Chapter 36 - FALLING THUNDERS

"Senior sister, look its Reece he's arrived." Hwang shouted as he pointed towards the sky.

The skies above the battlefield darkened with ominous clouds. Thunder rumbled like an angry beast, and arcs of lightning streaked across the sky, casting an eerie, electric glow upon the disciples below. They stood bewildered at the sudden change in the skies, thunder roared across the sky as the skies opened its belly and swallowed the air and left a heavy suppression on the disciples below as it cracked open and roared. The darkened clouds then further changed, and an eerie red, crimson glow filled the sky and it started raining blood red rain.

In the midst of the tempest, Reece emerged from the center of the thundering clouds, walking on the flashes of lightning and behind him it danced around forming a dragon soaring in the midst of the lightning. He walked with a calm and purposeful stride through the lightning and crimson blood rain that cascaded from the heavens.

As Reece approached the battlefield, his aura crackled with energy. Lightning danced around him, forming a protective barrier in the shape of a dragon and a sword of lightning in hand ready to split the earth open. His eyes gleamed with a fierce glare of anger and determination, as he spoke with a voice that resonated like thunder itself, his breath dropped a sudden suppression on everyone as he spoke. His breath alone caused a change as the air grew heavy as the tensions grew thinner among the other disciples as they feared what he'd do now that they decided to attack his fellow disciples.

"Enough! step away from them if you do not want to end up in the afterlife, and if you know what's best I'd suggest you let the prince loose too." Reece declared, his words carrying over the roars of the storm. "Huaje take the other disciples and stand back, anyone who dares come forward shall meet the king of hell."

Several cultivators hesitated, torn between their desire for power and fear from the domineering presence of Reece. Some lowered their weapons, while others remained defiant and rushed forward to attack dismissing the warning from Reece. Reece's power surged, and he raised the lightning sword in his hand and swinging it, and summoning bolts of lightning that crashed down upon those who decided to take action and tearing them from the plane of existence. The ground quaked, and arcs of electricity coursed through the battlefield, creating a dazzling display of raw power.

"I don't need to repeat myself again, do I?" Reece spoke as his voice thunderously cracked the platform beneath as he was descending slowly to the ground. The crimson rain was subsiding and Reece whose aura was still cackling with energy approached the ground and his fellow disciples who had been badly injured in the fight earlier.

"The crimson devil finally graces us with his presence, the thunderous cultivator. Finally, I get to meet you, I heard you are a genius above geniuses, I'd like to see." Leeke a disciple of the martial asura sect appeared from the shadows as she spoke with a smirk on her face hinting on her arrogance.

Reece's eyes narrowed and a sudden rise in his temper almost flared his anger up again when he saw the martial asura sect uniform, but he maintained a calm expression in the face of his enemy. He scouted around the second peak with his spiritual energy trying to find out if there were more and if Lian was also in the vicinity. The others watched in hushed anticipation, knowing that a showdown between two powerhouses was about to unfold. Andrea, who was the earlier instigator, creeped back out of sight as she tried to get out of Reece's field of view.

"Very well," Reece responded, his voice carrying the weight of authority. "I accept your challenge, since I have some grievances with your sect I'd like to finish up and get some answers finally."

Leeke chuckled, displaying her confidence. "Don't worry, crimson. I'm not interested in what you guys are fighting for. I just want to see if you're as good as they say you are."

The two combatants stepped back, creating a respectful distance between them. The tension in the air was palpable as they prepared for battle. Reece drew arcs of lightning, forming a protective barrier around himself, while Leeke adopted a defensive stance, exuding an air of calculated aggression. She looked at Reece as if she were studying him and trying to break down his defenses in her mind as she ran countless simulations in her mind before she actually launched an attack.

The battle began with a burst of lightning from Reece that surged through the battle platform towards the other side dismantling all that was in its path, this was followed by Leeke's blindingly fast movements. She darted in and out, striking with precision and grace. Reece countered with bolts of lightning, but Leeke skillfully avoided them, using her agility and the shadow technique to dodge the lightning strikes at almost the exact moment when Reece launched them. Leeke was using her hell's gate eyes which made her predict Reece next attack with ease.

"I thought this would be a fight so far you haven't landed a hit on me crimson, are you teasing me or are you just bad at aiming?" Leeke remarked as her confidences and arrogance took center stage as she found it easy to dodge and avoid Reece's lightning.

"You can talk all you want shadow guy, but I haven't even warmed up yet, you are not enough to make me warm up." Reece returned the sentiment as he teased Leeke and sought to injure Leeke's arrogance.

"AAARGH," Leeke grunted as she now opted to take the offensive and attack Reece to payback the kind words, he had just said to her.

The fight raged on, their techniques clashing with explosive force. Reece seeing Leeke take the offensive decided to change his own tactics and take on the offensive to. He conjured up his ethereal sword and went on to meet Leeke head on and make it a close combat fight. As swords and daggers clashed the sparks light up from the intense fight between the two as the dark clouds that had hung above them dissipated as Reece retracted his lightning.

The moonlight spilled through the dense canopy of trees, casting dappled shadows on the cobblestone ground on the platform. Their swords gleamed in the moon's pale light as the battle raged on, Reece's swords gleamed as brightly under the moonlight as though the borrowed power from the moon goddess herself. Th figures of the combatants looked divine as the fought under the moonlight. Their swords clashed with a resounding clash, sparks flying as metal met metal Flesh fighting flesh and sweat dripping the Earth filling its belly with blood and sweat. Reece's attacks were powerful and precise, his strikes aimed at disabling his opponent. Leeke however gracefully sidestepped each blow with fluid movements and managed to land a hit on Reece and drawing first blood.

As the duel unfolded, Andrea watched from behind as she held her fingers crossed waiting for Reece to be struck down by Leeke, she held her breath as she also summoned the rest of the martial asura disciples to come to the second peak before the duel was over.

The duel evolved into a dance of death, each combatant seeking an opening in the other's defense once again. Their blades moved in a mesmerizing blur of steel, the moonlight tracing the graceful arcs of their strikes. Leeke, shrouded in a cloak that billowed like a shadowy specter, seemed to disappear and reappear from the shadows, her attacks unpredictable and lightning fast and precise to the tip.

Reece's brute strength was met by Leeke's finesse and agility. She parried and dodged with remarkable skill, her cloak twirling as she whirled away from danger. The platform was their stage, and the moon their spotlight and the other cultivators their audience, as they wove intricate patterns of steel and silence.

As the duel continued, the audience held their breath, captivated by the raw power and grace on display. The clash of steel against steel created a symphony of sounds that echoed through the battle grounds, as they fought on the speed at which they were fighting increased that it was hard to keep up with the naked eye. They fought and danced their way to skies as the clashed. Leeke put on a smile as she had finally met an adversary worthy of her fighting to her limit. She was ecstatic as she could display all her might in this fight, she unleashed more power to her strikes and more techniques that she forced Reece to finally use every tool in his arsenal.

With every parry and thrust, they exchanged the weight of their techniques and skills. Reece's blade nicked Leeke's cloak, revealing a glimpse of dark armor beneath her. Leeke countered with a lightning-quick strike, narrowly missing Reece's crotch. Reece retreated back whilst checking if his manhood was still intact or he had lost it on the course of the fight.

The culmination was a symphony of power, technique, and elemental energy. As their blades clashed once more, a burst of brilliance lit up the night sky and adorned the battle ground with scars worthy of a legendary fight.
