Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 | A New Assassination Request

According the theories of famous researchers and scientists -"In an alternate universe, anything could become a variable that could lead us to alternate timeline but there are various things that could never be changed."

This is a story regarding that "alternate" timeline which had many variables however that undying love was eternal.

....

This fantasy world was called Solheim. Which was more than 1000 times larger than Earth. A very deadly yet peaceful world with large biomes and heavenly environment.

A world where monsters roam freely in the wilderness, Mages use the unknown and strange energy called "mana" to protect the humanity and other races from extinction.

It had many types of creatures living in this world like humans, elves, dwarfs, giants, spirits, demons, goblins, dragons, orcs and some other worldy creatures.

Some of them were at war with each other for the territorial expansion, while many races co-existed in a peaceful manner.

Almost every country in that world had the political system similar to the the "Old Regime" of France which included royalties, nobilities, peasants, slaves etc.

Mages were differentiated in ranks like :

1-9 ☆ Apprentice

1-9 ☆ Mage

1-9 ☆ Arch-Mage

Apprentice Mages can live upto 200 years while an official mage can easily live upto 400 years if they don't die in any fight ofcourse.

Arch Mages were the true pinnacle of this world. They could live upto 1000 years and all of them were widely known and have the power to cause of destruction similar to the scale of nuclear bombs.

.....

In the headquarters of the Assassin Guild in the Kingdom of Xydor.

A man could be seen standing infront of a desk while an old man named Kelvin Grey, who had a powerful and imposing demeanor, was reading the summary of the young man's assassin card.

That young man was Atlas, He had a blue eyes, sturdy strong body with a blonde hair reaching his shoulders.

--------------------------------------------------------------

"Oi brat, I have a new target for you. He is a Magic Instructor in the Xydor Royal Institution of Mages. His name is Solvim, a corrupt man with crimes like rape, murders, experimentation on human life for the creation of forbidden magic." Kelvin said with a smirk on his face.

"Grandpa.. Give me a break for once, will you? What is his mage rank anyway? Considering he is an instructor of the royal academy, He should atleast be an arch-mage right?" Atlas replied with a frown of his face.

"You are precisely right about that but that damn old bastard has done so many experiments with his body which has led to a rapid downfall of his mana reserves. He should only have powers of a 6 ☆ mage."

"Your task is to enroll in the Royal Institution of Xydor as a student and assassinate him quietly and enjoy your academic days."

"The mission has a deadline of 4 years. You have to reach 6 ☆ mage rank in those years and assassinate him." The old man told him the details of the mission with a serious and calm face.

"What a drag.. you planned this mission for me because you want me to experience the academic life. didn't you?." Atlas whinned about the task.

"Hahaha, Brat you are too serious about your life. I want you to experience a normal life. Take this letter and hand it to the examiner of the royal academy. He'll know what to do."

"The enrollment examination will be held in 5 days so hurry up and go. This time, your identity is a commoner's son."

"The Royal academy is in the capital city of Xydor kingdom - Fraven City. It is 560 km from here... Good luck!"

Kelvin moved his hand and a sudden gentle wind lifted Atlas and kicked him out of the office with the letter.

Ignoring the tantrums of the young man, the old man stood up while gazing at the majestic sunset from one of the window and murmured softly under his breath.

"Who knew the orphan i adopted had this much potential, To think he became a 4 ☆ Mage in less than 8 years, Where others spend their whole life trying but still not reach it. I have to send him to the royal academy to protect him from the various powers in the kingdom."

"He can easily become a 9 ☆ Arch-Mage in future and even surpass the human limit and become a Demi-God. I have to protect his identity while he is growing up or it'll cause a massive uproar in the world. Not even the ancient mage Gandalf had this much vast potential."

"I heard that the dean of the academy would take a disciple the same age as Atlas and her potential is also immense. I guess this is an era of geniuses. She is also an 4 ☆ Mage at such a young age."

"Ahh.. i am already too old for this, To think its already been 460 years. I guess i will use that favour from that Xydor kid and entrust this child to the dean of royal academy."

"Him being an 7 ☆ Arch-Mage will surely help this kid in his journey and reach a height never acheived by anyone."

..

Atlas said his goodbyes to the old man from outside the office. Afterwards he visited a certain graveyard and stood infront of two graves, thinking about memories of his past.

A tear wailed up from his deep ocean blue eyes. Which instantly evaporated before it touched the ground due to his aura.

"No.. I am still not strong enough.... Not until i can stand at the top of the world." Atlas thought about how he saw his parents getting injured and ultimately getting killed by bandits helplessly while they fought them for time, for him to run away.

Atlas was only 10 years old while this happened, He wandered around helplessly and reached the city named Falcon where an old women saw him searching through the garbage can for food and took him in her small orphanage.

Her name was Margie, she fed him well while taking care of him and other childrens in the orphanage.

After that certain day, Atlas always trained his body vigorously in the forest nearby but one day a certain old man, who was the guild master of the assassin guild in Xydor saw his potential and deep hatred in his eyes.

He adopted Atlas and taught him about the basics of mana, magic spells, various stealth techniques, footworks. He was surprised to see that this young man reach the level of 1 ☆ Apprentice Mage in 2 days. A normal person would atleast take a month for reaching the same rank as him.

He trained his body and magic spells at the daytime while he meditated the whole night to increase his mana reserves. Whenever he meditated, all the mana in the surroundings would take a form of vortex and rush up to his body.

Kelvin gave the young man all the resources he needed and taught him everything he could. He enrolled him to the assassin guild and taught him about the nature of this accursed world.

....

Atlas reached his house which was at the top of a hill nearby the Falcon city. he bought this house few years ago for 4,600,000 ren with his income as a B+ rank assassin.

The house had various formations and magic circuits setup which provided protection to him and gave him a peaceful environment to train.

He stuffed all the essentials and a picture of him and his family in his expensive 10x10 metre storage ring. that he got as a gift for his birthday from the old man.

Storage ring were artifacts which had a alternate space sealed inside a small ring which could be used by any mage but it was very expensive and only official mages could afford it.

This world has a universal currency named "Ren". The average income of the residents of a developed city was 5000 - 20000 ren per month while an average mage could earn upto 1,000,000 - 2,000,000 ren per month. Not to mention those at the level of arch-mage. They trade magic pills, potions and mana stones in place of rens.

Prices of mana stones were :

Low-Grade mana stone - 1000 Ren

Middle-Grade mana stone - 100,000 Ren

High-Grade mana stone - 10,000,000 Ren

Low grade mana stones could be used by Apprentice Mages to aqbsorb mana in their body from the stone quickly until it runs out of energy.

Middle grade stones could be used by official mages and High grade stones could only be used by arch mages due to their purity of mana.

They are very useful for all mages. It is found in mana rich environmental caves so it is very expensive.
