the girls but not yours as I have been notified that the Czarinos and the Marchese wish to buy you both." Caspian spoke with helplessness.

My blood ran cold at the mention of both names as l looked at my hands. The Czarino and Marchese clans may be the best in terms of the reputation, but behind closed doors, they were ruthless and merciless. It now made sense why I couldn't find out about Jax. I looked up to see Jax pale in shock. I walked over to him and wrapped my arms around him. He relaxed immediately. Caspian smiled at the brotherhood between us.

" You may be upset, but you have another solution, don't you ? You are just waiting for us to ask you about it." I confidently spoke, surprising both the men in front of me. I trusted Caspian. Something told me that he has a card up his sleeve that is yet to be played and a very valuable one. Caspian could help but grin at my words while Jax looked on with a hint of hope.

" The Casimir family is willing to help you out for a price." Caspian announced, making us both look at him in shock. The Casimir family is a royal family in Daire City and powerful enough to destroy any family.

"Why?" Jax asked with shock and awe in his voice while I looked skeptical of the entire situation. Caspian looked at us with a seriousness that felt forced. " The Casimir family are looking for two boys for the Patriarch, Sebastian Casimir. He is the 19th head and does not have any children. He wishes to raise two boys who will be each other's support. The minute he saw your profiles, his heart was set."

Silence followed while Caspian let us ponder. Jax and I looked at each other. Jax nodded. I looked at Caspian and spoke.

" Let them know that we are interested, Caspian."
