Chapter 15 - Chapter 15

Fear gripped Jason and his companions as they stood on the precipice of exhaustion, their energy reserves running perilously low. The relentless battle against Tyler and the golems had pushed them to their limits. They braced themselves for what seemed like an inevitable defeat.

Then, as despair loomed like a looming shadow, a sudden gust of wind swept through the ruins. Sand billowed into the air, obscuring their vision. From within this sandy tempest emerged a woman, her form slowly taking shape. She strode past the group and headed toward the menacing golems.

The colossal stone giants, devoid of reason, charged at the newcomer, fists aimed for her head. But she moved with uncanny agility, effortlessly dodging their crushing blows. In a swift motion, she touched the hand of the largest golem. As her fingers made contact, the stone fist began to crumble, disintegrating into a cascade of broken rock.

With her left arm outstretched, she conjured a swirling vortex of sand that enveloped the remaining golem. In mere moments, the once formidable creature was reduced to nothing more than a fine dust.

Turning her gaze toward Jason and his wary companions, she approached them calmly. They remained on their guard, every nerve tingling with tension. Craino stood at the rear, clutching the unconscious Fiora, while Jason and Mia stood resolute in the forefront, ready to defend against any threat.

As the enigmatic woman drew closer, she began to speak in a composed tone, her voice soothing yet laden with an air of authority. "No wonder he was defeated. Your cooperation is sound."

Pausing for a moment, she continued, "I'm not your enemy. I'm actually here to help."

Jason, ever cautious, spoke out, his voice filled with skepticism. "I'm not buying it. There's no way you were here just by coincidence."

She turned and offered a faint smile, her eyes betraying an air of sincerity. "Yeah, that's true. I came here to kill Tyler, but it seems you've done the job for me."

Without waiting for further response, she began to walk away, her steps confident yet unhurried. "Follow me; I'll lead you to my safe space."

Jason and the others exchanged wary glances but ultimately decided to follow her into the dense forest, uncertain of what lay ahead.

Meanwhile, in a dark and eerie chamber, hidden away in an undisclosed location, Murello found himself bound to a chair, blindfolded and trapped. Two mysterious women dressed entirely in black entered the room, exuding an aura of chilling authority. One of them donned shades and wore deep purple makeup, while the other had kept her eyes closed throughout the encounter.

Approaching Murello, the woman in shades removed his blindfold and began to speak with a calculated calmness. "I'll give you ten seconds to tell us where the Original DNA code and perfect test subjects are. Ten... Nine..."

Murello's response was a derisive smirk, and he burst into a fit of mocking laughter. His defiance only seemed to fuel the tension in the room. The second woman, her eyes now partially open, fixed an eerie gaze on Murello.

Suddenly, Murello felt an excruciating pain in his left elbow. Blood dripped onto his chest and onto the floor. A dent had appeared in the wall behind him, and his arm had been grievously sliced by an unseen force.

The woman in shades resumed her countdown, her tone unwavering. "Three... Two..."

Desperation creeping into his voice, Murello offered a response. "I don't know where it is. It was stolen from me. I think there was a spy inside. If you give me a few days, I'll be able to retrieve it or at least recreate it."

The woman in shades maintained her composure as she delivered her chilling verdict. "The sponsors don't have use for you anymore."

The woman with her eyes closed now opened them fully, locking her gaze onto Murello. In an instant, a brilliant flash enveloped them both. When the light dissipated, Murello, along with the wall behind him, had vanished without a trace.

The room remained shrouded in an eerie silence, the only remnants of the chilling encounter being the bloodstains and the haunting knowledge that the game was far from over.

Marcus, a figure of immense power and influence, paced restlessly across the expanse of his opulent penthouse. For years, he had meticulously observed Jason's every move, a shadowy guardian watching over him. However, this prolonged period of no contact had set his nerves on edge. It was time to reestablish a connection, to have eyes and ears within Jason's world. Yet, he knew that doing so would be perilous, especially given the involvement of the enigmatic President.

Sighing deeply, Marcus reluctantly conceded, "Well, I guess I have no choice in the matter." He uttered a cryptic command, one that summoned forth an individual who had been trained to be an instrument of silence and death—a female operative from the enigmatic Code 13.

As she emerged from the shadows, cloaked in darkness, she responded with utmost respect, "Yes, sir."

Marcus's expression hardened as he imparted the gravity of the mission. "I am sending you on a perilous assignment. Failure is not an option. Complete the mission or face dire consequences."

Her response was equally measured and obedient. "Affirmative, sir."

With a deliberate motion, she lowered the hood that obscured her face and concealed her identity. Her presence exuded an air of quiet confidence, a veneer that assassins donned to navigate their treacherous world. Marcus pivoted away from the window to address her directly. "From this point forward, your cover name shall be Jenna. The designation Code 13 will be left behind."

"You are dismissed," Marcus concluded.

Jenna retreated into the shadowy recesses from whence she had emerged, her concealed smile betraying her inner thoughts. Her path was now set on an uncertain course, fraught with danger and intrigue.

Meanwhile, Jason and his companions followed the mysterious woman through a labyrinthine tunnel, which eventually led them to a massive steel door. She turned toward them and explained, "This door is equipped with a directional safeguard. Unauthorized entry is impossible without prior warning." Placing her hand upon the door, it swung open to reveal an astonishing sight on the other side.

Lights illuminated the cavernous expanse, revealing a bustling underground community. People went about their business, structures resembling both weaponry and defensive fortifications dotted the landscape. It was a world hidden beneath the surface, a place where survival was paramount.

Approaching the group, two men appeared concerned and questioned the mysterious woman, Alison. "Why have you brought strangers at such a precarious time?" one of them inquired.

In response, Alison asserted confidently, "These individuals are our saviors. They defeated Tyler." Her words sent shockwaves through the two men, but their skepticism vanished as they noticed the injuries sustained by Jason and his crew.

The first man recognized the urgency of the situation. "We need to provide them with immediate medical attention."

Jason, determined to speak, took a step forward but was suddenly overcome by dizziness. His vision blurred, and with an unceremonious collapse, he succumbed to unconsciousness.
