Chapter 83 - 83:- Check

"Hey, little shit, get back here!" I angrily shouted to my pet snake, Albireo. Well, not so little anymore.

The snake looked at me, stopped eating its prey, and hissed angrily as it crawled back to me. I extended my right arm, and it slithered up to my neck.

"Yo, you've grown a lot in just two weeks," I said, impressed. Albireo lifted its head proudly, almost as if it was smirking.

I scratched its neck area, and it let out a cute whimper before wrapping itself around my neck. It had grown significantly, now about an arm's length. I didn't know if this was normal, but it was impressive nonetheless.

As we walked through the forest, which was now transitioning from green to orange, I moved quietly, listening to every sound.

Suddenly, I heard a squeak and moved toward the source, sneakingly. Albireo, which had moved from my neck to inside my shirt, erected its head from my shirt while wrapped around my body.

I sneaked behind a bush and observed a rabbit with a single horn and white and black fur, munching on grass.

I looked at Albireo and whispered, "Albi, wanna kill it?" It understood my words, nodded, and slithered out of my shirt toward the rabbit.

Within a minute of giving the command, Albireo was wrapped around the lifeless body of the rabbit. I picked up the rabbit while Albireo returned to its favorite spot inside my shirt.

"Now that dinner is secured, let's move a bit further and make camp," I decided.

After an hour of walking, as the sun was setting, I found a nice spot to set up.

I set up camp and sat down, pulling out the now-dead tablet. I fiddled with it, hoping to get it working again.

"Fucking machinery disappoints at the worst times," I muttered angrily. After a few futile attempts, I set it aside and turned my attention to roasting the rabbit.

Albi watched me with a look that seemed to say I was ruining the food he had worked so hard to kill.

"Just you wait, you raw-eating brat. I'll show you," I muttered, remembering the time when Albi was just born.

I laughed at the memory of my stupidity. Not knowing what he ate, I spent a whole day capturing a cow, milking it, and bringing the milk back to Albi, only to find him happily munching on insects. A whole day of cow-chasing for nothing.

After a while, the rabbit was ready.

I picked up a nice chunk of meat and placed it in front of Albi. He looked at me questioningly.

I gestured for him to eat.Albi sniffed the meat and took a tentative bite, expecting the worst.

To his surprise, he found it delicious. His bewildered expression made me laugh heartily. He quickly finished his portion and lunged at the rest of the rabbit.

"Manners," I scolded, placing him back at his spot and giving him his share.

I tasted my portion. As always, it was bland. I sighed. "Well, at least one of us is happy," I said, watching Albi devour his meal with enthusiasm.

After 1 month:-

"AAARRRR," the liger roared contentedly, flipping a chunk of meat into its mouth. I sat with my hand supporting me, wearing a nonchalant—if slightly annoyed—expression as I watched both Albi and the liger devour their meals.

Albi, who had grown to an absurd length and size in such a short time, slithered around my body before disappearing inside the massive bear's corpse, tearing through the insides and feasting on whatever it could find.

I sighed, my eyes drifting from Albi to the liger. "Guess you both are having a good time," I muttered, feeling like the odd one out as I watched them tear into their kills. The liger, with its mixture of brown and bronze fur, glanced at me briefly. Uninterested.

Some might wonder why I'm sitting here with an annoyed look on my face while there's a feast right in front of me. What can I say? I just want to get out of this hellhole. It's driving me crazy. If it weren't for Albi, I might've caused a genocide here by now.

It's the air—it's changing me. The first thing it did was fucking strip away my beautiful golden hair, turning it into this dull white. And my eyes… I don't know if they've changed completely yet, but I can feel them shifting, becoming a lighter shade of gold, might be shimmering amethyst. I dont know. My body feels heavier, but my senses are sharper. My movements, though more limited, have become more precise.

Is it a virus? A disease? I don't know. But I can't exactly get a doctor out here, and this damn tablet, this useless piece of junk, isn't working either.

Other than all that, there's another reason I'm sitting here with my hands idle, looking annoyed—killing this Dog Child was tough. If the three of us hadn't worked together, Mr. Liger here would've been dead meat.

Looking at the dumbass Liger, I couldn't help but think, What the hell were you thinking, fighting a bear three times your size? I wanted to say it out loud, but animals can't talk. Only Albi gets it...
