Chapter 3 - I WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO SEE IT

Her hair is silky and falls smoothly on her waist.

Her eyes are dreamy and so seductive.

Her nose is so slender and pointy.

Her lips are beautiful and pinkish in colour.

Her face is well chiselled in an oval but slightly roundish manner.

She is averagely tall and her figure is so feminine and attractive.

She moves over to her dressing mirror, facing the window in her room.

The weather is sunny today and the bright light from the window shines on her beautiful face.

Tana, with her eyes closed and face looking so pleased with the weather, inhales deeply and exhales.

She attempts to repeat the process and her phone is suddenly ringing.

She looks at the number calling her and her mood changes.

Her mom is calling but she is not ready to pick her call.

Actually, it's been two years since she spoke with her mom or even saw her.

The phone is ringing for the third time and she gathers the courage to pick.

"Tana! My goodness! How are you? Why are you doing this to your own mother? Send your address to me now! My God Tana! Why...

Tana ends the call, totally unwilling to say a word.

She drops her head on the table in front of her and starts crying profusely.

Flashback to 19 years ago...

It's a beautiful morning and Tana, 8 years old is running around the lawn with a pink kite.

The house is ofcourse fenced but is very low and see through.

Her mom is inside the house, at the kitchen, making breakfast and her dad had worked overnight and will be coming back home this morning.

Tana notices a car pulled up at a distance before the house and a man who looks like her Dad comes down from the car.

A woman comes down too and they both hug and kiss each other before she gets back into the car and drives off.

The man is looking around Asif he is being chased by armed robbers... like he'd done something wrong and is afraid of getting caught.

In his hands he is carrying bags of goodies that are supposedly for Tana and his dear wife.

As the man walks towards the house, his face has become clearer and she realizes that this man is actually her Dad.

Dumbfounded and confused, she is lost and sad.

All her life, she have always believed that her parents were unbreakable and they have the best Bond. She has always wished to marry a man like her father when she's grown and ready for marriage...so this whole thing is a shocker.

She just saw her dad coming down from a strange vehicle and he was kissing an equally strange woman.

At this point, her dad is close to the house and he calls out, "Tana my daughter, I have missed you so much! My daughter is looking all bubbly and cute today! He says as he unlocks the gate, drops the bags on the floor and proceeds to lift Tana up and down three times as was their routine, while she giggled happily. However, this time, Tana is not smiling and she is avoiding her father's eyes.

Mr. Tae Hyun, visibly worried, is wondering if his daughter saw him by any chance.

"Uhmm Tana, how long have you been standing here?"

"Few seconds ago" she said

"Alright! that's my darling. Let's go meet your mom. I bought lots of goodies for you too!"

Later that day, during dinner, Tana and her parents are happily eating and conversing and all of a sudden, she throws a question to her dad.

"Dad, why were you hugging that woman this morning? You kissed her too...she said with a sad face, looking down on her plate.

"Tana!" Both mum and dad calls out simultaneously with shock written all over their faces.

"How can you say such a thing about your father?? what is this about??

Apologize to your father right now!

"I'm sorry dad... sorry mum" she hesitantly said and ran upstairs to her room.

Mr. Tae Hyun looking disappointed and sad, stands up and said to his wife,

"Did you hear that? why would my own daughter say something like this? Have you by any chance been feeding her with false information to make me look bad?

She is just a child, how did she come up with this?"

"Hunny, what are you even talking about? I am as confused as you are. Why would you even ask me something like this?"...

He storms out of the dinning room angrily.

Apparently, earlier this morning, he, out of fear that his daughter might have seen him and might tell her mom what she saw, he decided to told his wife that his colleague from work offered to drop him off on his way back home this morning. He tried to turn the offer down but she insisted. He took the offer and made sure to thank her afterwards.

His unsuspecting wife didn't think much about it. Colleagues dropping each other from work is not a big deal I guess.

As far as she is concerned, Tana misunderstood because she is just a child. Her husband could never do that to her, or so she thought.

She sighs and proceeds to clear the dinning table.

Two years ago, Tana gets home from work, greets her mom and proceeds to her room.

Her mom follows her into the room.

"Tana, how was work today? did it go well?"

"Yes mum, it was exhausting but I'm glad I'm back home finally!"

Her mom gently sits on her daughter's bed and holding her right palm continues.

"My daughter, please, go on a date with Mr. Seo's son. I think he is a good man. I know his father, he..."

Tana frees her hand from that of her mom.

"Mom! how long will you keep this up? I already told you I am not interested in marriage so why? why do you keep bringing it up? you're driving me nuts already! can you please just stop?"

"No, how long will YOU keep this up Tana? what is wrong with you? How many times do I have to tell you the women in our family always marry before they clock 30? Huh? It is the family tradition. Are you trying to humiliate your own mother? you're almost 30!"

" Is that why you married Dad? because you were afraid of not getting married before you clocked 30? Tana reiterated.

A thunderous slap lands on Tana's face.

"How dare you? have you gone crazy Tana? Her mother fires back looking visibly shakened and sad.

She leaves Tana's room immediately.

The next morning, Tana is nowhere to be found. She had packed her things and left the house. She left a note on her bed, telling her parents to not worry about her, she's safe and she just needs her space. She is leaving town entirely as at the time they'll be reading the letter.

It's been 2 years.

Fast forward to the present and Tana is cleaning the tears from her eyes.

It is her day off from work and she have some catching up to do.
