Chapter 8 - What really happened

Seycus hovered in the sky, surveying the land below destroying the technological advancement of the lowly races to not create a rebellion with a sense of weariness. "Truly exhausting, sigh," he muttered to himself as he prepared numerous blazing orbs resembling miniature suns and hurled them towards the goblin village.

Grinning wickedly, Seycus watched as the fireballs detonated upon impact, engulfing the goblin territory in massive explosions. "Oh, look at these lowly beings trying to survive," he muttered, chuckling at their feeble efforts as they scrambled to evade the flames and launched spears skyward in a futile attempt to strike him.

With a wave of his hand, Seycus muttered a spell, erecting a protective barrier around himself. "How amusing," he remarked as he intensified the inferno, reducing the goblin camp to smoldering ruins.

As the last embers flickered out, Seycus effortlessly quelled the flames with a flick of his finger. Descending to the ground, he smirked at the remnants of his handiwork, reveling in his overwhelming power.

...

Seycus strolled around humming tunes, his grin widening as he searched for surviving goblins amidst the wreckage.

A twitch in the forest caught Seycus's attention, his spatial awareness alerting him to the presence nearby. "These races, I swear they're like cockroaches," he sighed, irritation evident in his voice.

Raising his hands, Seycus conjured icicles in the sky, a touch of dread gripping his heart as a sense of impending doom washed over him. With a terrified sweat, he swiftly teleported to the source of the disturbance.

Arriving underground in the storage room, Seycus felt his heart pounding erratically. "What is this feeling? It's not from me. If it were, I would have been dead," he thought, his confusion mounting as he descended the stairs.

Narrowing his eyes, Seycus spotted a black-haired boy with one arm pierced, his clothes tattered, and his body showing signs of malnutrition. "There!" Seycus muttered, his attention drawn to the boy who collapsed to the ground. As the boy's soul began to depart, darkness enveloped it, emitting a miasma of death that only magicians could perceive, causing the surroundings to glitch.

"Hahahahaha! At long last! For 300 years of research from my ancestors," Seycus laughed maniacally as he approached the boy. "Oh dear boy, I will not let you die just yet."

Raising his hands, Seycus infused the boy's body with a green glow and cast a seventh-tier spell of instant restoration, with a hint of resurrection.
