Chapter 1 - The Will To Live:

Prologue -

I always have a weak health ever since I was born. It feels like I might die anytime, but fate always provided me a way to survive. Each day I've wondered:

'Will i get to see tomorrow?'

Because of this poor body, I'm always locked up in my room at the hospital and my eyes never get to see the outside world. The only peek I could get was the view of the garden visible from the window of my room.

Because of this weak and helpless body of mine, I have a negative view of the world. My parents have always tried to cheer me up and of course I tried to live up to their expectations. I always smile but I'm broken inside.

I have long hidden this bitter feeling in my chest with a mask of happiness. I have long given up to have a shred of hope.

But never did I know that the shreds of hope im wishing for, would come to my life. With just a little encounter, my life slowly changes to the one I have always dreaming of.

To walk freely, to see the outside world, and to fly like a bird in the sky.

The light of my hope.

The one I'm always wishing for.....

....came to me.

It was yet another day of suffering. At the winter in December of 14 was the day, that I met him. I was 15 years old that time. It was noon that time and I'm lying down again in the bed, my hands touches the soft white clean sheets providing my hand a little comfort. The door in my room opened up slowly and a silhouette peeks through the gap.

My parents came in with a boy a little older than me. They glanced at each other as if communicating through their gazes. Dad coughed up clearing his throat before speaking ina lower voice.

"Hello my child.... how are you feeling today?"

"I'm fine father, thanks to you."

"..."

It looks like he have run out of words. My father was not the type to socialize with others very often so he doesn't know how to word his thoughts.

"Who is he?"

"....Oh. This is your new doctor. The other one's schedule was changed. So from now on, he'll be the one taking care of you."

I looked at the brunette boy near the door. He have that reassuring smile in his face and his eyes looked at me with pity. My brows frowned at the thought of it. I may have a weak health but I dont want others to look down on me because of pity.

"Hey uh..."

"Naia. Call me Naia."

He was wide eyed for a moment before he scratch his cheek awkwardly. He cleared up his throat before speaking up with a more bright tone.

"Hello Naia. I'm felix, pleased to meet you. I hope we get along from now on. Y'know? I can be you're friends since I guess you don't have one-"

Father nudged  him in the arm glaring at him.

"I-Im just kidding. I'll do my best to take care of you."

So he'll just take care of me? I guess this frail body couldn't really be cured. I look down at the bed, gazing at my pale hands on top of the white sheets. The color almost blended together. I tried to speak in a more composed tone putting all of my thoughts aside.

"Of course. Pleased to meet you too. I'll be in your care."

"O-oh then can we leave you here to talk? We'll be waiting outside but will you be alright?"

"Yes mom please do. I'll be alright."

They hesitantly leave the room. I glanced at the brown haired guy who sat at the chair at the side of my bed. His eyes scanned my body he seems to be wondering what kind of disease I have or at least, that's what I think.

"I always have a poor health. Ever sinde I was born. Even a mere cold could threaten my life at any moment. This machines is the only thing that could help me live."

His eyes tensed up a little before softing up once more. I smiled with sadness. I dont even know what to feel anymore this bitterness in my chest was so tight it pains me. Tears started to form at my eyes, I turned my head towards the window, looking at the bird in the branch who flaps its wings before flying up in the sky.

"You see that bird? I just hope that bird was me. I have always want to be free. Free from this room, look at beautiful sightings and not just this plain white wall."

"But I have no choice. If I'm not here, my body was probably buried deep the ground by now. How I wish... that... I could be.. a free bird. I-I dont wanna be a caged bird..."

The tears I've been trying to hold until now falls down to my lap. I dont wanna look pathetic at a person I've just met, but I just feel like I can tell him my troubles. After all he is my doctor so I should tell him how I feel.

".... You know, if you don't swim through the current of the river you'll be pushed back."

Huh? I raised my head locking eyes with him. I couldn't figure out what he just said.

"What... do you mean?"

"You see, if you dont fight back you'll be defeated. If you don't swim, you'll drown. And if you don't make your move, who will?"

He smiled at me, his gaze look so soft and calming.

"You're the only one who can stand up for yourself. Others was just there to support you."

"I... I dont... understand."

Pffttt! He chuckled at my res
