"I messed up in the exams. The young witch in my class couldn't even cast a basic fireball spell. I was embarrassed in public, as always."
"The third prince came to the academy today. He was handsome, just like always. He doesn't seem to recognize me though. It's sad."
"Being the weakest witch in the academy has its perks. For one, there's constant peace since there's no one to disturb me, but I don't like it. No friends, and it sometimes gets too lonely."
"I hate being weak."
"I'm about to do something crazy. I have no choice. If I want to be powerful, being a coward who can't take risks won't get me anywhere."
"I stole a forbidden scroll from the library. It was surprisingly easy, but my heart is beating like crazy. What if I get caught later? No, that must not happen, or I'll be killed. It seems like I'll have to perform the ritual this week at the latest."
"I studied the scroll more. It's forbidden magic that gives immense power at a physical cost. I'm scared, but for power, I'll do anything!"
"I'm going to perform the ritual today. Hopefully, it goes well. I'm nervous."
As I read the last sentence in the diary, which I held in my hands, I released an audible sigh.
"From beginning to end, everything you did, Bella, was a bad plan. I can't say I don't understand you, though, since I'm you now due to your actions," I murmured in the slightly dark space which was apparently 'my' room.
If it weren't for the rising sun sending a little of its crimson light through the window, this room would have been completely dark.
As dark as it was when I first opened my eyes in this new body.
Yeah, a new body.
A new body in the sense that the body I was in at the moment is not originally my own.
It's like something akin to possession, except that in this case, it wasn't forceful because the original owner of this body is dead for obvious reasons.
"Ah," a sigh escaped my lips as I began to recall what had led to what was presently happening.
The backstory is nothing grand.
There was nothing like a hero summoning or necromancy; neither was there a meeting with some god.
What happened was just the plain unexpected death of a mortician who just got cheated on by her boyfriend of three years.
I thought Daniel was the one. The man for me and the man of my dreams.
For a while, Daniel was indeed all these things, though, until I caught him sleeping with my best friend.
There was no way I could continue in a relationship with him after seeing that.
Daniel and I had to break up.
Devastated, my colleagues at work who knew of our break-up suggested we go on a skydiving adventure when we had the time.
The thought felt nice, and we did it, but that was where everything went sideways.
Hundreds of meters in the air, far away from any of my colleagues, my parachute refused to open, and I slowly watched myself fall to my death.
How I did not turn into meat paste upon contact was nothing short of a miracle, but when I felt pain flood me, I wished for nothing more than death, and thankfully my wish got granted.
This was supposed to be the end of the story until I opened my eyes the next moment to find myself in another person's body.
The body of a person who bore the same first name as me, the same age, and even the same appearance.
This body felt like my original's carbon copy.
This was the body of Bella RageHeart, the body's original owner.
The twist did not end here, though, as there was still more because Bella RageHeart was not some ordinary person.
Bella RageHeart was a witch.
The kind that had magical prowess.
