After Kai Syaoran's departure, the worms began chasing down the fleeing devil-path disciples. When the disciples looked at what was chasing them, they felt as though being born with only two legs and no wings was the greatest injustice the heavens committed against the human race. The worms didn't have any legs and they clearly had no wings and yet they moved over the ice with a speed that made the humans despair.
Still, this was nothing compared to the despair felt by the other factions who had been lured to this deadly location with hopes of treasure and power. The first group to arrive was Long Chen's Seamless faction of the Sea Martial sect and the other disciple that had opted to take a ride on the demonic crane. The crane was the first to sense the danger and the overwhelming scent of blood.
