Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Can You Feel Sorry for Your Husband?

She really is special. Even though she married on impulse, she has the courage to admit it.

However, Yigol Novak realized that it was rare for Suri Drew to call him "husband". If he wanted to take their relationship further, he was dreaming.

Even though they had only known each other for half a day, Yigol could sense that Suri was a strong-willed girl.

She was daring but definitely not a pushover.

During work, Suri made quite a few phone calls. She didn't share anything with Yigol, but he was able to figure out that she was having issues with a client.

Recently, a leasing company she worked with had been dominating the market, causing her to lose quite a few clients.

Suri is the kind of person who is serious about her work. When someone invited her to dinner, she flatly refused.

As a result, she has lost even more clients.

Yigol went up to ask her, "You're having issues with property sourcing?"

"Mhm." Suri nodded, "Honey, leave it to me. It's not within your capacity anyway, right? Don't you have to go deliver packages?"

"Hold on a second." Yigol left the room.

The moment he stepped out, all eyes were on him.

Suri's calling him "husband" has likely stirred up quite a shock. Everyone was curious about the man managed to catch the eye of the always picky Mrs. Drew.

Yigol went to the washroom. With a stretch of his hand, he conjured a file folder out of thin air.

Inside were files of contracts Yigol signed with various clients.

Copies of his property deeds for eleven buildings and a variety of contracts were in the system box.

The system box could hold all sorts of rewards given by the System, but once taken out, they couldn't be put back in.

The System probably knew about Suri's situation and arranged things in this way. The contracts Yigol had with his clients were about to expire.

Returning to Suri's office with the contracts, Yigol put them on her desk, "Have a look."

"What?" Suri asked as she opened the folder.

"Just look at the back." Yigol advised.

Suri opened the back page, "Honey, how did you..."

Seeing Suri's surprise, Yigol was over the moon. This was the reaction he wanted.

Suri saw Yigol's signature on the back, and she was taken aback, "Is this real? Or did you forge this to make me happy?"

"Can't you tell if it's real or not?" Yigol smiled, responding.

Suri examined it carefully again. Indeed, it wasn't fake. She was so shocked that she didn't know how to react.

"My contract is about to expire, but they haven't contacted me at all, it seems like they don't want to renew it."

"Otherwise, do you think you could do your husband a favor and take over this project?"

"Otherwise, managing this myself would drive me crazy." Yigol looked at Suri with a pitiful expression.

"H...aha," Suri was amused by Yigol's pitiful look.

After laughing for a while, she carefully stored the file in a bag, "Honey, they'll contact you a few days before the contract expires. They probably want to push you to give in on the price, but at the same time don't want to leave you too much time to think. You can just sit tight and wait."

Her reply made it quite clear that she didn't want Yigol to exert himself so overtly to help her out.

"What are you doing?" Yigol put the contract back on Suri's desk. "You're my wife, so aren't my things yours, too? Why must we distinguish our possessions so clearly?"

"I'm entrusting you with managing my properties. Let's not talk about revenue. I've no plans for a divorce, so the wife is in charge of the household."

"If they contact me, I'll simply turn them down. However, you should be well-prepared. Before those contracts expire, you need to hire more people. Your current staff won't be enough for twenty-four hours a day."

"But, but, this is clearly yours, from before we married, you really don't need to..."

"Okay, enough said. If you keep nitpicking, your husband will get upset," Yigol interrupted.

"As far as money is concerned, your husband isn't that particular. After all, you can't take it with you when you die."

"I just don't want to be too idle, so I'm delivering packages, wandering around."

"Now, wouldn't that resolve the issue with your company? I've moved into your house already. Don't forget to come home early for dinner. I'm not sure what you like, so I'll just whip up something random."

"Bye." Yigol left after saying his piece.

Suri wanted to stop him but didn't know what to say.

Watching Yigol's retreating back, Suri started to smile.

"I can't believe I impulsively married a super-rich husband?"

Suri was finding it hard to distinguish between reality and fantasy.

In fact, after she registered her marriage with Yigol, she strongly suspected that she must be seriously ill to have registered their marriage after a roadside meeting.

However, she's already registered their marriage, and she's the kind of person who is willing to face the consequences of her actions.

That being said, she wouldn't just easily give herself away, hence, she planned on testing Yigol to see if he would be a suitable life partner.

Her man can be not-so-wealthy, but he must be ambitious.

That is, if a person is ambitious, how bad could it get?

She was fully aware of how attractive she was. Armed with both beauty and brains, men lined up to pursue her, yet not one of them was genuine. All they were after was her good looks.

Since Yigol is a positive and cheerful character, life with him shouldn't be too bad. If Yigol could pass her test, she would consider spending the rest of her life with him.

Since they have already registered their marriage, she didn't want to become a divorcee unless it was absolutely necessary.

On top of that, their meeting was purely coincidental and Yigol didn't know her background, hence, he wasn't approaching her on purpose.

Unexpectedly, Yigol has brought her such a big surprise.

"When I finish up, I'll go home to check on him." Suri recalled him instructing her to come home early for dinner.

Suri was rather looking forward to it. Could this guy cook?

After separating from Suri, Yigol was feeling quite pleased with himself. This wealthy tycoon feeling was simply too awesome.

He told Suri the truth. If he was to remain married to her, he doesn't need to negotiate about money.

Money, after all, can't be taken with one after death. He could tell that Suri isn't the money-grubbing kind of woman, hence, it's also a blessing to be provided for by a wife.

Moreover, he's not short of money to spend. He still has 1 billion dollars in his possession.

Besides, he is a person who has the System by his side. Why should he worry about starving?

Being nice to Suri also has its benefits for him. As long as he can secure a good relationship with her and stabilize their marriage, his life would be on easy street and each day would be better than the last.
