Chapter 78 - 0078 Lynch's Moment of Levity

While the young undercover agent Wood was looking forward to a new day, Lynch on the other side drove his car outside a middle class neighborhood with a very nice location.

After waiting for almost ten minutes, a mature woman with light makeup carrying a very fashionable handbag walked out from the community's gate.

Lynch immediately got out of the car and waved and smiled at the lady, he even opened the back seat door for her.

It was a very gentlemanly gesture, the passenger seat might be a bit more intimate, this kind of rash behavior is not everyone's cup of tea, until there is absolute certainty, it is best not to create an awkward behavior between a man and a woman, especially in a relatively sealed space.

"Thanks ...," Vera smiled at Lynch as she got into the car.

It was during the afternoon that Lynch had given her a call, inviting her out to finish dinner and talk about work.

Vera, who had been in a constant state of cold war with her husband all this time, felt that she did need to go out for a break as well, and she even put on her make-up on a rare occasion.

Female make-up, too, had become popular since not many years before, in the past women in the Federation and the world at large basically didn't wear make-up, only skilled women used heavy make-up to hide their true colors, and only they used perfume to cover up the smell of dead hormones emanating from their bodies.

But with the successive victories of the vociferous feminist movement, the use of cosmetics, was completely liberated from prejudice, and of course there are some sociologists who believe that it is a conspiracy of those women who have the skills to do so.

In the past, people only had to see their faces and smell their strong scent to know what kind of work they were engaged in, and these people were naturally discriminated against by society as a whole.

Now, there's no way to tell who they are, and they've managed to hide themselves.

Feminist organizations, however, consider this argument as claptrap. Beauty and the pursuit of beauty is everyone's freedom, and the fact that men always treat women's behavior as abnormal is in itself discriminatory against women.

The success of the feminist movement over the years did change a lot of things, even some of the men started to experiment with make-up, another point is that perfume came fully into people's lives.

The Federation is a carnivorous society, from the beginning of the morning until the end of the night, most people eat meat, some people eat a small amount of vegetables, but overall still eat more meat.

This also gave some Federation people some serious body odor, in the past they didn't have much to do other than showering regularly, but now everyone started using perfume.

Although the social culture was changing, the middle and upper class women, especially the upper class women, did not take the initiative to put on makeup, and many older women still maintained the tradition of not putting on makeup or using perfume even today.

This has also led to the association of cosmetics, especially lipstick, with erotic products in certain situations and at certain times.

Vera was able to come out with light makeup, which was actually a breakthrough, knowing that there were millions of other women who would only wear makeup at home to add some motivation to the couple's relationship, they would rarely wear makeup when they went out.

Lynch nodded his head a bit to show that he had received the thanks from Vera as he got back into the driver's seat and started the car, driving towards the restaurant he had booked.

The restaurant he had ordered was not too far from where Vera lived, and living areas and commercial areas always went hand in hand, no one would ever invest in a superstore in the slums of a third-tier city that specialized in top-of-the-line luxury goods, and no one would ever run a dollar store outside of an upscale neighborhood.

After about ten minutes of traveling, the car slowly stopped outside a restaurant, and the greeter was just about to come up and open the door for Vera, when Lynch smiled at the greeter from inside the car and asked, "Can you let me have this opportunity?"

Vera was a little surprised, and certainly a little pleasantly surprised, while the greeter smiled and stepped back.

Lynch got out of the car and walked over to the back door and opened it, holding the top of the doorframe with one hand and holding his other hand palm down with a falsely clenched fist flat out so that Vera would have something to hold on to.

Vera thanked Lynch again for his poise, and his gentlemanly behavior, while Lynch crossed his right arm and looked at her.

Lynch was a little younger than Vera, and as women were sometimes stupid and sometimes shrewd, and even more frighteningly, when they were shrewd, they would lie to themselves if they had to, Vera took Lynch's behavior as a "dick" joke at this point.

She took Lynch's arm, a more intimate gesture, in return for Lynch's gentlemanly behavior.

As they entered, Lynch gave his name as the manager of the room, ... Well, there were managers everywhere in this society, and while the manager led them to their reserved seats, Lynch whispered in Vera's ear.

In a small voice, spewing out some odd breath that sent one's ability to think into some sort of sticky state, he said, "I heard a funny little joke outside, are you going to be mad?"

  Vera shook her head.

Lynch then smiled and said, "Do you know why I'm on your left?"

She cocked her head for a moment, still shaking her head.

"Because it's so I'm closer to your heart ...," he said and couldn't help but smile, which made a word filled with some sweetness, some ambiguity really seem like a joke.

It wouldn't be so abrupt, it wouldn't be stiff, instead it was lighthearted without damaging a certain feeling that the words brought.

Vera laughed along with her, she didn't feel bad, or embarrassed, and even shot back, "Whoever taught you that joke must not have been a nice person."

  "I deeply agree!"

As they spoke they had arrived at the table, Lynch pulled out a chair for her, she thanked her again and sat down, the next topic of conversation was a little less 'awkward'.

"I've recently set up a new company, I've already sent a letter to the firm, this may disturb your vacation ...", the auction house also needs an accountant, even though the city hall gave Lynch some policy tax breaks, he will still be serious about filing taxes.

Since Sabine's economic slide, City Hall has been encouraging entrepreneurship and encouraging business owners to take on more social responsibility and provide more jobs to the community.

There just hasn't been much egg on the face of this approach.

The money that should have been spent on the real economy has been taken by people and invested in the financial market, and the real economy has shrunk further, not to mention providing more jobs, it is not easy to maintain the existing jobs.

In this case, Lynch was willing to set up a second-hand goods trading and auction-based service type enterprise, and promised to provide no less than twenty jobs immediately, and no less than one hundred jobs in the future, which had already made the clerks in the social service area very touched.

After the clerk sensed Lynch's sense of responsibility to society and his fiery sentiments, he took the initiative to help him fill out a form and applied for a nice favorable policy.

Within two years, his auction company would enjoy a half-tax policy, and in the two years after that, as long as the annual profit did not exceed the second-tier levy target, then they would still be able to enjoy the tax relief policy.

There are good policies, but also need to have perfect books, from the beginning Lynch did not expect the tax bureau will let him go, even if he and Johnson's "good relations", the other side is unlikely to let him go.

It's important for him to take every step, and he really doesn't see the benefit of tax evasion, much less the risk.

Perfecting his books and paying taxes was not about proving how infallible he was, but rather not giving his enemies any chance!

If you want to be invincible, you must first be strong!
