It's the day of the challenge and I will be lying if I tell you I can do this because I can't. Firstly, I am still very weak and can't feel my wolf. Secondly, the letter I found in my bag from Leroy my mate has put me into an emotional mess. Sitting on my bed, I am still staring at it not knowing what to do.
'Dear Maya, with a heart of regret I write this to you, I know I have been an ass to you since you came to my pack and have been treated inhumanely, am sorry Maya, so so sorry. I regret everything I did to you and am undeserving of being your mate which I will regret all my life but Please Maya, I need you to forgive me and my family. I set you free Maya. Please do not come back here because it's dangerous for you and I want you safe. I believe Mrs Brooke will take care of you. Please do not forget me even though I deserve it. I know my life will never be the same without you my mate but I accept that punishment wholeheartedly as punishment for my cruelty to you. I wish you luck and don't forget to take care of yourself and be safe.'
I continued to stare into space with the letter in my hand and the money I found with it. I wonder what he meant by Mrs Brooke will take care of me, is there something I am not aware of? With a deep sigh, I folded the letter and the money, putting it back into my bag. How do I even go about this challenge?
"Lily?" I mindlink my wolf again but still, she didn't respond to me. Hearing the alarm, I rushed out of my room. I guess it's time for the challenge, I quickly made my way to the training ground and found everyone already in a fitted overall bodysuit with different colours representing either schools or packs.
Yeah everyone from different packs and territories is here and the females from my school are sporting on a red and blue bodysuit. Counting, I think we are about three hundred and fifty females participating in this.
"Listen, girls," The chancellor said, distracting my thoughts.
"Welcome to the maze challenge. The rules are simple but first, you all are to introduce yourselves to each other and step into the maze after that." She declared and a loud noise broke our attention as we all faced the direction it came from, behold a huge gate was opened and we all gasped in amazement seeing a huge metal building. The walls were so high and massive and the sun shining over the metal made it difficult for us to see the whole building.
As we all finished introducing ourselves to the others, Mrs Brooks continued.
"Here are the rules"
1: Each one of you will step into the building separating yourself from each other.
2: Each one of you is to find a locket Using your abilities.
3: When you find a locket, immediately make your way out of the maze.
4: As you step out of the maze, put on your locket and expose the stone by opening it.
5: There are sixty lockets in the maze for each one of you who finds it. However, each locket has a twin. As you find out what stone you have, quickly look for the person who has your twin stone. That person automatically becomes your partner throughout the challenge. But do not forget that everyone is a competition to you whether partner or not and not all the challenge, requires being in pairs.
7: If you do not find a locket, you will be disqualified automatically from moving further in the challenge." She finished clarifying.
Well, that should be easy. I will just have to go in, play around and walk out, then get disqualified. Am grateful Mrs Brooke helped me in covering my scent. Yeah!
"It is time, you all have one hour to finish this". And that snapped me out of my little celebration. I glanced around catching a glimpse of everyone walking into the huge building and then my gaze fell on Aliya talking to Mrs Brooke while staring at me with discomfort.
I glanced away, not interested in whatever it was they were talking about as I headed into the building. This place is dim with little shadows of light and the more I walk the weaker I get. I will have to keep a steady pace.
I don't know how much I have been walking, but it's a good thing I am not searching for anything. Seeing the determination of those who are searching, reminds me of what happened to me a few days ago, since I would have been one of them. Too bad destiny only chooses horrors for me.
Taking a seat by a corner as I got tired of walking, I crouched to the metal wall thinking about what to do after this but sleep slowly took over me.
A loud siren sound jerked me up from my slumber. I immediately stood up noticing other students rushing here and there in confusion and I followed along.

After the chancellor finished with the rules, I inhaled deeply. This whole challenge has taken a toll on me but I am determined to fight till the third stage since the crown is not my target. It was announced that those who are able to get to the third stage will enter the king's harem and I heard he hardly pays attention to the women in his harem. That way I can easily make my escape from all of this and go far away from the hell I call family. Andy has been tormenting and torturing me since he found out about me being one of the chosen. My dad invited me home to talk but thank God the school declined as it wasn't a matter of urgency. Andy beat me up after that saying I had a hand in the school's decision but oh well I don't care anymore.
They can believe whatever they want and besides I have gotten used to him hitting me. I should put all my focus on this training and forget everything else.
Looking at this building again something clicked in my memory, the dream. It was the same maze building in my dream and I was shocked. Yeah, I know a few times I have had dreams and they came through but this feels rather strange to me. Everything here is exactly as I saw it in my dream except the beautiful garden.
Seeing Mrs Brooke walk up to me, I remember I hadn't said anything yet to her about Maya.
"Hello Aliya" she smiled at me. I smiled back acknowledging her presence.
"Hello Mrs Brooks"
"I didn't get your response but I want to believe you will help her." She responded and just then I caught a glimpse of Maya striding slowly towards the building and noticed something strange. I didn't feel the chills I always felt whenever I was around her or any of her kind.
I have always felt this kind of strange chills whenever I am around them. but I don't feel it now, watching her walk past me and she looks so pale. That's strange, something is definitely wrong with her like Mrs Brooke said. Now I feel a burden to look out for her in this challenge. Turning back to Mrs Brooke, I nodded, assuring her I would as she took a deep breath.
I turned around, taking off into the building. Everything is just the same as I make my way deeper into the Maze, thinking of where to start searching. My mind went back to Maya and how I was going to look out for her, I couldn't even see her and I didn't have time. I take a deep breath thinking of what to do next and then it hit me, Mrs Brooke mentioned something about stones and I picked up two precious stones in my dream and surprisingly I knew what to do as a smirk formed on my face.
