Chapter 44 - Birth of a Killer [Pt 2]

I stared at the holographic screen, still processing the revelation that I was now a "Skeleton Conjurer." Gathering my thoughts, I turned my attention back to the System.

"System, how do I upgrade my level as a Skeleton Conjurer?" I inquired, feeling a mix of excitement and uncertainty.

The System's voice echoed in my mind, "To upgrade your level, you must accumulate experience points by killing monsters. Kill a sufficient number, and you'll progress to the next level."

Perplexed, I responded, "Kill monsters? I don't understand."

The System clarified, "Killing creatures in any magical realm will earn you experience points. The more you kill, the higher your level becomes."

Curiosity piqued, I pressed further, "How many monsters do I need to kill to level up?"

The System calmly replied, "The required number is displayed on your screen, beside the 'Profession' option."

I quickly glanced at the screen, finding the information. "Oh, it's right here. Thanks, System."

As I absorbed the freshly acquired knowledge, a sense of video games and adventure filled me.

I continued my interaction with the System, curious about the changes.

"System, where's the shop option?" I questioned.

The System responded, "The shop option has been replaced by the Barter System. As the name suggests, it deals with trades, specifically undead."

Perplexed, I asked, "Undeads? How does that work?"

The System affirmed, "Yes, undead. Open it, and you'll understand more efficiently if you see it with your own eyes."

Intrigued, I navigated to the Barter System, eager to explore this new dimension of trading undead in my evolving journey.

I opened the Barter System with a mix of anticipation and curiosity. The holographic interface unfolded before my eyes, revealing a list of creatures available for bartering.

Each creature had its own unique bartering ratio, offering various numbers of Skeleton soldiers.

The possibilities seemed both interesting and vast, hinting at a complex and dynamic world of exchanges in my journey as a Skeleton Conjurer.

Intrigued by the array of creatures listed in the Barter System, I turned my attention back to the System.

"System, why do these creatures have such varying barter ratios?" I inquired, my curiosity growing.

The System explained, "The barter ratio is determined by the intelligence and strength of each creature. The higher the ratio, the smarter and stronger the undead being you're acquiring."

Puzzled, I asked for clarification, "So, the more Skeleton soldiers a creature costs, the more powerful it is?"

The System affirmed, "Exactly. The barter ratio is a reflection of the creature's capabilities. Consider it as a measure of their strategic value in your journey."

I nodded, absorbing this new understanding. "Got it. So, in essence, I'm trading quantity for quality in the realm of undead."

The System concurred, "Precisely. It adds a strategic layer to your choices as a Skeleton Conjurer. Choose wisely, for the strength of your undead army will play a crucial role in your adventures."

Equipped with this understanding, I revisited the holographic interface, carefully assessing each creature with a fresh appreciation for their capabilities.

Every undead entity possessed a distinct charm, and the barter ratios now served as a clear indicator of their strength and intelligence.

As I pondered my next move, a sense of thrill and excitement intertwined.

I decided to explore further. With a determined swipe, I metaphorically flipped the next page of this mystical book.

To my surprise, the pages displayed only emptiness. Confused, I flipped through several more pages, each one as bare as the last. Puzzled, I turned my attention back to the System.

"System, what's happening? Why are these pages blank?" I asked a tinge of concern in my voice.

The System's response echoed in my mind, "Host, With each level you attain, a new spell is granted. The knowledge of these spells is imprinted directly into those empty pages. Those blank pages represent the potential awaiting your discovery. Focus on your progression, and the spells will unveil themselves."

Amazed by the revelation, I reflected on our conversation about levelling up and the dynamic world of undead creatures. The System's guidance added a layer of mystery and excitement to my journey.

Excited, I closed the book and put it into my bag, ready to embrace the challenges that lay ahead, knowing that each level gained would not only strengthen my undead army but also unveil the secrets of powerful spells.

As my gaze fell upon my skeleton soldiers, I noticed they were clattering with each other, as if engaged in some form of animated communication. Intrigued and wanting to understand their interactions, I turned to the System.

"System, can you help me communicate with my skeleton soldiers?" I inquired.

The System responded, "OK, Host," and then continued, "User Interface Activated. Communication Protocol Enabled."

Suddenly, I felt a shift in the surroundings and a subtle connection formed between me and my skeletal army.

"H.. EY, W.. H..AT . T.. HA.. T.. M. ON. ST. ER. . I.S.. D.O.. IN. G.. B..EH.. IN. D.. T. HE.. B.. USH?, " One skeleton spoke.

"MAY.. BE.. H. E.. IS.. PO.. OP.. ING. " Other answered back.

The clattering sounds now transformed into a more structured exchange, and I realized I could comprehend their communication.

I asked the System, "How does this work? What can I say to them?"

The System explained, "You can issue commands or ask questions using your thoughts. The communication is intuitive, and your soldiers will respond accordingly."

Excited to try it out, I focused my thoughts on a simple command: "Skeleton Soldiers, assemble in formation."

To my amazement, the clattering ceased, and my skeleton soldiers swiftly arranged themselves into a disciplined formation. This new ability opened up a realm of possibilities for coordination and strategy.

Curious, I asked the System, "Can I also understand their response more clearly?"

The System confirmed, "Yes, Host. Their responses will be conveyed to you through subtle shifts in their movements and the intensity of their clattering. It's a form of non-verbal communication specific to your connection."

Turning around to face my assembled skeleton soldiers, I embraced the newfound communication channel. The clattering sounds had transformed into a symphony of understanding, and I could feel the unspoken connection that bound us.

"Alright, my skeletal companions," I addressed them, the resonance of my thoughts reaching each one. "Today marks the beginning of a new era for us. Let's refine our formations and strengthen our unity."

The response was a collective clatter, a mixture of acknowledgement and readiness. Encouraged, I spent time interacting with each skeleton, fine-tuning their positions and movements. As I did, I could sense their personalities emerging through the subtle shifts in their clattering exchanges.

In the midst of this interaction, one skeleton stood out with an air of authority and discipline.

'His vibe is different from others. '

Inspired, I approached this distinguished member of my undead army.

"You," I thought, focusing my attention on the selected skeleton. "From now on, your name is Gabru. Lead our comrades with strength and wisdom."

The clattering that followed seemed to carry a sense of pride and purpose. Gabru, now named and appointed as the leader, assumed a central position among the others.

Empowered by the communication channel, I engaged in a brief conversation with Gabru and the other skeletons, understanding their perspectives on the upcoming challenges and their loyalty to our cause. The exchange was non-verbal, yet the connection was profound.

As we continued to refine our formations, the coordination among the skeleton soldiers improved. They responded to my commands with precision, demonstrating a newfound efficiency in their movements.

With Gabru at the forefront, I felt a sense of trust and camaraderie developing within our undead army. The interaction became a dance of unspoken understanding, a testament to the unique bond forged through our communication channel.

Satisfied with the progress, I stepped back, addressing my skeletal soldiers once more.

"So, my skeletons, are you ready for the bloodshed?

"Kla-ke-keke. " (Soldiers)

"Good!! " (Alex)

"Then, Let's begin our ascent to immortality. "
