Chapter 16: Breaking Through

Drip! Drip! Drip!

The atmosphere had abnormally grown cold, as if the world itself was warning humanity that something ominous was about to happen. Simultaneously, drops of rain were descending. The sudden rain seemed to have made the atmosphere even colder.

In the distant yet fancy corner of the third district, where people with money who wished to spend it faster than water lived, an extremely fancy house was present. This was the current residence of the so-called original main character chosen by this world.

Someone who was an absolute menace, Fang Ryou. He was a delusionist who justified every one of his actions claiming it to be for the greater good of the world, only to satisfy his ego. Although he surely worked hard to cultivate, it wouldn't change all his other negative qualities. In a sense, he was even worse than those one-dimensional young masters.

Currently, the so-called protagonist of the era was in a meditative position, circulating Qi in his body diligently while cultivating.

He couldn't afford to waste any time and hence, focused on increasing his power. After all, he was still a small fish in the ocean.

'A bit more…'

And while he cultivated, his eyes suddenly widened, shining brightly. The next second, his body became extremely hot, as if it was being boiled.

Crack!

The sound of something being cracked by sheer force echoed throughout the room. Fang Ryou visualized it to be a piece of glass. Having the right mentality and mental stability was equivalent to cultivation talent, at least while having a breakthrough.

And thus, whenever Fang Ryou would try to break through, in his mind, the wall that acted as a boundary, the boundary between his limited human capabilities and extraordinary strength, would be equivalent to a frail piece of glass.

Glass that he could break with a single punch, finally achieving the extraordinary strength of experts who could split oceans in half, turn mountains into dust with a single flick of their finger, and possessed enough strength to gain freedom and exit the world, entering the void skies!

He wished to challenge the heavens and replace them with his might and sheer willpower!

"ARGHHHHH!"

A pained expression appeared on Fang Ryou's face as he used all the force in his body to break through.

It was by no means an easy task, for it felt as if his very bones were shattering and his skin being ripped apart. Even if he was the protagonist, breaking through was the same for everyone!

Shatter!

The wall, the boundary composed of frail glass visualized by Fang Ryou, shattered! He had successfully crossed one of the major realms! Now, in the true sense, Fang Ryou could be called a heaven-defying genius and wouldn't be taken lightly even in those big cities due to his talent.

Needless to say, the plot with him was consistent as he had indeed broken through on the very day before the battle.

"Huff, Huff. Let's defy the heavens later. Time to rest!", muttering to himself, he could feel his muscles soring and pain intensifying with the slightest of the movements.

Also, a lot of impurities had stagnated which he had to wash away. Hence, bathing and resting at the same time was his only option.

The brightness in his eyes dimmed as Fang Ryou decided to rest for a few hours.

As mentioned, breaking through was no small matter, and it could even possibly take one's life if they weren't careful. Even after a breakthrough, one shouldn't be careless and engage in strenuous activities. Instead, they should stabilize their cultivation.

Sluggishly and slowly, Fang Ryou stood up. The reason for his sluggishness wasn't because he had drained most of his energy and Qi during the breakthrough, but because Fang Ryou hadn't stabilized his cultivation.

Not having enough control over his cultivation and powers could be the perfect recipe for disaster.

Since Fang Ryou had crossed a major milestone, every single action would have a great impact if his strength was not controlled. Even a single step could launch him forward like a rocket, enabling him to travel more than a mile with a single step.

"Now let's see how that villain will survive against me," he dangerously narrowed his eyes, thinking about Chen Jie.

A smirk sat on his face as he imagined the situation of Chen Jie begging in front of him and then ultimately dying. Twirling his tongue and licking his own lips, he continued to laugh as the scene played in front of him.

However, even this was a mere distraction.

Fang Ryou sighed, simultaneously getting rid of all these thoughts. He then looked towards the bed, ready to sleep on it.

In fact, Fang Ryou felt like the bed was trying to seduce him.

'Need to bath but… will do later.'

"Time to enter the world of sweet dreams."

Knock!

However, some imbecile had to disturb him in the middle of the night!

"Argh, who is it?" Fang Ryou mumbled to himself, walking towards the door in slow motion.

No, time hadn't slowed down; instead, Fang Ryou was walking sluggishly, making it seem like he was going in slow motion.

Even after a minute, he hadn't reached the door. Heck, he hadn't even crossed half of the path.

Unfortunately, Fang Ryou didn't keep any servants or slaves who could open the door for his master.

After all, he was a very secretive person who hide tons of things from the eyes of others. He couldn't afford them being revealed, as it would be the death of him. Furthermore, he had reincarnated in the body of the protagonist, this meant, he had to be much more careful.

Gritting his teeth, Fang Ryou slightly adjusted his speed as he noticed his muscles suddenly bulging, making himself even slower.

It was obvious that the people present outside didn't possess much patience. On top of that, they seemed to be cultivators, strong ones at that.

Seeing that no one was replying, the obvious choice was to break the door!

BAM!
