"Does your father drive?"
Lynch asked a question after hearing the girl's words.
It would be best if Catherine's father could drive, small pickup trucks, large vans, trucks, they were all essentially pretty much the same except for subtle variations, and as long as one knew how to drive one kind, one could quickly master the driving skills of the other vehicles.
The Baylor Federation was not a narrow country where there was vast land, and the factories were far enough away from the city circles that the factory owners tended to give ask for a little more when circling their plots.
Most of the factories have a large area, the movement of materials within the factory is almost impossible to complete if you rely on manual handling, most of them will have dump trucks or forklifts for auxiliary transportation.
So quite a few workers have access to these and can learn how to drive them, and factory owners are happy to see this.
After all, hiring separate drivers cost an extra fortune, and if the workers knew how to drive themselves, they could save an extra paycheck.
Unfortunately, though, Catherine's father didn't know how to drive any of the vehicles, he was just a relatively simple shop worker, one of those ordinary people who didn't want to care or worry about anything beyond their own.
"Any manual labor?" , Kathryn took another sip from her glass, "He could be given a physical job, he's best at that."
When talking about this type of work Catherine didn't mean to be pretentious or anything else, for these two young men, there was a long time when manual labor was the most normal job in their perception, and even now, in Catherine's world, it was just fine for normal people to do manual labor.
Lynch scratched his eyebrows, suddenly there was a slight itch on his eyebrows, he pursed his lips and thought for a moment, "Then work in a warehouse, dealing with all kinds of things every day."
"Very well, that's it!"
There was a sudden silence between the two, neither one spoke first, the atmosphere became a bit grotesque, but also a bit heavy.
After a few drinks, the wine in the cup in the girl's hand was finished off by her last drink, and she carefully placed the cup on the coffee table without making too much of a clinking sound, and then looked at Lynch, who also looked at her.
The two made eye contact for a short time before the girl shrugged her shoulders and averted her gaze, her two hands clasping their fingers together in a somewhat bemused manner, but then loosening with the movement of her shoulders, favoring them to her sides.
"And what about me, how do I get set up?" , she looked at the large house, before when she and Lynch were together the two had fantasized about buying a large house if they could make money in the future.
That way instead of the family being crammed into a small space, they would give each child a separate large room that would fit a bed, a desk, and a bookcase and a closet.
They'll have a big kitchen that's completely separate, and a big dining room that has a big TV so they can watch TV for a while while they're eating.
They would have lots of rooms with separate bathrooms in each room so that the family didn't have to hold back until they jumped because of one stupid person who sat on the toilet and wouldn't get up.
It would be great to have a pool in front of the house, so that when the weather got hot you could take the kids swimming with you, swimming made it enjoyable and put some of those bathing suits that you'd bought a long time ago but couldn't use to use to good use.
Now that this dream had come true, but the dream was also without the girl, who was a little down in the dumps.
She was a strong girl though, and quickly adjusted herself, "I'll say this up front, you can have me as a maid, but I won't be wearing those clothes ...", she smiled thievishly, "You know that. "
Lynch froze for a moment, then couldn't help but laugh out loud, this was the first time he had laughed so unburdened since he had traveled to this world, just because of some kind of pure emotional impact.
When the two hadn't been separated they had bought some magazines that only adults could read, one of the issues was titled "Master and Maid", and at that time Lynch couldn't help but want to buy this outfit for Catherine to try on, but he stopped short because of the price.
Suddenly the memories that tumbled from the depths of the mind gave way to a yearning with a hint of remembrance and a certain awe, and the two men's laughter mingled together, but soon subsided.
Lynch pinched the bottom of the glass with two or three fingers and turned it, playing with it, and it was probably a dozen seconds before he said, "Remember what we first thought?"
Catherine nodded a little, there were always things that people had trouble forgetting, and it hadn't really been that long for the two young men.
They had agreed then, after leaving school, that if one of them could get a steady job and could save up some money, they might be able to keep the other one in school.
They were actually both doing well academically, it was just that they were missing something hard.
Lynch's words made Catherine vaguely realize what was going on, and she had some expectations up.
The girl who met Lynch's gaze for the third time did not move her gaze away this time as she stared straight at Lynch.
Lynch, on the other hand, laughed softly, "Go to school and chase our respective dreams!"
This proposal instantly hit the girl's heart, and without the slightest hesitation, she immediately agreed.
Perhaps it was because she had drank some wine, perhaps it was because she had gotten a result that was at least full of meaning for herself, the girl whose spirit had gone from tense to relaxed felt a hint of fatigue.
She wanted to go back, but Lynch did not agree, and said with some hint of jest, "You can choose a room, and of course my bed there can lie two."
Catherine didn't refuse to stay the night, but refused to lie down with Lynch, "You forget, we broke up, if you want to do something, you can come after me, and if I feel that way, maybe I'll come after you again ..."
Lynch wiggled his wrist, "Dream on!"
Over the next few hours Lynch took the girl to find another master bedroom and got her settled in, and taught her how to use everything in the room, including all those various little things in the bathroom.
Lynch then left on his own accord, in fact it wasn't impossible for him not to leave, the girl wouldn't refuse, but he needed to show the girl some respect.
Incidentally, he asked the maid to send over some ladies' clothes.
After living together for so long, he knew what size clothes Catherine needed.
Even later, both of them lay in bed, but neither of them fell asleep immediately, both of them were thinking about something, without any clear inclination or purpose, a very scattered thinking.
It was not until late at night that they gradually fell into a dream.
The next day the two met in the dining-room on the first floor, where the maid had made breakfast for them, some vegetables, a couple of meal-packets, bacon, prosciutto, butter, and some milk.
Only Lynch's milk was hot milk, the milk for Catherine was slightly cold milk.
"I thought I needed to help myself." , Catherine, who was sitting at the dining table, looked at the maid who was busy and was a bit curious, "How much do you pay her a month?"
"Four hundred and twenty dollars." , Lynch answered casually while looking at the newspaper and eating breakfast.
This price wasn't really high, but it couldn't be considered low either, an excellent maid would sometimes double up as something only a housekeeper would do, at the same time they were very good at their job, and it was more efficient than hiring two idiots.
Catherine shook her head, "I suddenly regret it, maybe being a maid was a good decision?"
Lynch raised his eyes to her, then put down the paper, "If you look at it from a wealth standpoint alone, the earlier you work the sooner you will gain, but sometimes that is not the case."
"When you start off on a higher pedestal, you can quickly make back the time and money you 'lost' while you were studying, and there's a continuing process of going higher."
"Feel free to get ready to study, you don't owe me anything, and if you think you do, won't you just work for me when you graduate?"
Lynch picked up the newspaper again, his eyes returned to it, "I will let you feel the exploitation and oppression from the capitalists when the time comes!"
Catherine didn't continue to say anything and started to enjoy the hearty breakfast, while Lynch kept reading the newspaper.
The situation in the country had some problems, or was about to reach a turning point.
The state newspaper talked about how some of the money that had previously poured into the Federation to escape the war had begun to be withdrawn, affecting the local economic construction to a certain extent, and subsequently talked about the bad and illegal behavior of some foreign businessmen in the Baylor Federation, and all of them, from the state newspaper to the local newspaper, were bragging about this kind of trend.
They also made a direct connection between exploitation and oppression and foreign businessmen, and until then both mainstream and lesser newspapers were trying to avoid naming and shaming as much as possible, much less talking about exploitation in a big way.
It's a fairly complex and obscure and socially controversial topic that can lead to big trouble if you're not careful.
But now none of them seemed to be afraid anymore, all of them denouncing the exploitation and oppression of the workers of the Federation of Baylor by certain foreign businessmen and the crimes they had committed in the country, but never mentioning the even more outrageous practices of the businessmen in their own countries.
The wind was becoming clearer and clearer, and it appeared that some of the men were not negotiating to the satisfaction of both parties.
There wasn't much in the Trader that was alarming, except that in the most unassuming center seam of the international section, it talked about the latest edition of the embargo list from the Baylor Federation's Ministry of Free Trade.
Some of the Federation's more famous, industry-related commodities of recent years were included in the embargo list, and shipments overseas were prohibited.
What a bunch of psychopaths!
Lynch was a very gentlemanly, elegant and cultivated person, but he still couldn't help but greet the President of the Baylor Federation and all the members of the President's Cabinet, as well as their families. (The "greet" here are not nice words)
In his opinion, the Baylor Federation could easily get out of its current predicament, but it was clear that the Conservative Party had different ideas, and their unwillingness to actively participate in international affairs had led to a worsening of the crisis in the country.
