The air in the dormitories shifted, a subtle change that signalled an impending shift in the carefully orchestrated routine. Without warning, the once dim illumination transformed into a vivid green, casting an eerie glow across the room. In synchrony with this luminous shift, the previously locked doors swung open, revealing a passage into the unknown.
A resounding noise reverberated through the dormitories, a cacophonous wake-up call that jolted everyone from their reverie. Within moments, grogginess gave way to alertness, and the inhabitants of the dormitories found themselves at the precipice of a new challenge.
--Jason's point of view--
Hay, I'm back and I'm not doing so well. Hiding behind a door and being woken up by green lights and a loud noise was not how I planned the first night.
The loudspeaker went on as a voice began to talk, its tone resonating with an eerie calmness, "Hello there, sorry to wake you up but we decided to rush the second stage of the program. Your previously chosen weapon is either in your hands or in your room. Your goal is simply to survive the night."
"To not make it easy for you, we broke some dangerous criminals out of prison and told them that if they can as well survive the night they can go free. I know they shouldn't be a problem for you but they won't make it easy because it's their freedom."
Well, that's another one of their stupid programs again I thought in my head. I walked out slowly and observed my environment, it seemed no one was nearby.
The hallway was dark and creepy even for me, one guy came out of nowhere screaming and charging at me with a very small dagger. He tried hitting me, I simply dodged it and shot him in the neck.
It felt sad to me, even with the way I killed, I didn't like just killing anybody.
The feeling left early when I remembered what the voice said about them being criminals.
I picked up his dagger and walked down the hallway. The hallway led to the lobby where there was a couch and five doors.
Since everywhere wasn't so bright I decided to sit on the couch and relax.
I sat down, and just then I heard a burst of laughter when an arrow appeared by the side of my head while penetrating the wall behind me.
Without thinking twice I shot in the direction the arrow came. I stood up looking around, I ran to the doors and tried opening one of them but it was locked.
I took a look back and I saw a girl approach. "What kind of criminal is afraid to fight?" she asked with a sigh.
"Watch it, I'm not a criminal!" I replied. "Even if you are not one of them you are still a criminal, we all are, so think of this as a fun prison where your life is at risk."
"Wow, very encouraging, anyway since we aren't targeting each other yet let's not go on fighting," I said sarcastically, waiting for her reply. "Weren't you just running away?" she asked.
"I just didn't feel like killing another person," I replied.
Feeling relaxed, I stood up, dusted my clothes, and looked around. Where we were standing was still pretty much the hallway but instead of ordinary doors, there were brown-colored doors blocked by steel rods.
I readjusted my pistols while facing the girl. "So what's your name?" I asked.
She stared at me in silence.
"You don't need to be shy about it. Anyway, let's get going before any criminal finds us here." I started walking down the hallway.
She quickly ran towards me and almost stumbled.
"Get your balance or else you won't survive the night." Getting her posture in the position she got ready her arrows and followed behind.
Not long after walking down the hallway, we noticed some people approaching. The people were all wearing chains and each holding a mini machine gun.
Once I noticed, I shot the nearest light bulb and everywhere went dark. Getting the signal, the girl shot her arrows.
I could sense that something flew past me, I ducked in case anyone would try and hit me.
After some time, everywhere went silent. I put my guard up and immediately positioned my pistol, waiting for the nearest attack.
Just as I thought, one guy wasn't dead. He stood up, held his chain, and tried to hit me. It was easy for me to dodge it even in the dark, well, because I am a master assassin.
After dodging his simple attack, I shot him in the leg, making him lose balance.
Not long after, everywhere was silent again. We dragged some of the criminals who were still alive back to the lobby where I and she first met.
When the criminals regained consciousness, they looked pretty confused.
"Ok, so I think I got your attention, I guess some of you can't stand up. Here is a deal I'd like to offer. If you guys protect us for the night, we won't attack you until the night is over."
"If you do that, we both gain. You gain your freedom while we gain our lives till the next day. It's not like we can't just kill you right now."
After saying that, I knew they got the message. I looked at the girl and asked her where we should base as a territory before the next day.
After a short walk, we both finally picked a spot we could use as a base.
It was a gymnasium, no gym material was inside, though. I looked around so I could analyze where each criminal could stay in case we got a massive breach, the whole area was dark and empty.
I noticed a dark corner to the far right end of the gym. There was an obvious hole, but it looked as if someone covered it with a very dark blanket.
I walked up to the hole and then walked back. I told one of the criminals to walk up to the hole and check what was inside.
The criminal was tall, hefty, and had coppery skin. He did what I told him. As he touched the blanket, a hand came out, held the criminal, and he burnt to ashes.
Immediately, we were on our guard. I held my pistol and went to the left side of the gym. Since the gym wasn't that big, I knew if anyone came out, I would still land my hit on whoever came out.
The girl quickly came to where I was standing. "My name is Fiora," she quickly said.
Right after, she went to her position, smoke began to come out of the hole. The smoke was spreading around the room.
I held my breath just in case the smoke was poisonous. I held a tight grip on my pistols and gave a signal to one of the criminals to advance.
The guy went while holding his Katana. The Katana was connected to the chains on his body.
Just as he got to the hole, there was an explosion. I quickly ran backward while still looking straight at the hole. A knife was thrown at me, but I moved just in time to dodge it. I looked around, but I didn't see Fiora. I ran towards where the hole was and dived in.
